  1. I have only heard jet fighting story of peter zuze, i don’t even know if they were true or false, but all same, these ZAF pilots don’t deserve fighter pilot title, all of just retire and die without a single air dogfight, there only good at transporting ballot papers, politicians and cadres during campaigns. Congrats baby muwamba on becoming a pilot, not a fighter pilot.

  2. Headline without a story. You can’t write something LT? Pure copy n paste- I believe in copy n paste but not in this fashion

  3. @Divide & Rule – I heard of Peter Zuze too. I just hope there was a way of recalling such stories so that we authenticate them. There many stories I can love to reaffirm so that we talk them with confidence not kwati tushimi e.g. Late Goalkeeper Kafwanako……whose story is more of a tale

    • Let’s hope LT will do us that favor, especially the story of one peter zuze taking on the entire Ian Smith fighter pilots right in their backyard . If true Zambian film makers should do something about it.

    • Ba Brown Envelope:

It is “Nkafwa nayo” meaning I will die with it (ball). Yes, the story is true and it should be in the ZNBC archives when Zambia played Zaire (now DRC) at the 1974 Africa Cup. The only reason we came second was because we lost to DRC when Nkafwa Nayo died in goal.

As for Peter Zuze … he is a legend among the smart people of the Zambian Enterprise. He was the first and last Zambian fighter pilot to have flown a MiG close to the ionosphere; right at the edge of space, while flying in stealth mode. None of the countries radars in Africa could detect him except Egypt.

The Zambian Military was the best in Africa at the time, no one messed with us, that’s why all freedom fighters from other countries escaped to Zambia … What A Sweet Life!!!

  4. The fact that this is news under pf shows you that indeed Zambia has gone backward. What is so special that a woman shouldn’t be expected to fly. Anyway we just hope for her safety with those outdated Chinese fighter jets. Hope you have insurance

  5. The names suggest she’s not Zambian. She sounds more of a high-breed between Zulu and Congolais; hope she won’t desert with one of those GBM-procured Choncholi jets. Tukashale na muli mwamoneni.

  6. She not Zambian, but congratulations gal. Are we ever going to see or hear Zambian jet pilots take part in an international air show? Think been a Zaf pilot is boring more of been an interstate bus driver

    • Watch this YouTube video maybe it will help erase your ignorance: (www.youtube.com/watch?v=grXKG04In70.)

By the way, I myself have a beautiful wonderful niece by that name, Thokozile. Mother, Ngoni (Eastern Province), Father, Swaka/Lamba (Central Province). So let us stop this st#p!d IGNORANCE!

    • It doesn’t matter. All pilots go through those stages. Even commercial pilots have to accumulate a certain number of hours of flying on smaller aeroplanes before they move on to bigger ones.

    • And what’s wrong with flying an L-15 trainer before graduating to more advanced fighter jets? By the way, this is not a pushover jet like you want to make sound. Checkout this YouTube video so you can appreciate the capabilities of some of these military equipment Zambia is investing in– (www.youtube.com/watch?v=grXKG04In70.)

Countries equip their Air Forces according to their needs, budgets, and the geopolitics in the neighborhood. Why would you want Zambia, with no expansionist or hegemonic intentions or tendencies to start buying unnecessary extravagant and expensive equipment, both in terms of the initial price tag and maintenance? Just for bragging rites? Isn’t that shallow and silly really?

    • So you think the security agencies didn’t screen her before she was recruited into the Air Force. And for your information, the name Thokozile is found in Eastern Province among the Ngonis, Zimbabwe, Botswana, South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland and Lesotho. Muwamba is common in Zambia, DRC and Malawi. “Muwamba” is also a variant of “Mwamba.” Ndiye vuto na ma boyi. Instead of celebrating a victory someone is busy trying to be a Donald Trump.

    • I have a beautiful wonderful niece by that name, Thokozile. Mother, Ngoni (Eastern Province), Father, Swaka/Lamba (Central Province). So let us stop this st#p!d IGNORANCE!

  7. The Late ZAF Commander General Lungu was equally a legend. Some stories attributed to Zuze were in fact of General Lungu such as the training in the then Soviet Union where Lungu came out top of his flight squadron class beating even the soviets record, where they had to pass under bridges and through tunnels.
Still congrats to this lady officer, well done!

    • I was hoping that someone will give us tangible info on zuze Peter, here you come with another legend, we don’t want legends, utushimi ukokwine ku pf, lungu, lungu, what lungu, passing under bridges, through tunnels, was he a kamikaze pilot?

One on one air combat fight(dogfight) with her would be amazing, just to see if she can pass through tunnels, or under bridges running away from my Stealth.

  8. 50 years after independence thats when we get the first female fighter officer pilot it speaks volumes…we should be ashamed. What of all those ZAF soldiers in Graduation Parades are they all cleaners and air stewardess.

    • It’s not just in Zambia, where the military has not treated women fairly. As recent as 2010 there was still debate in the US as to whether women soldiers should be allowed at fight at the battle front with the men. Globally, there are just a handful of women pilots. Thokozile could be just one of less than 20 fighter pilots in Africa. For all his sins, Eric Chimense should be applauded that one day he’ll leave ZAF as the first commander to train a female fighter pilot. History has been written and cannot be denied regardless. I don’t know about now but of three years ago, the Head of the Transport Fleet at ZAF HQ was a woman Lt. Colonel.

    • Being in the battle front line is another issue all together …those countries already have women officer Pilots flying attack Apaches and fighter Jets.

    • The problem here is you don’t understand what a fighter pilot is, flying a C-130 Hercules to transport hardware is not that …don’t you know that you can be a Lt Colonel from an Accounting and Engineering background!!

  9. Peter Zuze was a Malawian.
    Thokozile is Xenophobian (South African)
    Alex Chola was Congolese
    Denis Liwewe was Malawian
    Sunzu is Kasai
    KK is Malawian
Bishop John Mambo is South African
    Elizabeth Mataka is from Botswana
    Sata was Tanzanian
    FTJ was a Kasai
    Lungu is Malawian
    RB is Malawian
    Augustine Seyuba is Angolan
    Silvia Masebo is Zim
Mujajati (Zambia Medical Association) is a gore-gore
    The list is loooong……

Zambia is a porous country, pipo just cross freely behind the border post and before we know it, they r presidents. Yet NO zambian can become a pilot in RSA, Zim, Bots, DRC.

    • @Cain. if u want to become a naturalized Zambian, apply through the legal channels available at Immigration Dept.

Not just walk behind the border & go get a fraudulent NRC. Just visit Kasumbalesa, Nakonde , Mokambo border posts & eastern province borders with Malawi. Immigrants just walk across without any fear. Lebanese fly in & within 1 week they r Zambians. Chinese “infestors” come in containers, within a month they r Zambians. Look at hte number of Zimbo street vendors when they were cruel to Zambians after they got their independence.

Almost all the pipo I’ve mentioned never naturalized thru the legal channels. Zambians r being chased, deported from UK, USA RSA, Botswana etc. We need to protect our borders & make Zambia great!

    • Maloza stop carbon copying white people. Focus on African pride and you won’t sees foreigner in every Zedian. Donald trump whom u are imitating is a buffoon but u want to carbon copy him just because he is white

  10. Actually the purpose of any army is to fight and prevent wars. The fact that Zambia has a strong army, and weapons, is a factor that would prevent any country with a weaker force from engaging Zambia in fighting. Even in UK or USA, not every soldeir has been involved in fighting. Moreover, army pilots are traineed to fly planes with different purposes such as bombers, fighters, carriers, reconneissance, transport, etc.

  11. Great job girl. Whilst the f00lz are here condemning you and calling you a foreigner meanwhile their daughters are busy twerking and sleeping with married men for money for hair, bundles etc
