All ten Provincial Ministers will next month travel to China to attend a developmental workshop at the invitation of the Chinese government.

Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba said President Edgar Lungu has since authorized the Ministers’ participation in the workshop.

ZANIS reports that Mr. Kalaba disclosed this during a meeting he held with the Provincial Ministers at Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lusaka yesterday.

He urged the provincial Ministers to learn the best developmental practices while in china, and implement them in the respective provinces they oversee for the benefit of the people.

Kalaba said the Zambian officials will be in Beijing, China from November 15th to 24th 2016 under the tutelage of the Economic Councillor.

Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, Yang Youming acknowledged President Edgar Lungu for his big decision on having all the Provincial Ministers to go to china to understand economic and social development.

Mr. Kalaba said the visit by the provincial ministers will help strengthen the warm relations that have existed between Zambia and China since 1964.

He said Zambia attaches great importance to its relations with China which is evidenced by the frequent exchange of high level visits between the two countries and the numerous projects being undertaken by Chinese contractors in the country.

Mr. Kalaba called for more interaction between the two countries through frequent consultations and exchange visits to address key issues of common interest.

  1. i would rather have technocrats go there than ministers who are at the risk of being fired anytime.
by the way who is paying for this trip?

    • Zambians forget so easily, Remember when EL went to Chain, The head line was Lungu woes chines investors, But up to now not even one has step on the Zambian soil, Now its these party carders going at tax payers expense, what are they going to learn, how to implement the PF manifesto.

    • Those ministers were asked to write reports to their disputed Edgar Lungu. Submit those reports before going on independence cerebration trip to China.

  2. Please go learn , come and apply what you have learnt, not keeping it to your selves. Travel Safely and have reasonable work fun.

  3. They will just go for sightseeing and get hefty allowances. We have had a lot of international trips undertaken by civil servants, politicians and other officers in parastatals but what development have they brought here except to fatten their pockets? These trips are supposed to produce a noticeable change in the nation. The poverty levels are ever rising.Crap!

  4. What planet do these so called leaders come from? Does saying “at the invitation of the Chinese Gov’t” justify the trip? These people will still claim allowances from state coffers either before they leave or upon their return that is Guaranteed.
Is there anyone in our corridors of power who even just for 5 seconds in a day, thinks about the welfare of the majority of their fellow citizens?

  5. Anyone who has worked anywhere knows that you cannot learn anything in 2 days or 1 week. Zambia should ‘grow’ its own leaders. What have people been doing all their life, if they are being sent now to learn what they should already be doing? In Zambia everything foreign is great. We just learn and learn but we implement nothing but corruption. The government is bloated and full of misfits.

  6. BTW this amounts to mental corruption. After the so called tutelage, these people will work at the dictates of Chinese. No thinking will be involved whatsoever. Anything that the Chinese say will be gospel. Shame on us!

  7. This is just to ingrain Chinese corruption.
These ministers will be shown how to select Chinese companies for projects.

It’s called marketing by the Chinese.

  8. There are lots of things and happenings in China which can distract your attention from your main purpose of going there. Be focused, don’t blink or else you might just miss the point. Already the opposition is concerned about the quality of our ministers wondering whether they are capable of delivering and here you are, given an opportunity to prove them wrong.
