Mr Bwalya said the UPND should not even blame the purported tension on the PF, because it was that party’s leadership that did not want peace going by the way they kept disrespecting President Edgar Lungu.
He said the UPND should stop making statements aimed at shifting the blame over the arrest and subsequent court hearing involving the opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema.
Mr Bwalya said the PF was not the Judiciary or the police to arrest or try any person.
“Not even the President makes decisions for the courts. I urge UPND party members to stop accusing the PF party of being behind the arrest of their president,” he said.
Mr Bwalya said this during the ‘Let the people talk’ programme on Radio Phoenix yesterday.
He said it was unfortunate that the UPND kept on making statements that gave the impression to the international community that the country was under political tension.
Mr Bwalya said if the UPND members genuinely felt that there was tension in Zambia, they should discuss it among themselves and find the real cause of the tension.
He said that UPND members should humble themselves, dialogue and accept that President Lungu was the Head of State until the next elections when Zambians would have another opportunity to elect a leader.

Whether tension or not, there seems to be a lack of leadership and calm in Zambia at the moment. Surely what happened on the road in Mongu cannot lead to treason, unless we live in an autocracy. The longer it takes to pass a verdict on HH, the more the outside world will look at Zambia as a dictatorship, even if the ruling party claims it is not.
