Konkola Blades are on the verge of returning to the FAZ Super Division after opening a four point lead at the top of Division One Zone Two table with two matches remaining in the season.
Coach Enos Silwimba’s Blades at the weekend overcame Zesco Solwezi 2-1 at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe to increase their tally to 57 points after playing 28 matches.
Kilo Mwepu and Joseph Kanema scored for the home side.
Konkola are four points above second placed Kitwe United who were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Roan United at Garden Park Stadium on Sunday.
The Chililabombwe side need at least three points from their last two matches to bounce back to the top flight league.
Konkola’s next fixture is away at Chingola Police in Chingola.
Meanwhile, Roan remained in distant third with 52 points from 28 matches after the draw at Kitwe.
Bottom placed Zesco Solwezi have been demoted to Division Two following a 2-1 loss at Konkola.
Zesco remain stuck on 15 points.
Elsewhere in Zone Two, 15th placed Mining Rangers are on the verge of being demoted as well.
Mining will be demoted if Bresmar United who are above them win any of their remaining two matches.
