UPND Vice President Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba has accused that the PF and President Edgar Lungu of trying to divide the nation in a bid to cling on to power.
Speaking during a press briefing at Mr Hichilema’s residence in New Kasama Mr Mwamba said that tribalism and regionalism has escalated since the PF took over the reigns of power.
He said the divide and rule strategy the PF is using is meant to maintain the hold on power and ensure that they continue reaping the country off.
He said most of the PF leaders were poor but five years after being in power most of them have amassed wealth whose source they can hardly explain.
He warned that if the PF continued in the path of tribalism no one will be able to manage it saying not even Edgar or his family will be spared from the ugly face of the scourge.
And Mr Mwamba has maintained the stance of his Party in claiming that they were robbed off victory by the PF in collusion with the ECZ.
He said his Party will fight for Zambians and that the party wont let the PF continue for the next five years because they are selfish individuals who do not have the best interest of the country at heart.
The claim by the UPND on the out come of the presidential poll is at variant with many local and foreign stakeholders who observed the elections including the EU observers, AU, the Church and many others who have said that the elections were free and fair.
The UPND has maintained that it would pursue the outcome of the election in the constitutional court.
GBM was flanked by Dr. Nevers Mumba and Andrew Banda. Conspicuously absent was Dr. Cannius Banda, UPND Vice President for Politics.

Its the PF which has created all this confusion we are seeing among the people firstly denying opposition coverage on our national broad casting cooperation (ZNBC) closing down of POST NEWSPAPER no one talked about that now people are busy saying HH is bad, its the PF and not the other way round. The country is for sure divided on tribal lines judging by the voting patterns. No doubt on all future elections this trend may continue. For a change why dont we follow the Tanzanian system where the presidency revolves between the main land and Zanzibar. In our case the presidency could be held by the Nyanja and Bemba speaking for 10 years and the other 10 years could be held by Tonga, Lozi, Lenje, Kaonde speaking group which are the 4 provinces. This way when Zambians vote they would be voting for the best man or woman and not for their tribe.

@dununa, I don’t think other tribes voted on tribal lines otherwise HH could have lost by 800 votes. As Edgar was getting as little as 200 votes in south, HH was scoring as much as 5,000 votes in some consitituency in eastern province.

One thing People don’t realize is that Anderson Mazoka attended Mungwi Technical Secondary School in Northern Province. That’s why even his views and attitude on this TRIBE NONSENSE was different—that’s what living OUTSIDE OF YOUR OWN TRIBAL COCOON can do to you—you grow socially and the way you look at other people/tribes changes. The foundation of a party UNDP is very weak. Its corner stone of the tribal patriotism will EVENTUALLY sink it. By putting paper over cracks ( appointing GBM to woo Bemba Votes) will not help it. Why HH Lost:
UPND had clear and compelling policies on paper BUT:
1. His character put off many non B3 who had their heads above the water. Rabid and Reactive compared to Lungu who looked calm and controlled.
2. The choice of GBM. Sampa would have made a better choice and attracted more votes than the rabid hothead GBM.
3. Too much use of flammable rhetoric did put off level headed people.
4. It was perceived that the other non B3 prominent members were part time piecework desperados looking for opportunities elsewhere and were just veneer and basically the UPND retains its tag of being a Tribal grouping of the B3. GBM never ceases to amaze me with his poor analytical skills. HH got 1,760, 347 votes out of which 527,893 were from Southern Province. This represents 30% of HH’s vote coming from Southern Province, his tribesmen; this is shocking tribalism. President Elect Lungu only got 299,249 votes from Eastern Province. The amount of HH’s vote in Southern Province was the double the size of his vote in Lusaka province, a province with the largest amount of voters on the roll.
