Speaker of the National Assembly Dr Patrick Matibini has described the boycotting of the ceremonial opening of parliament by UPND members as grave and referred the matter to the privileges committee which is yet to be appointed for consideration.

Speaking when he made a ruling whether UPND members of parliament were in order by not paying true allegiance to the President as sworn on oath by boycotting the ceremonial opening of parliament on Friday, Dr Matibini said the matter was grave.

“Maiden speeches are ordinary not amenable to points of order, however granted the nature of the subject matter that has been raised, I would like to inform the house that in any case, I have since received a complaint from the government chief whip as those of you who were present during the orientation seminar may be aware. I did underscore the importance of the role that the government chief whip plays in the maintenance of the House,” said Dr Matibini.

“To that extent and invoking standing order 151sub 2 and 3, I have since resolved to refer this matter to the privileges committee. The privileges committee will in due course, after I constitute it, attend to this rather grave matter,” he said.

  1. What is grave is MATABINI failing to act as president during the petition as prescribed by the constitution.

    That killed democracy in Zambia.

    • He this is now beyond embarrassment and perplexing of the highest level of proficiency mediocrity, seriously!
Where was the speaker,Matibini during the presidential petition in the corrupted Con-Court?
A “grave matter” is Edgar of PF’s blind failure of handing over power to the speaker, in this case, Matinibi Patrick. Its a “grave matter” also for the speaker’s failure of assuming the instruments of power from Edgar, stipulated by the constitution to Matibini. Alas, illegality reigns supreme! The speaker to first assume powers of the presidency, then people can talk forward.

  2. What is also grave is loosing elections in life history 6 times and now want to use back door to rule this country. Go through the New Constitution and understand what it says about first ballot and second ballot concerning the Speaker, don’t be like your party president who is allergic to the Constitution?

  3. What is grave is HING’OMBE HILEDE telling canicius to exculpate himself and he himself doesn’t want to be exculpated by LUNGU for illegal gatherings etc etc, what a ka stubborn DICK-traitor.

  4. I’m just keenly waiting to see how HH and his UPND will inevitably come to their senses and change course from their current self destructive trajectory! What will they say against their burdensome pride?

  5. @4 don’t lose any sleep we have just had a glimpse of how HH would mismanage the nation. Stubborn, arrogant and not in touch with reality…fire anyone who questions you!

  6. MR. SPEAKER SIR! ALLOW ME TO CONTRIBUTE TO THIS AUGUST HOUSE. IN GRADE 1, WE ALL LEARNT OF 1+BOX=3. FROM THIS BASIC CONCEPT, THE HUMAN MIND HAS EVOLVED AROUND AND BEHAVIOR IS JUST AROUND THERE. A HUMAN BEING WILL ALWAYS FIND WHAT TO PUT IN THE BOX, BE IT WRONG OR CORRECT. WHAT AM I TRYING TO SAY HERE? PEOPLE DESERVE ANSWERS TO THEIR CONCERNS. THE AGGRIEVED PARTY MUST BE ACCORDED CHANCE TO BE HEARD (DO NOT HUNG HIM WITHOUT A FAIR TRAIL) MR. SPEAKER SIR! WHEN U FAIL TO PROVIDE THE ANSWER IN THE BOX, ANYONE IS FREE TO PUT THEIR OWN ANSWER THERE MR. SPEAKER SIR! EVERY BEHAVIOR IS CAUSED & IN THIS CASE, U & THE SYSTEM CAUSED THEIR BEHAVIOR. I THANK U SIR

  7. NO AMOUNT OF SILLY POSTINGS ON THIS SITE WILL SAVE THE UNDER FIVE PARTY MPS. AS THINGS STAND THEY ARE ON THEIR WAY OUT BECAUSE EVERYONE WILL BE WATCHING. UNDER FIVE AND HIS PIMP FAT ALBERT MUST SEPARATE MATTERS OF THE STATE FROM POLITICS. ANY FURTHER ABSENCE, AND THE MPS WILL BE EXPELLED FROM PARLIAMENT PROMPTING BYELECTIONS. I CANT SEE THOSE MPS FROM KOPALA AND WESTERN PROVINCE COMING BACK. THEIR SEATS WILL SURELY GO TO PF, MAKING ZAMBIA A DEFACTO ONE PARTY STATE… WATCH THIS SPACE YOU MORONS.

  8. @7 Bang bang, it is this silly type of thinking which is eating at the moral fiber of your political party, where you see everything in the eyes of tongaland. no one will give you space for as long as your small brain continues to masturbate and in the negative for that matter.zambia is bigger than bantu botatwe.

  9. PF pushing for expulsion because as things stand now, no new ministry will be formed and whatever they may want to do will not go through in parliament because their total number does not add up to two thirds.

  10. JUST PARDON THEM AND GIVE A WARNING. THEY SHOULD DECIDE IF THEY ARE WORKING FOR THOSE THAT VOTED FOR THEM OR PRESIDENT LUNGU AND MR. HH. KNOW WHERE THEY STAND IN THIS WHOLE MESS. SOMETIMES IT’S NOT GOOD TO FOLLOW THE CROWD.LEARN TO TAKE A DIFFERENT ROUTE EVEN IF IT MEANS WALKING ALONE. MEANING UPND MPs , ON THIS ISSUE YOU HAVE THE POWER TO DECIDE NOT MR. HH. YOU FIRST TOOK AN INDIVIDUAL WELL CALCULATED DECISION TO WANT TO BE AN MP, THEN YOU PUT THE RESOURCES IN IT, WHEN CAMPAIGNING AND LASTLY PEOPLE VOTED FOR YOU. NOW WHERE IS YOUR PASSION. ALL THE HARD WORK AND LEAVING FAMILIES ALONE FOR WEEKS CAMPAIGNING FOR NOTHING? PLEASE SNAP OUT IT! AND PUT YOU THINKING CAPS ON.ITS WORK FOR 5 YEARS. YOU CAN DO IT.

  11. @ Chalimbana Kolwe ,You are so bitter. Calling someone a MONKEY falls under RACISM . So i dont know your ethnicity but do something about your TOXIC MINDSET. It will not get you anyway, even in your private life, things cannot go well , if you keep this TOXIC MIND AND KEEP ACTING IT OUT. Life is bigger than you self.. LOVE IT AND IT WILL LOVE YOU BACK. Ask God or Allah in prayer to help you learn how to accept this you cannot change and embrace the things you hate as you do those you love. Don’t look for strength and peace from anybody, but look for them from within your self.
