Sunzu: Green Eagles merit top spot

Share

Green Eagles defender Boniface Sunzu believes his side has worked hard to be at the top of the FAZ Super Division after two rounds of matches played.

Unbeaten Eagles top the table with six points after beating champions Zanaco and promoted City of Lusaka in their first two matches.

Sunzu said Eagles deserve to be at the top owing to their impressive start to the season.

“It is not surprising that we are topping the league after two matches,” Sunzu said.

“We have beaten champions Zanaco. If we can beat Zanaco it shows that we are performing well and we can beat other teams,” he said.

Coach Manfred Chabinga’s Eagles started the season with a 1-0 win at City of Lusaka prior to edging favourites Zanaco 2-1 at home last weekend.

“It has not been easy for us to get six points from two matches. This shows that we are working hard,” Sunzu said.

Eagles are now preparing to face unbeaten Lumwana Radiants away in the North Western Province on Saturday.

“I know Lumwana is a stubborn team but we can beat them,” Sunzu concluded.
