Dismissed Information Minister Chishimba Kambwili has pledged continued loyalty to the ruling Patriotic Front, hours after he was sacked by President Edgar Lungu.
Dr Kambwili who is also Roan MP said he will continue to execute my duties as Roan member of Parliament and a member of central committee.
He has also thanked God for the favour and President Edgar Lungu for according him the opportunity to serve in his government saying it was a real pleasure being part of President Lungu’s team.
In a Facebook posting, Dr Kambwili said, “I have recently learnt of my dismissal as Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services through the media. I would like to first and foremost thank God for his favour, I would also like to thank His Excellency the president Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu for according me the opportunity to serve in his government, it was a real pleasure being part of his team.”
He added, “I remain a loyal member of the patriotic front, the party that is embedded in my heart, I will continue to execute my duties as Roan member of Parliament and a member of central committee. Thank you all for your messages of encouragement, we keep moving forward and working for the good of our party and the people at large.”
“I wish my former team well as they move on to a new chapter, it was a real pleasure working with you all as you made my job a lot easier. I wish the new Minister well as she takes on a fun and active ministry.”
And State House sources have revealed that Dr Kambwili’s sacking follows glaring evidence of his involvement in grand corruption.
The sources said Dr Kambwili is at the centre of a US$30 million corruption scandal involving road contracts.
The sources also revealed that another high profile official at State House is the next one likely to be dismissed over grand corruption schemes.
Recently, President Lungu issued a stern warning that he will start firing some Ministers on grounds of corruption after receiving overwhelming evidence of their involvement in grand graft.

Sacking alone is not enough. The ACC needs to move in to investigate him thoroughly. Put a microscope on him, and if found wanting, arrest him and have him prosecuted. Confiscate any asserts that he may have looted from the nation’s coffers, or illegally acquired through some dubious kickbacks. Send him away for a minimum 20 years. Make an example out of him, so others learn from it. Investigate other corrupt ministers too, including ECL himself, as we still want to know where he got the K13m increase in assets in 15 months. Only then shall we know that ECL, ACC and the rest of you in PF are serious about fighting corruption. So no, firing him alone is not enough.

The amount of money that has been looted is staggering. Some of the missing money is not even captured by the Auditor General’s report. It is disheartening that people entrusted to look after our interests can go on a rampage to loot with impunity. Kambwili has been sacrificed, the net must be cast much wider. It is amazing that in the midst of all this, Zambians are taking these revelations without showing any concern. In progressive countries, citizens would be demonstrating and putting pressure on the administration. What has happened to our people?

If you follow what South Africans are demanding over president Zuma corruption cases, they pick on Zambia as an example of a failed state where judicial system has collapsed. You can’t agree more than this with them. With a confirmed incompetent judicial system by the world, how can free, fair and credible elections be held in Zambia. This Thug/Vandal was supposed to be arrested long time ago, before 2002. He was involved in looting RAMCOZ smelter,Zambia Railways Rail slippers then the rails from Luanshya town to Luanshya’s Kwamkolwe. When his company registered at Mopani Mines as a contractor (Registration using Government position) He has looted Mopani Copper mines through unsatisfactory Geotech services in collaboration with Geotech personnel. He is very selfish and greedy and always dubious, Non of his moneys are clean. He even paid Winter Kabimba alot of money for him to be recognized in PF.

I have problems with the kind of English that has been written by Hon Kambwili in his article above. I notice there is a lot of misplacement of commas. Too many commas even where we needed full stops. “I wish the new Minister well as she takes on a fun and active ministry”. This should have been spelt as “funny”. This brings me to the 2nd point:-the Doctorate degree. With such poor construction of English, I doubt authenticity of the PhD.
If corruption allegation is the cause of his dismissal, then its well deserved thumbs up EL. I’m however of a view that EL never wanted CK in his cabinet on personal reasons.
