President Edgar Lungu yesterday graced the 2017 colorful Kuomboka traditional ceremony of the Lozi people which was attended by thousands of people.
The Litunga’s six hour journey started from Lealui on the loya Badge – Nalikwanda to Limulunga where scores of people welcomed him.
The Nalikwanda docked at the Nayuma Harbour at 17:30 hours amidst loud applause from thousands of spectators.
The Litunga soon after disembarking met president Lungu and exchanged greetings before walking to the palace arena.
The Litunga together with President Lungu walked from Nayuma Harbour to Limulunga Palace.
The Litunga, Lubosi Imwiko the second, together with President Lungu sat on the traditional seats at Limulunga Palace to mark the climax of the Kuomboka traditional ceremony.
This year, the Nalikwanda had 180 paddlers plus drummers hitting almost 200 people on board. Justice Minister Given Lubinda was among the paddlers.
Meanwhile, United Party for National Development (UPND) has said that Zambia Police almost blocked his entourage from entering the arena at Limulunga. In his facebook post, the UPND leader said that the Police action happened under the nose of President Lungu.
“This was happening right under the nose of those claiming to be leading our country. We have always called for peace and we were peaceful on our way to Limulunga, but due to the massive support we are receiving, we were closely and dangerously pursued by the police, ” Mr Hichilema wrote
“We thank God that no one died but clearly, this was an irresponsible thing for people that claim to be in leadership,” Mr Hichilema said.
Mr Hichilema described Police action as irresponsible, unnecessary and purely childish as it could have led to loss of life.
” In such circumstances where you have crowds, people could have died, but clearly there was no care from them,” Mr Hichilema wrote.

What happened at the Kuomboka ceremony was a compromise between the BRE, UPND and your President to convince the Barotse people to allow Edgar Lungu to officiate at the ceremony to avoid embarrassing him further than what he had gone through. By the way, @Lusaka Hour, did you see your ka President inspecting developmental projects while he was in Barotseland like he normally does when he visits other Regions of Zambia like Eastern, Northern, Muchinga and Luapula Provinces? After using ECZ and Concourt to rig the Election in his favour Lungu is now blaming these two Institutions for the Disputed and Petitioned Election. Lungu thought after stealing the Election he would bury the Petition,force everybody to recognize him and Rule Zambia forever. The Plan is not working and the Petition is very much alive. Lungu now needs Plan B. How does he resolve his illegitimacy without Hearing the Petition? Its not possible so Lungu cannot avoid the Petition Hearing and get away with it. It has been an eventful weekend full of drama. Firstly on behalf of the UPND our beloved party let me congratulate the people of the Barotseland for according us unmatched hospitality. It was great to see everyone buoyed by the occasion. I noticed Adolf and Fat Albert looking like two comedians that would make dif and bik green with envy. As we sat and chatted amongst ourselves we asked does this mean the MPs are now ‘free’ to attend functions graced by ‘hyena’ or is this selective attendance a preserve of the great leader and fatso! I take it the later as an antidote for calling upon trump. 2021 Zamfo new leadership!
