One man has been shot dead and three others beaten severely by suspected cattle rustlers who got away a herd of cattle in Libonda area of Kalabo District in Western Province
Both Kalabo Police officer in Charge Godwin Kanema Libonda area Ward Councillor Wamunyima Kaitwa confirmed the incident in separate interview.
Mr Libonda said police in the area was on the ground investigating the matter before the culprits are brought to book.
And Mr. Kaitwa on his part said that the incident took place around 20:00 hours last night at Linuu village .
He named the deceased as Batuke Batuke of Imwambo village who was a herd man who was accompanied by three of his colleagues before his death .
The Councillor explained that the rustlers had earlier tied two herdsmen after badly beating them before shooting one dead.
He said the cattle rustlers were armed with AK47 riffles and are suspected to be from a named neighbouring country .
Councillor Kaitwa has since appealed to ministry of Home Affairs to deploy more officers at Libonda police Post as the station only has one Officer.
