THE Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) has congratulated Lillian Fulata Shawa Siyuni on her recent appointment as Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

LAZ president Linda Kasonde said in a statement yesterday that this was the first time that a woman was holding the position in a substantive capacity.

“LAZ would also like to see a satisfactory by the courts particularly the Constitutional Court of the pending issues as to how and when a DPP who is guaranteed security of tenure under the Constitution can be removed from office. This is to ensure that all occupiers of high office truly enjoy security of tenure,” she said.

President Edgar Lungu has since sworn in Ms Siyuni.

    • This information maybe incorrect. I thought first female DPP was Carol Zulu Sokoni, who took over from the Late Mukelabai during the Mwanawasa era.

    • If she was my wife or relative i would advise her to stay away from Es Political fight coz the poor lady will be reporting at state house to take orders from a failed lawyer, who stole from a client and signed a constitution without leading it which has brought about all the con

    • She is hotty, she will be bribed like no other. And no one to prosecute her, already receiving congratulatory messages on bank certified cheques. By this sunday 30th October she will be as rich as Edgar, K200million a week!!!

    • @Snake bite u should also be “Reading” your comments not “Leading” who did not “lead” the constitution?? ….lol

  1. This is not a puppet she read law has over 20 years work related judicial experience unlike GBM or HH who are clinging on to a legal suit they know they will lose at the expense of the party and further marring chances of wining in 2021…if he is still at the helm as the dictator we shall lose goal number 6! Zambia Forward

  2. There was a lady who was acting as DPP at one point, something Sokoni. I guess she doesn’t count as first woman DPP?

  3. Reporters also. Give us her background.
Where did she/has she worked before becoming DPP
Her achievements in brief. What is outstanding about her.
    Her husband
    Her Children
Where did she go to school
    Her first boyfriend (optional)
What does she like outside work.
These are points which would spice up the story.
