Late Reeves Malambo

Hundreds of mourners yesterday converged on the University Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Lusaka to attend the funeral church service for Autoforce proprietor Reeves Malambo

In a moving tribute, Mr Malambo’s 19-year-old daughter Nkombo described her father as a loving, brave and generous man who was committed to improving the lives of others.

Nkombo said it is very sad to lose a father especially that he was her teacher and best friend.

“My father was a strong believer in the Lord, he encouraged us and his siblings to trust in God and not to lean on our own understanding and that is why I am able to stand here [today] and stay strong for him and the family,” the law student, who is pursuing her studies in the United Kingdom, said amid sobs as the congregants also wept.

She said her father was hard-working and would always ensure that his children were comfortable and he would also go out of his way to help others in need.

“I loved him because he was brave and frank whenever we did anything wrong,” Ms Malambo said.

Earlier, Autoforce group sales, marketing and operations manager Felix Mweene described Mr Malambo as a father to many.

Mr Mweene said Mr Malambo’s death is a great loss to the nation especially that his consortium of over six companies created direct and indirect employment for over 1,000 people.

He urged Mr Malambo’s family to remain united and ensure the Autoforce empire continues to grow.

Earlier, Mazabuka central member of Parliament (MP) Gary Nkombo, who is out of the country, said in a speech presented by a family representative that he is trying to come to terms with the death of Mr Malambo.

And speaking on behalf of Canisius High School former students, business entrepreneur Windu Matoka said Mr Malambo used to offer loans to entrepreneurial Canisius High School alumni.
And in a sermon, Pastor Evans Manjimela said the death of Mr Malambo is a reminder that death can hit anytime and “we are alive by God’s grace”.

Mr Malambo will be buried today at Moses Malambo farms in Nega-Nega in Mazabuka.

Mr Malambo is survived by a wife, Ngoza, and five children.

Meanwhile, House of Chiefs chairperson Chief Ntambu has called on his fellow traditional leaders to help counsel citizens on the effects that spouse killings and other forms of gender-based violence (GBV) have on the country’s development agenda.

Chief Ntambu said chiefs are concerned about the spate of spouse killings that have rocked the nation, with the latest being the death of Mr Malambo, who was last Sunday allegedly stabbed to dead by his girlfriend, Ms Benos.

  1. Bwafya, survived by wife and killed by girlfriend. Being a side piece ain’t easy. It can create Fatal Attraction. Don’t blame the player, blame the game.

    • What a relief for the poor wife. At least she won’t be humiliated by his wondering “john” any more! Sorry for the kids too.

    • God bless those of you who never sin as well as those whose sin has not been found out (yet). Congrats on taking over Gods role of judgement. #zibazako

    • Ati he was a God fearing father, her teacher, and a strong believer in the Lord, he encouraged us and his siblings to trust in God and not to lean on our own understanding”. Leaving wife only to be killed by a girl friend (ubuchende) and you call that new normal? silence is Golden.

Ala lesa nimalyotola. He can never be mocked.

    • Sad as it is this should serve as a warning to all men who think cheating on their wives is just one of those things. God’s word says the wages of sin is death.

  2. Jesus said to the Pharisees, “he who has no sin, stone this woman to death.” They all left in shame. Don’t judge. We are sinners, including the Pope….
    and TB Joshua.

    • Pointing out something wrong is not judgement. Way Reeves died is shameful and that cannot be denied but as to his fate, only God knows. Big lesson to those of us still alive to live like it is our last on earth

    • Its a total misunderstanding to think were are judging and we’re somewhat happy, we’re very sad.Church and societies have rules,SDA forbid polygamy by all accounts the deceased was in a long time relationship in essence polygamy of some sort, SDA would be in order if it allows polygamy to conduct the service, but clearly wrong if it doesn’t.Its putting a stamp of approval on extra marital relations by the church. Who will litsen to them when they preach against it?

  3. Sad news its painful to die like that. The side chick should be panished for taking the life of this galant son of the soil. I feel for his family especially kids may God comfort you

    • Women are killers, whether its your wife or girlfriend. Most men have died unnoticed from the hands of women considering the law which actually favours them than men. My only advise to men is be careful with them whether its your wife or not. Most women pretend to love their men in public just to show off to other people when deep down they can sacrifice to kill their men when chance allows. Dont underrate the first person to be deceived by a snake!

  4. It’s so confusing to hear the life Mr.malambo led. I admire his business successes, but he had no morality it seems to me, leaving his wife and children and went to merry with other women? you rich people who are still playing hide and seek, this is a great lesson to learn from, to all of us, men and women.

  5. Imwe bantu, extra marital affairs are allowed in the region where he comes from. Why do you think they are called tonga bulls? Perfectly legal, and I am sure wife, family and church knew that and accepted.

I just felt pity for the widow, all those eyes in church looking at her and imagining all sorts of things which I can’t mention in case I reduce myself to the levels of Chilyata.

And that girl friend, she looks like a drug addict, what do you think?

  6. The good of the man is said in full, but I think the cause of his death should have been mentioned as a lesson to others.

  7. Where I come from same as Reeves a wife is for bearing children and respect and ceremonial. For bulls enjoy is somewhere else.

  8. We are aggrieved by the sad demise of a great businessman but surprised at the approval by Seventh Day Adventist of his unchristian lifestyle. As much as many have sinned even here, wrong is wrong. We might as well stop preaching the gospel at all and the 10 commandments. The mission of the church remains to preach morality
A private ceremony would have been more appropriate with elders. In essence this is approving a wrong lifestyle.
Sorry and sad for the company and family, its not judgement, the judge not scripture is taken out of context. Does it mean now we will call sin righteousness?

  9. Tongas are SDAs for convenience only.
HH is address rallies, meetings and press conferences & attend court hearings on the Sabbath (Saturday).

    • Dont confuse things here my friend! HH is there to serve the people. Its all about the majority citizens who are perishing in poverty diseases and hunger as a result of corrupt governance. Most people die before their time because of poor government policies. Jesus once said who would let his animal which has fallen in the ditch on the sabbath remain there until the sabbath is over? No one. Meaning He does not exclude here that the sabbath is not binding anymore but its better you do productive choices on the sabbath that of serving others. The main purpose we go to church is to serve others those who have not received Him as their savior not to register our presence. We can even worship in our homes if we wanted but making a choice of caring for the people around us is worshipping God…

  10. And Jesus said unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees, you cannot enter the Kingdom of God. He called Pharisees and taechers of law as white washed tombs. I still believe when one sins, pointing out the sin with the view to restoring those with an opportunity to change is not judging, and for those like Reeves, they become bad examples to avoid.

  11. @ The real Olivia Pope you clown.

Reeves Malabo never married and he was a very successful Businessman among the Top 10 rich men in LSk.

He was a very dedicated member of SDA church such that non of his business operated at all on Saturdays.ok @ Truth Seeker “the loser and hater”
    MHSRIP

    • Even worse for an SDA that she wasn’t his wife. He can be successful but he died a shameful death, lets not hide away from that. Paul Ngozi be REAL! @The Real Olivia Pope, spot on.

    • Two Kids with Ngoza and the other three from where? You seem to know more about the private life of the late please give us the full dossier.

  12. And what about the other murder of the son and girl friend. Do they need to pay to be covered. Two stories of murders same time and date ,only one gets the attention of the media and police. Unfair world. Man and money

    • Indeed the other one was even worse where two lives where lost yet only one death is publicised. Thats what money can do!

    • @Child of God… Reeves has companies that employ a lot of young people out there…He has been helping the disadvantaged kids with their education,he was not only popular…His deeds baba matters. He has developed communities…

As long as Man lives here on
earth, he has an opportunity to repent and live right with God.
Therefore, we are all warned to examine ourselves first before we examine others.
However the book of Hebrews 9:27-28 says ‘’ just as people are destined to die once , and after that to face judgment, so Christ was Sacrificed once to take away the sins of many ; and he will appear second time , not to bear sin ,but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him .
He has given us his word ( like a mirror) as a standard to judge how we live here on earth . If we live outside his word , we deny him .If we live with him , in accordance with his word , we accept him.
In him we live, we move and have our being. In John 8:12 we read ‘’ Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the…

  14. @ Paul Ngozi

Are sure Reeves Malambo was never married and was a very successful businessman and was among the Top 10 rich men in LSk! You came that he was also a very dedicated member of SDA church such that none of his business operated at all on Saturdays.
Please sk the widow of BY and also HH who is always addressing press conferences whilst his animals starve in the fields on Saturdays because of this nefarious interpretation of our Bible.

  15. How can God believing man die in the hand of a girlfriend? Preachers let us preach the truth and correct wrong things that citizens are doing. There is no judgment here when one is trying to correct the wrong thing that some does. The wages of sin is death ,says the scripture thanks

  16. “My father was a strong believer in the Lord, he encouraged us and his siblings to trust in God and not to lean on our own understanding.

Which strong believer does not understand what Jesus said in Matthew 19:5, 6? “…a man will leave his father and his mother and will stick to his wife, and the two will be one flesh’? 6?So that they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has yoked together, let no man put apart.”

Was not the girlfriend and himself not putting apart what God had yoked together? Did not the girlfriend finally succeed in putting the man completely apart from his wife? Bane mwilasenteka Lesa, What ever a man is sowing, this he will also reap. God is not the one to be mocked.

  17. Do you think the path from poverty to wealth is always pure and honorable? I have done many things, Khaleesi, that a righteous man would condemn.
