State House and the Police Service have warned those fabricating and publishing false statements about the Presidency and warned that they would be arrested and prosecuted.

A statement emerged on social media indicating that Republican Acting President Matibini has asked Zambians to remain calm and peaceful during this trying moment.

It said President Matibini has asked members of the public to treasure peace and allow the courts to deal with issues affecting the nation.

The statement said President Matibini will with immediate effect take charge of the affairs of running the country as per provisions of the constitution.

“The Acting president will address the nation both on TV and on radio soon once all modalities are concluded,” the statement purportedly issued by State House Spokesman Amos Chanda said.

But Mr Chanda has disassociated himself with the statement describing it as a clear forgery capable of alarming the nation.

Mr Chanda said the Inspector General of Police, Kakoma Kanganja has been alerted of the criminal correspondence.

“State House wishes to clarify that it has not issued any statement at all stating that Speaker of the National Assembly Dr. Patrick Matibini will this evening address the nation on national radio and television. State House wishes to state that it has since notified the Inspector General of Police who has opened a line of inquiry to pursue the criminal element who forged and uttered a statement and attributed it to the Presidential Spokesperson Amos Chanda.

Meanwhile, Mr Chanda says President Lungu of will abide by provisions of the Constitution with regards to his inauguration following his declaration as winner of the August 11 general election.

  1. The criminal is Lungu who doesn’t want to abide by the constitution & wants to rush his inauguration.

This must be the dullest lawyer Zambia has ever witnessed. Stealing the presidency is not as easy as stealing from a widow.

    Kikikiki.

    • Na @ Senior Citizen please show some maturity. So if people did not support the new constitution but it passed anyway then they should not refer to it or it does not apply to them? Then in your same immature logic the 49% who did not vote for ECL he is not their president?? Grow up man, sometimes greyhair is not always a sign of wisdom…

    • Lungu must respect the constitution. Why are the police, army, and OP all kneeing down to this one person like he is god. Please Judiciary, police, army, and OP you task is to protect Zambia. Zambian constitution, and Zambian not Lungu. Let him prepare for jail time. He should even start buying enough Jameson because he will need it in jail. We cannot allow one man to destroy the whole nation and we are watching. Lungu please step aside otherwise these people ill advising you will land you in big problems – your road to jail will be faster if you continue your illegal hold to power.

    • Why does PF think they know everything?? it is clear that where there is a petition Lungu should not be a president. why does lungu love power so much?? Its a shame. true leadership is about taking responsibility. the country is divided at the moment becoz of the wako ni wako nonsense. let Lungu step down

  2. Instead of just issuing threats please apprehend who ever has issued those statements. The law has already been broken

  3. Useless chaps. Can that dull chap handover instruments of power as the amended constitution is clear on that in cases of petitions to constitutional courts. What are they scared of? Was the chap drunk when he signed the document? Kiikiki

  4. God help Lungu to obey the Constitution. Hand over power to Matibini. You have NO choice.
Zambians have a way of remembering those who break the law. The example of FTJ Chiluba is still fresh.

  5. Iwe ka Nezi ka dumdumwezi you you are very useless and dull. I guess you are a little boy because of your cheap contributions on this platform.

  6. His Excellence Edgar Chagwa Lungu sir, step aside and show them that you are a man of honour. That you respect the law. We will celebrate you and we have always shown solidarity with you sir. Advise Tutwa and Amos to tone down. It does not suit them to comment when you are about to make a historical victory by shaming your adversaries by being a man of law.

  7. The Zambian aren’t gonna pay your debts your accrued whilst Campaigning.
You better start Liquadating your bloody Companies and the fleet of trucks as well selling your cows and payback.
Those Boers are coming after you
    Pathetic Retards.

  8. It’s unfortunate we elected such scrupulous PF leader as the president…. Oh sorry we didn’t vote the PF they cheated by theft. ECLmust step down if he is really the man of God.

    • You must be mentally unstable. Wake up and stop dreaming, HH will never be the president of Zambia, not in this life. He has the right to exercise his constitutional right to challenge the election results but the bottom line is that he is just wasting his time.

  9. HH is hoping that the president of concourt Chibomba and other Judges in the court will not nullify the election.HH has a Tonga sitting as a president(Chibomba),Mulonda a relative to Madam Kaseba,A lozi and somebody from Northwestern. For him it’s about tribe but these Judges should be sober before Zambia become the war zone should HH wins the petition. If HH wins the petition there will be tribal war in Zambia.Concourt will bring war or genocide in Zambia.HH can’t win in three provinces period.HH is a pure tribalist n we need to avoid him if Zambia wants to avoid tribal war.HH came into politics thru tribalism and now we are reaping his results. The con court is filled with a Tonga ,lozi, lenje, nothwestern n bemba but 4 judges support HH.HH has energy knowing he has tribemates in the…

    • Are you scared that PF malpracticed in the election? If you think they did not do anything wrong, the truth will always prevail and the liar will be shamed. So brother, no need for all those tribal talks, the truth will always prevail..

    • You sound like the tribalist my brother or is it sister. Winning is not about the number of province you win. Its about the majority of Zambians that have voted for you. Why do you want to start a war in Zambia? We are all bound by the constitution.

  10. Let’s resuscitate MMD the original party which belongs to the Zambia people not these personalised parties. These guys are planning on destroying the country for selfish reasons. HH is a desperate man and his desperation will land him in mirky water. He has all these good ideas but name one constructive thing he’s ever done for the Zambian people? Who is benefiting from his wealth? Zambians or foreign investors? He is the second biggest cattle rancher in the country, how has he lifted his workers from poverty? or has he? economics start from home not the office. You need have a connection with the people. He appears to be the only leader I now who fails to do that. Something about him which is not quite right.

    • @mwits, Well put right there. I have a feeling some people sound like because certain tribes are in majority, they are entitled to the presidency. NO! to TRIBALISM.

  11. Lungu must respect the constitution. Lungu please step aside otherwise these people ill advising you will land you in big problems – your road to jail will be faster if you continue your illegal hold to power.

  12. This is dullest president zambia has ever seen! He even fails to follow the law which he himself signed! “Webupuba ulakula”! Do the right thing iwe cicolour!

  13. I think the governance of this nation needs to make serious strides in educating our youngsters that we are protected and governed by the constitution and no single citizen is above it including the president. It is for this reason that continual perfection of the constitution is a reflection of an improved governance system. Presidents and MPs, Ministers and any other positions that exist by virtue of the constitution are just operatives. However they should have the capacity to uphold the constitution otherwise it is survival of the fittest. In that light any morally up Zambian who can read and write and count can be a president with no problems.

  14. This is another reason enough for the constitutional court to overturn the presidential election and ask for a rerun like Austria has done. Let the laws of the land be respected which Lungu does not respect in his pursuit to cling on to power.

  15. The fact is that Mr. Lungu did not reign himself to the thrown, either Mr. HH voted himself. I wonder why some people fight Mr. HH regardless his goodness, When look at Mr. HH I see a leader because he is accelerating from one point to the other, notwithstanding, people voted for him across the country meaning he is loved by Zambians. To Mr. Lungu I think he is a big obstacle for other leaders who think are better than him. when I recall, he is the same Lungu who was fought the previous year to the extent of reaching to court, similarly papers have been filed in (petition) this year against ECZ for declaring a winner, therefore, Mr. Lungu is the reason for filing not ECZ. However, to my own understanding and not to everyone, if God appoints, no one can disappoint no matter what kind of…

  16. ###9 My friend which planet do you come from,,,,, all your talk is tribal. you are saying the constitutional court is tribal just because there is a Lozi, Tonga or Lenje. First of all how did those people found themselves to be on that court…. I will help you on this one, president LUNGU appointed them, parliament signed on it, the LUNGU at state house peformed a swearing ceremony. Manje today you say it is tribal. MY friend you are sick, you need hospitalization

  17. Lungu must know that he is not above the as President Elect. He should step down b4 he is convicted for Treason. Lungu by refusing to handover power to Speaker of Parliament Lungu is confirming that indeed he did not win these elections HH did. What is Lungu fearing if indeed he won this election cleanly? Lungu has something to hide. Lungu’s silence on this issue confirms that he stole the election from HH.

  18. This is a remarkable situation in the history of the republic…… its shocking that ECL does not want to hand over power when this is the same fallout he had with Guy Scot I guess what goes around indeed come around
