President Edgar Lungu says government has intentions of dividing Chilubi Constituency in Northern Province into two constituencies.

The President notes that Chilubi constituency which covers the island and mainland is too vast.

He says government will take the proposal to parliament so that the constituency is divided into two.

The President says government will work with the Electoral Commission of Zambia and other stakeholders to ensure the constituency is divided.

He made the remarks during a public meeting held at Mpopu area in Chilubi District.

And the President expressed concern over the non utilization of a grader and a dredger.

He said he has not been informed about the status of the equipment which has been lying idle since September last year.

The president has since urged the Area Member of Parliament Rosaria Fundanga to be proactive and ensure the people’s concerns in the area are addressed.

He also tasked the Northern Provincial authorities to push for the commencement of works on the Luwingu – Chilubi road.

He said works should start because the contract has already been signed.

And Mrs. Fundanga assured the people that government will address their concerns.

  1. His minister of Finance, MMD accountant Mutati has budget deficits and running all over the place begging for external assistance meanwhile this utterly Lazy Tin Edgar is doing the complete opposite by increasing expenditure.

    • Divide & rule by visionless Lungu with his PF bandits. This is another way of embezzling public funds by kaminamisa Vasco da Gama visionless Lungu.
Creating districts & constituencies in pretence of development is really a sham. Sata did the same but to date, PF creates districts since 2011 have no infrastructure, not even a pencil, paper or pen. Blind Lungu is playing gimmicks by dividing & ruling out of fraudulent activities.
Let the petition be heard blind Lungu.

    • Apart from the additional cost, this is part of Lungu’s plan to have an unassailable majority in Parliament. Why? Look towards some serious Constitutional changes very soon. That’s why he needs the numbers in Parliament. I would not put it past Lungu to want to change Presidential term limits from 2 to unlimited or 2 x 7 year terms. He will make sure that he qualifies for the extended terms. That’s whatLungu is a power maniac.

    • First of all, this move will bring about efficacy in executing government developmental programs and reduce wastage of resources.
Secondly, this is PF stronghold so the move is welcome.

    • All those seeing this as wastage of resources are UPND cadres who are short sighted.

If you look at it from an eagle’s eye like the president is – better to spend a million kwacha on dividing once and for all rather than keeping losing millions every year through wastage due to poor management for a 1000 yrs to come

  4. I did not know that this little KK safari suit man wears a jacket? what does he hide in his safari suit?was it cold for him at Chilubi?always dividing with no progress

  5. This selective splitting of constituencies in Zambia is the same reason why we have an imbalance in numbers in parliament between the ruling and opposition MPs. It is also the same reason why we have a skew in power towards Luapula, Northern and Eastern. Busy creating constituencies in Luapula, Northern and Eastern, what about the other provinces?

  6. I hear Edgar Lungu is the first serving Head of state to spend a night in chilubi island! What a humble leader we have.We love you Edgar Lungu.
