Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has dismissed allegations that incarcerated UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has been denied medical attention following claims that he is unwell.
Responding to query Mrs Katongo said Hichilema had been receiving medical attention from his private doctor since his detention.
Mrs Katongo who rubbished the claims said it was the Constitutional right for anyone in police cells to receive medical attention when they are not well.
She described all the allegations of police denying Hichilema medical attention as a lie.
“It is not true. From time he was detained his private medical doctor has always been allowed to visit him and conduct medical checks on him,” Mrs Katongo said.
“Even when an ordinary person is not well they are taken for medical attention. It is his constitutional right to have medical attention.This is just a lie.”

HAKAINDE HICHIPEMA IS WELL- POLICE, DOCTOR
LUSAKA, 16TH April, 2017- We would like to dispute the statement circulating on social media attributed to UPND Spokesperson Mr Charles Kakoma that the health of Mr Hakainde Hichilema is deteriorating in detention and that police have denied him medical attention.
The truth of the matter is that from the time Mr Hichilema was detained, the police have been allowing Mr Hakainde Hichilema’s personal doctor to visit him and conduct routine medical checks on him.
Statements such as the one attributed to Mr Charles Kakoma are misleading and bent on inciting members of the public and should be dismissed.
We do realise as police that even those people who may be in detention who do not have personal doctors or Lawyers are taken for medical attention in instances where they become unwell whilst in detention because it is their constitutional right.
One wonders why we could deny Mr Hichilema medical attention when he is just a suspect because even people who are convicted have got a right to medical attention.
As police we will not take such unjustified statements lightly because they are aimed at disturbilising the security of the nation.

The POLICE Officer who tried to crash HH’s vehicle in Mongu has died after a crash while escorting Lungu’s motorcade back to Lusaka.

If the the presidential motorcade was coming and sweepers order you to clear off the road and you willfully chose to refuse and continue hagging and greeting, in the name of “I met my friend long time ago, so we can just stop hagging so suddenly”, you will endanger the life of the president.
And in this case, just like HH you will have chosen to willfully endanger the life of the president and national security.
If they don’t clear you as mandated (as the normal case should), they will pick you up and charge you with treason.

Those of you questioning Lungu’s christianity just advise HH that the Bible says obey those in Authority, you will be helping solve this problem.
But if you will ignore when HH disobeys authority but when police enforce law and order then you complain, you will be helping amplify the problem.
Romans 13:1-2 says:
“All if you must obey those who rule over you. There are no authorities except the ones God has chosen. Those who now rule have been chosen by God. So those who opposes the authorities opposes leaders whom God has appointed. Those who do that will be judged.”
Romans 13:4 says:
“The authorities are God’s servants for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of rath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.”
So, God expects everyone to honour those in authority, and those in authority to punish wrongdoers.
So, show such scriptures to HH if he claims he is a Christian.
