America based Zambian-born medical Doctor Robert Sakulanda has bought FAZ Division Two Copperbelt side Nkwiza Football Club.

Nkwiza chairman Musenga Chilembo said club handlers have reached an agreement with Dr. Sakulanda.

Chilembo said Dr. Sakulanda is taking over Nkwiza ahead of the 2017 season.

Nkwiza of Kitwe is known for nurturing ex-Chipolopolo defender Francis Kasonde, striker Gaston Sakala, retired Green Buffaloes player Dears Kakunta and Mufulira Blackpool keeper Happy Ng’ambi.

The clubs only appearance in the FAZ Super Division was in 2000.

“We have reached an agreement for Dr. Sakulanda to take over the club this year. He has all the rights. The current owners won’t have any shares once we conclude everything,” Chilembo said.

Dr. Sakulanda plans to relocate Nkwiza to Mufulira and rename it Mufulira United.

“I have bought Nkwiza Football Club. The Nkwiza name will change to Mufulira United. Nkwiza is based in Kitwe so the club will be relocated to Mufulira,” Dr. Sakulanda said.

“I will run the club alone but in future I will need people to support me. I want to contribute positively to the development of Zambian football,” he said.

Dr. Sakulanda added:” I want the club to nurture players who can feature for the national team.”

Dr. Sakulanda once served as Mufulira Wanderers team physician before relocating to America.

    • This is great. The question however is why didn’t he just set up a new club in Muf instead of buying an old club, relocating it and losing the name? One can relocate the talent into Muf from anywhere without the legacies of an old second tier club.

  1. He is looking for tax holidays on the items he has bought in America and wants to relocate to Zambia with a large amount of Medical Equipment. Just pay the taxes. If you have lived long enough, they can rebate the taxes.

    • What is wrong with tax holidays being given to Zambians when PF freely dishes them to foreigners? I would rather a fellow Zambian invested in Zambia than the Chinese and Indians who come on one pretext but conduct illegal activities like poaching rhinos and elephants.

  2. Good move Dr
