National Restoration Party (NAREP) President Elias Chipimo says the implementation of the new constitution that was adopted in January this year has come with a lot of challenges for the nation.

And the NAREP Leader says there is need to interpret audaciously the meaning of the fourteen days of hearing the presidential petition as stipulated in the republican constitution.

Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Chipimo says in the interest of justice and moving forward, there is an urgent need of interpreting the law fairly and firmly.

Mr. Chipimo says he stands as a neutral person and wants the correct thing over this matter to be done.

He says there is need to allow the process to come to its natural and logical conclusion so that whatever the outcome the people will trust the court’s independent.

Mr. Chipimo has also called on various stakeholders to ensure that they guide the nation during this trying path for most Zambians so that even after the whole petition issue, people will still remain united.

He says it must also be understood for leaders that in an election there must be a winner and a looser and thus the need to accept the results.

  1. Indeed, the interpretation of 14 days has really been shamboilic. Even the handing over of power to the Speaker couldn’t be resolved. How can simple issues like that cause so much confusion? We have a long way to go. We shouldn’t even celebrate that we have a new constitution.

  2. OBJECTIVITY VERSUS SUBJECTIVITY -THE GAMES LAWYERS PLAY
    =========================
Even homes crumble if dwellers dwell so much on their personal interest rather that the interest of the family as a whole! Posterity will judge the history Zambia is developing now.
You lawyers are the most hypocritical beings nature has ever witnessed. Fair enough your usual threatened livelihood banks how credible the evidence was. We can not subtract the love of money and corruption in your profession. In your jobs, life and success is not judged from the moral point of view but how many cases you smartly argue out. Cases are lost on account that a witness to a hot case was a drunkard or a prostitute, guilty walk free. This HH cannot be allowed to hold the country at ransom; does he believe he has a…

  3. Prof Mvunga told the court the 14 day issue and the judges were supposed to listen cos he was one of the architect of the very constitution but they ignored due hh selfishness

  4. I don’t see a reason why these armature concourt judges could succumb to a nonentity like under five HH . Is it because he is a satamis?

  5. Let’s not speculate but wait for the outcome today. The Concourt has two options, dismiss the case as the 14 days have elasped or explain to the nation how the extension has been legally applied. Our justice system needs a complete ovahaul as it’s failed on all fronts when it comes to high profile cases.

To the ConCourt I say “Let right be done”, to send a stern warning to those who may be capitalising on this technicality to cause further problems at the next general election. The future of Zambia should be determined by the people of Zambia and not by a panel of wigs who decide to take the matter in their own hands.

  6. Indeed, the future of Zambia should be determined by the Zambian people in their majority and not the panel of less than 20 people.

  7. WHERE in Africa, when Election election results come so close does any one accept defeat?

THE YOUNG MAN CHIPIMOS OBSERVATION LIKE THAT OF GEN MIYANDA IS SPOT ON, OUR, Zambian constitution HAS too many FLAWS..SUPPOSING WE WERE TO GO FOR RE-RUN and the elections produce the same SAME result (almost 50/50) are we going to go for another RE-RUN??

    • No my friend, in a ‘re-run it’s first past the post. 50+1 doesn’t apply, so there will be a winner by whatever margin.

If the two candidates end up with equal votes (highly unlikely), then there shall be a fresh general election within 60days and all other parties will be allowed to field candidates. The constitution is however not clear about this.

  8. Stupid PF do you work on weekends if you never went to school you kaponya’s please don’t miss interpret the low it ‘s 14 working day’s even a simple thing you need to confuse your selves justice is needed stupid kaponya’s
