FAZ seeks Sunday tonic

Share

Respite is the name of the game on Sunday not only on the Zambia bench but up in the VIP box at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola when Zambia hosts Nigeria in a 2018 World Cup Group B qualifier.

It hasn’t been an easy first seven months at the helm for FAZ Andrew Kamanga since he toppled Kalusha Bwalya in March.

So early into his reign, Kamanga faces his biggest challenge since 2011 after Kabwe Warriors were demoted in a season before beating the odds when he steered them back with a quick return to the FAZ Super Division in 2013.

Zambia failed to qualify to the 2017 Africa Cup and was then hit by an age cheating scandal at the Cosafa Under-20 Cup including the Under-17 teams second round exit in the CAF U17 qualifiers and 2016 Cosafa Cup quarterfinal exit.

On Sunday, the new regime will be banking new Zambia coach Wedson Nyirenda for a tonic as they begin to finally make a clean break with the vestiges of another legacy.

Nyirenda has been tasked with bringing some early fortunes on the pitch for the new regime who have so far managed to score some success off the pitch with financial transparency and the ongoing administrative restructuring at Football House.

    • The Nigeria ONCE SUPER Eagles are in their worst form now – both technically and financially. In fact the team relies more on John zoning Mikel’s pocket than their FA. Ordinarily, this is when a clever opponent would take advantage at home and beat them 3-0. This is what Zambia should do to make it in this group of death. No draw and no lukewarm wins!!!

  1. FAZ, kindly engage some Pastors to go and pray at the stadium. We do not know what is happening at Levy. We are having too many draws and believe me or not we might start losing at this stadium. We divine intervention.

  3. Comment: we really need goals tomorrow…. the coach should make sure that comes to pass or else we are coming out of that match with a draw!!!

  4. The waste of FAZ administrtion we ever had, with such poor record loses and poor leadership exhibited within 7 months I personlly do not think this wanna be football admin, Kamanga and his admin are taking us anywhere. There is no way Zambia will beat Nigeria especially with such poorly designed Jersey by KAPPA. You must be dreaming to think Zambia will win. My predication is that Zambia-0-Nigeria -2 . #KamangaMustGO
