Oasis Forum statement on state of democracy ,rule of Law in Zambia and need for national unity

Share

Chawama violence

A few weeks ago, the Zambian National Under-20 football- team took to the international stage to showcase Zambian football talent. Whilst watching them we Zambians knew no tribe, we knew no political affiliation. We rallied behind the team because they were Zambian and they represented the best of what we are as a nation. We were united in victory and in defeat; proud of what we had achieved, proud of our flag. Similarly, fifty-three years ago the people of Northern Rhodesia – people of every race, tribe, gender and creed, formed a union under one flag. One Zambia, One Nation. We shared a common dream for peace, unity and prosperity for all our people. Now that we are back to the ordinary business of our every-day lives, once again the divisions along tribal and political lines are becoming evident. We have reached a point in our history where our flag no longer represents a symbol of our common purpose and identity. The ugliness of hatred and division threatens to lower our flag to half• mast.

With the re-introduction of multi-party democracy in Zambia in 1991 under a new constitution, Zambia became a beacon of hope for the African continent. This reputation was cemented by successive peaceful elections and smooth transfers of power. The Oasis Forum recalls how the people of Zambia were able to use their voices to stop President Chiluba from committing an assault on the constitutional order of this country to give himself a third term in office. We were once a democracy. Today our democracy is slipping away while many of us watch along the side-lines feeling helpless, voiceless and afraid. The institutions of government mandated to serve us: the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary are lamentably failing to meet the expectations of the people. Our “democratic” institutions are falling far short of upholding the tenets of democracy and the rule of law. A vicious rivalry between the warring political parties of the ruling Patriotic Front and the opposition United Party for National Development has become the order of the day and it is we, the people of Zambia, who are suffering. Our youth have no jobs, our health facilities are poorly staffed and poorly stocked, our children’s standard of education is falling, our freedoms are being abused and infringed upon, and our peace, once a source of great pride is now under threat. We now live under a cloud of fear that prevents us from expressing who we really are.
The Bemba people have a saying,

lmbwa ya mukali tayi chenjela

Loosely translated it means that a child raised to be fearful of his parents will not prosper. We are indeed a very poor nation in every respect. Gone is our national pride. We have come to a point in time where we have to choose prosperity over poverty; peace and unity over destruction and despair. That choice is the power that lies in the hands of every Zambian citizen, regardless of race, tribe, creed, gender or political affiliation, to say that enough is enough. If we do not participate in the governance of our country, we will only have ourselves to blame if we lose all that we hold dear. Silence is consent.

We must speak out to reclaim our nation and once again raise our flag as a symbol of our national pride.

Zambia is bigger than any individual in the nation. We call upon all our leaders across party lines to say that we want peace, we want stability, we want unity, we want to be Zambian again. Political leadership should not only be about amassing votes; it should be about serving the people. As stated in the biblical parable of the faithful servant: to whom much is given, much is expected. Our leaders in the government and in the opposition hold the fate of the nation in their hands and we the people of Zambia expect them to use their power wisely, above selfish interest, in the best interests of every Zambian citizen.e, the Oasis Forum, are calling on all Zambians from all walks of life irrespective of tribe, religion, race, gender or political affiliation to stand up for a Zambia that we can be proud of. United as ‘One Zambia, One Nation’. We are calling on Zambians to participate in the Oasis Forum’s lawful peace-building initiatives that will be rolled out over the next few weeks to reaffirm that our voice matters and that we are indeed stronger in unity, stronger as one. God bless Zambia!

  1. FOR GOODNESS SAKE JUST SHUT UP !!!
This is just useless mouthing without any Solutions for the love of the nation as it is supposed to be..

Enough of these *****ic comments and Statements !!!
Zambia is our great Country and it must move on despite all our shot comings!!!!

    • Take heed of the warnings. As things stand, we are back to a one party state and laws can even be passed to ban UPND MPs back in the house. You are busy celebrating HH’s persecution whilst there is no one to offer checks and balances to PF’s runnning of government affairs. The freedoms that our forefathers fought for should not be taken for granted. All those prisons in Zambia are not fit for even rats to live in! Don’t call them correction centres but mind bending dungeons!

    • @ StatusQuo

That is correct. The freedoms that our forefathers fought for should not be taken for granted.

    • The majority of the commentators/bloggers are biased/prejudiced against UPND or Tongas. Such a position reflects the lack of independent analysis of reality. In addition, the analysis thereof flaunts the level of sub-standard education which the majority of PF rank and file membership attained. Furthermore, it would be amiss on my part if I failed to add at this stage that the majority of commentators on this site simply reflect the perfect and protected denial of the PF regime to uniformly develop the entirety of Zambia. Why should a government shift the blame for its failures to the door step of the opposition(UPND). This is a flawed reaction of the PF government and its half educated supporters, including those who are scattered around the globe.

    • Your emotional outbursts and tantrums indicate the level of education which lacks informed and mature evaluations. Emotional outbursts are synonymous with all PF structures including the lead villain (Lungu). A leader cannot be emotional including an autocratic or authoritative leader. A leader has an impeccable skill called ‘listening.’ When a person who claims to be a leader does not want to listen, such a conduct validates that he is not what he/she claims to be. Verbal information can be validated by observed conducts. Lungu and his fellow gang of villains must understand the relevance of ethnography and how it can be applied in everyday interactions or interplays. Failure to understand the pertinacity of education and how to apply it uniformly to all tribes in Zambia, is to…

    • A more poignant bemba proverb for the interesting times we find ourselves in is
      Wanya wanya tateka ichalo!
Sometimes l wonder who is pushing the agenda for this country all of a sudden the crooked kaponyas at markets and bus stations seem to have a direct link to the ruling eight this is scary.

    • LenJoy, the stance taken by upnd not to accept 2016 results is in itself a danger to democracy. Whether you are learned or not the standoff will go on for many months to come and it will end up in street fighting and eventually tribal wars, especially in the compounds and rural areas. It’s a well known fact that most supporters of upnd are Tongas and these have proved to be very cantankerous people who think HH has a birthright to rule Zambia now or never. My advice, just like for many level headed Zambians is for upnd to let go of this impasse and plan for 2021. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

    • These are only UPND cadres. They should recuse themselves and let those that apolitical drive this initiative. Otherwise the PF cadres wont buy it!!!!

    • Same O, same O, undemocratically self-appointed representatives of Zambians. Who gave you the permission to represent me? I am not a lawyer, so Kasonde does not speak for me. I am not a church member or Roaming Catholic, so, Matale and Cleophas don’t speak for me and I do not drink with Roy Clarke and not female, so Longwe does not speak for me. Where is the Marketeers Association, Farmers Union, chamber of commerce, Trade Unions etc?
Linda, Matale, Longwe and Lungu, if you want to change Zambia, join politics. Stop eating Nordic, Swedish and Finnish money, pretending to speak for us. We are not suffering. We have just produced more maize, more copper, more schools, more hospitals ever in the history of Zambia. Suffer alone.

    • Perfectly put, Uncle Charles!!!
“The Oasis Forum recalls how the people of Zambia were able to use their voices to stop President Chiluba from committing an assault on the constitutional order of this country to give himself a third term in office…” THIS IS WHAT THIS LOOSELY PUT TOGETHER GROUP OF OPPORTUNISTS WAS THERE FOR AND IT BECAME IRRELEVANT AFTER THIS “MISSION”. THIS EXTINCT DINOSOUR IS TRYING TO MAKE ITSELF RELEVANT ONCE MORE SO THAT IT CAN MANIPULATE THE STATE AGAIN TO ITS SELFISH INTERESTS BUT CHAGWA HAS CONFINED IT TO WHERE IT BELONGS: IN THE MUSEUM, NOT AT STATE HOUSE!!!!!!

    • @ StatusQuo, those i.diots were walking out of parliament when the President addresses them. . So how do they provide your so called checks and balances and to who since they don’t recognize government. As far as upnd is concerned their is no government (If you don’t recognize the heard then your don’t recognize the body) So stop exposing s.tupi.dity here. Even these silly women with an impotent father should look at both sides. Democracy does not mean insulting. democracy does not mean beliitling the president. democracy does not mean call judges names. democracy does not mean committing aggravated crimes. Democracy does not mean winning even losing always is democracy

    • @Mweepo, you will die of ignorance. Get out of the country a little bit more to understand the tenets of democracy. Poverty anywhere is a hindrance to prosperity everywhere. The people you marginalise are the people who willl save Zambia when Lungu is done mutilating democracy. How do sleep at night knowing you have locked up an innocent man? You will feel the full wrath of God soon!

    • The mistake many UPND leaning commentators make is think that responsibility of maintaining democracy is just on ruling party. We have enjoyed peace in this country for long time because we have rules which are enforced whether it’s in relation to executive, judiciary or legislature. The opposition is not immune from complying with such rules in name of democracy. The people will also rise against a ruling party that seeks to abuse rules. As things stand now people will not rise against GRZ because they have seen that we have reckless main opposition that think that they are immune from all laws of a civilised society & everything must come to a standstill unless they are given privileges that common people don’t enjoy. I’m sorry Ms Kasonde & Oasis Forum you are the ones trying to…

    • I’m sorry Ms Kasonde & Oasis Forum you are the ones trying to destroy what we’ve always enjoyed. There’s nothing that has changed in this country as you’re trying to portray except that state authorities are calling everyone including apamwambas to account if they breach the law just like they’ve done to us the common people. You’ve a wrong mindset to think that elite opposition should misbehave & we should all watch because it’s democracy. God will never let you. God Bless Zambia

    • Linda is now speaking from oasis forum?

Linda is desiring so much to be influential.

      Why is democracy failing?

Is it not because some people want to be a law in themselves?

Is it not that some people want to be a government in themselves?

They neither recognise authority nor the rule of law.

The British High Commissioner advised that respect for the head of state and adherence to the rule of law are key elements in international relations and democracy.

Some people want to break the law with impunity while wishing that the international community supports.

Well let Linda and the oasis forum support them, I don’t think that they will have support of the international community. They don’t support illegality.

  2. your obvious subjectivity – inlcuding in your own articles- against Dr Chiluba is far from exemplary. same people. same interests.

  3. Thanks Oasis Forum. We just hope the pf m.o.r.o.n.s have heard.we want peace in our country Zambia; not bloodshed.

  4. Agreed! The damage Lungu and the PF are doing to this country will be almost irreversible if not curtailed sooner than later. If the vitriol being observed online on this blog is anything to go by, then the country will soon be divided into half and the country you call Zambia will be no more. Let’s not forget that Lungu and his minions today look very powerful but remember that more powerful dictators elsewhere have been toppled before, legally or by force.

People who are enlightened, who are supposedly educated should stop their petty tribal bias and condemn this Lungu dictatorship. All Lungu needs to do is stop being so insecure and allow divergent views to thrive in a democracy without fear. He should allow independent media and let the opposition participate freely in the affairs…

    • continued…
…He should allow independent media and let the opposition participate freely in the affairs of their country. He could stop by the persecution of HH; stop harassing his MPs; being back The Post his closed and allow the court process of the disputed elections to be concluded. He needs to let the police, the judiciary, etc execute their constitutional mandate without interference. All this needs to happen now, like right now.

    • AKa Maverick, you are biased. I used to like the post for a very long time. Independent media does not mean insulting the president every time. It does not mean HH insulting the judiciary and parliament every time he has an issue with them. If he insults what about his carders. Countrymen let us respect these institutions we have created for ourselves. The post closed itself, by not paying tax full-stop. Do not compare ZNBC with post newspaper ZNBC is a government organization just like BBC SABC and much more. Do you know that even SABC owes the SAARS which is an organization to collect tax in South Africa.
Edgar Lungu did what many Zambian like me wanted the post to pay tax or face the closer. There are many companies in Zambia that have closed for failure to pay tax, but Zambians do…

  5. Yes give us the details. This should be driven by people who have no hidden agenda, no political affiliation (hidden or otherwise) and above all people who will to call a spade a spade and not a big spoon. It is bad that we have shot ourselves in foot in the recent months, but we should NOT shoot ourselves in both feet by having UPND or PF part II coming in through the Church, NGOs or some politically inclined traditional rulers. The Chewas say Oletselela ndeo savula malaya (loosely translated “the one who is stopping a fight does not take of his shirt”). We want someone who is neutral.

    • True. We already know their political standing better a neutral person starts talking about that.

    • Unless people were too young to recall what Oasis Forum was able to do, allow this team of wide representation and knowledge in law, spearhead a series of activities that will try to help the leadership realise the direction the country is taking is defective.

  6. PF has driven Zambia’s democracy backwards. All the gains we made, which made us proud have been deleted by PF and replaced with deceit, manipulation and dictatorship! We are now like Zimbabwe! What a shame!

  7. There is a season for everything. A season to vote, a season to protest and a season to be arrested. And there is season for the tables to turn.

  8. It is an excellent analysis of the current happenings. The reality is that Zambia has been captured by a gang of local villains under the unstable and ineffective leadership of the lead villain called Lungu. Until Lungu and his fellow villains cease to enjoy the misplaced support of indigent Zambians, Zambia will increasingly continue to deteriorate to compounded poor socio-economic conditions. PF has no workable policies in place for development other than begging from any willing donor around the globe. The language of PF VILLAINS reflects features of tribalism and it is on record. The PF hierarchy cannot deny that they are exploiting the tribalism agenda at the expense of the UPND and Tongas including brother HH. The lead villain himself (Lungu) is a firm believer in tribalism

    • If someone cited that UPND should be headed by a Tonga, that particular utterance is a metaphor and it was said within a certain context and meant to deliver a measured message. Such an utterance is a derivative of ordinary UPND semantics and nothing beyond that. However, you PF people who worship tribalism twisted it and exploited the situation at the expense of the UPND and Tongas. PF disciples quoted the speaker of the above-said utterance out of context. PF villains did not ask the UPND to clarify the intended message which was meant for recipients. Hence, you (PF villains) are still laughing and falling over yourselves including the godfather of PF villains (Lungu). There is absolutely nothing wrong with such utterances. PF disciples are jealous that UPND is still very strong and…

    • Lenjoe both Lungu and HH are Zambians who need to be respected. They are both leaders who are emotionally charged. I hope when you say leaders should not be emotional you also include HH. Both Lungu and HH emotional outbursts scare peace loving Zambia. unfortunately the likes of you see everything through tribal lenses and name calling. Stop it.

    • @Len Joe: your comments sound like that of a prejudiced, western educated elitist who thinks developing Zambia can only happen if your kind were given power on a sliver platter and you would tame and civilise the “local kombonic savages”. I mean look at your comments:
      1. “In addition, the analysis thereof flaunts the level of sub-standard education which the majority of PF rank and file membership attained”
2.”This is a flawed reaction of the PF government and its half educated supporters, including those who are scattered around the globe”
      3. “Your emotional outbursts and tantrums indicate the level of education which lacks informed and mature evaluations. Emotional outbursts are synonymous with all PF structures including the lead villain (Lungu)”
      4. “The reality is that…

    • …Zambia has been captured by a gang of local villains under the unstable and ineffective leadership of the lead villain called Lungu” NB KEY WORD: LOCAL!!!
You see, Len, Zambia is populated by “local” people who outnumber your kind badly. It is these local people who make up the majority and own this country we live in; not you aloof, self-righteous types who make the minority. Even the so called cadres are now part of our political DNA and it would be folly to exclude them from our national agenda because all the time it is they who give the “kombonic savages” their voice. Your upnd has continuously failed to garner parliamentary seats in Lusaka and C/Belt because your arrogance does not inspire voters from these compounds. This continual rejection has led to your frustrations…

    • …and bitterness. Michael Sata, the political genius, used this method to full effect which landed him in state house. hh, the political failure, has used the elitist and tribalistic method that has landed him in PRISON!!! God bless our great nation, Zambia!!!!!

    • Zambian citizen…..

If the majority of Zambians are savages, Zambia is doomed.

No hope there. It’s dog eats dog.

And if you you deteaste western elitist so much , why don’t you go back to wearing skins and loin cloths ??

    • $$Zambian Citizen
Thanks for filling in knowledge gaps in your responses. In returning to your unbalanced narrative, I reject your affirmation in which you denied that the PF ‘government’ is not equivalent to a cartel of organised criminals. The lead villain (Lungu) fraudulently won the so-called elections by a very tiny margin. The miniature variation between the UPND votes and those of the corruptible villain-oriented PF, symbolises an avoidable reality. The miniature difference correlates to the fact that UPND is not a regional party but a broad based party. Going about your own explicit admission that Tongas are the minority and the “local kombonic savages” are the majority, the implicit implication of your affirmation is that you are validating that the UPND is a formidable party…

    • Going about your own explicit admission that Tongas are the minority and the “local kombonic savages” are the majority, the implicit implication of your affirmation is that you are validating that the UPND is a formidable party which enjoys the support of all tribes including the “local kombonic savages”. My analysis correlates with available statistics. Moreover, my analysis are also supported by your hidden admissions which contradict your own denials. By the way, I did not know that Zambia is currently owned by the “local kombonic savages.” Where do you think the likes of my brother HH and Tongas should go? Such utterances emanate from the cartel of organised criminals who are abusing HH and UPND.

    • $$Zambian Citizen: The said verifies my assertions that Lungu is a lead villain in charge of a devilish cartel of organised criminals. Everything about Lungu except his structure, is criminal. Mark my words, Lungu and his fellow villains will be thoroughly investigated by highly educated lead investigators. My statements are neutral and firm. We have all the time and we do not forget. This is not a threat but it is an unshakable fact which will be implemented and followed to the letter. Viva HH, Viva UPND. We shall painstakingly pursue justice until all current members of the villain-based PF cartel of organised criminal gang are prosecuted at the time of our own choosing. Consequences will be extremely unbearable. Viva HH, viva UPND. Alluta continua.

    • hhmmm…first and foremost, your failed accusations of electoral fraud evaporated with your hh’s failure to adequately and conclusively petition the 2016 elections as he and his money hungry lawyers flopped dramatically to present evidence to court. Sadly, hh again failed to penetrate the urban areas of Lusaka and C/Belt as his bantustan vote of Southern/Western/N-Westen (which had an average voter turnout of 63% against a vote of 84% compared to the winner’s average of 51% against a vote of 71%) voted abnormally hence his tally coming close to the winner’s-hh is no national force as he remains confined to his tribal bantustans!!!!
“Local kombonic savages” is a figure of speech which I expected you, an educated elite, to decipher because you calling the PF and the majority who put…

    • …ECL in state house as uneducated, it is a narrative like how the “superior & educated” colonialists viewed the native African population; You totally disappoint me there! Further, your empty threats that the vile persecution of individuals as what happened when your kind captured the state during Mwanawasa’s presidency will return is what will distance you from state house further. Zambians at large are aware of you clandestine motives and will take generations to change their mindset and have them vote for you; This is more evident with the collapse of the self proclaimed kingmaker and media master Fred M’membe’s Post Newspaper; While the collective will point to government interference, reality shows a master manipulator who was abandoned by his audience, his readers (the locals…

    • …who gave him K10 every morning in their multitudes) and this led to his financial ruin. The more you issue your threats, the more you alienate your would be voters who will find solace in the PF and ensure they dominate the political scene for years to come.

    • This is the same strategy your kind used to capture the state and used FTJ as a sacrificial lamb to manipulate the population to your selfish needs. Sadly, the upnd has no concrete strategy that will ensure they get to state house as, after its fifth attempt at the presidency, it has failed to garner a national vote and has remained confined in its bantustans. The latest strategy of demonisng a democratically elected head of state by trying to label him a “dictator” is sadly failing as there have been no protests in other parts of the country except hh’s Southern province and only your international minority opposition partners have been the loudest. Zambians at large know that PF is an inclusive government that is ready to work with anyone from all walks of life, and they will not…

    • $$Zambian Citizen: You have not said anything new in your usual PF designed denials. The more you tirelessly attempt to defend your senior PF villains, the more you tell the world that you have nothing to say in your defense. I postulate that you must study law at a postgraduate level at either Yale or Cambridge Universities, because the power of knowledge can and shall unstintingly assist you with a broadened view of reality. By the way, please note that the more you attempt to explain the position of the lead villain (Lungu), the more you open up numerous cracks where I can sink my sharpened teeth as a smart senior consul in intricate criminal matters. My advice for you is that you must keep quiet and let the senior educated fellows do the thinking. Your responses do indicate to me your…

    • $$$Zambian citizen:By the way, please note that the more you attempt to explain the position of the lead villain (Lungu), the more you open up numerous cracks where I can sink my sharpened teeth as a smart senior consul in intricate criminal matters. My advice for you is that you must keep quiet and let the senior educated fellows do the thinking. Your responses do indicate to me your calendar age and your criminality. Viva HH, viva UPND.

    • Keep your western acquired education and your “smart counsel”. Your baseless threats mean nothing. Come 2021, we the majority will troop to the polling stations again and vote in numbers for Zambia’s very own, Edgar Chagwa Lungu…IT’S DUNUNA AGAIN!!! We will confine upnd to opposition once more!!!! it’s PF nafuti, nafuti!!!!!!

  9. @1.3 len joe, but who said that UPND can only be led by tooongas? UPND itself, and when the people resent tooongas for that you blame whom?

    • Aah! You resent them, that’s your baby to wrap on your back, that your chikatundu to carry, till you die from kunyu, while they progress.

  10. Linda Kasonde of the infamous LAZ advocating unity? So the evil repulsive loathesome Cartel is now a member of Oasis? Well, sorry we cannot be hoodwinked. Sorry Linda, try something else or start by apologising for what you have done.

    • The Cartel is just a propaganda by the team ruling now. It is the same group that formed “a cartel” behind President Sata, and operated behind him. They told him lies so he could fire those not part of the collusion. They took advantage of his then failing health. Eg, as Sata was dealing with the Chitimukulu saga, ECL, the then Minister of Home Affairs, went behind doors to discuss matters with BashiLubemba.
They continued leaking state info to social media, secretly controlled by them, to the annoyance of Sata, do you recall? They couldn’t close the Watchdog which the richly fed with info.
Currently, every pro govt newspaper has similar news to the online news. There’s a convergence, bcoz they are the same! They were hidding during Sata’s reign but not any more. Don’t be…

  11. The problem lies with those holding power. Can you tell me if ECL abrogates the constitution , he can be cited for treason? Our President can do anything and OASIS FORUM will simply write articles . Nothing more. Oasis Forum dare say a word that seem to rub the President”s nerve, he can sent HIS TEAM to visit you. Remember LAZ fracas including Fube Bwalya, PF demos.
Bane , just repent … Zambians must repent as they were deceived that they must vote for a Humble man not a alleged S.A. Tanist or tribalist.
Today , you are complaining…. We are reaping what we sow….
More to come…. Actually some one has been fired at ZDA for not employing Josephine Mapomas son…….
Wait…. the tolls are still ringing…. Yesterday was Mutembo, Fred Meembe, and others but nobody said…

  12. Wait…. the tolls are still ringing…. Yesterday was Mutembo, Fred Meembe, and others but nobody said anything… PF said they are a cartel.
Now is HH and UPND MPs who are villain…..
Tommorrow , PF will be fighting among themselves but the Great Leader will say The Colonialist are regrouping…. The democracy gone to the wind…. The GREAT LEADER , RB , KK and their families , cohorts will be enjoying ……
Mushota in UK will claim that British Democracy is worse than Zambia but she will be claiming of a PHD or phd …..

  13. Does democracy mean we should disrespect people we don’t agree with. If HH did not agree to the out come of the elections, being an educated man, is it difficulty for him to understand that he has to respect the person who has been declared winner instead of using every opportunity to demean the republican president. The Oasis forum has lost respect because its not true that HH has never done any wrong for them to only be condemning ECL. Is insulting a president democracy? Just like ECL does not drop food at any Zambian house even HH when he becomes president he will not do that. The failure by groups and individuals like Oasis to advise HH correctly has majorly contributed to HH’s situation today. Does it mean in all this HH has never erred in anything at all? Its only ECL and PF at…

    • One of the problems we have in Zambia is the definition of the word “Insult”. To some people it is a direct translation from a vernacular word which unfortunately doesn’t really mean the same in all vernacular languages in Zambia. Some people will say you have insulted the great leader by simply disagreeing with him (and therefore you deserve to be punished). I just wish Zambians could be more open minded, more tolerant and less emotional in their discourses, especially the way they relate to those in opposition to them. Why are you angry?

  14. Linda , PF will pounce on you…… Be careful or hire me as your security guard….. The PF guys are bad news…… I am scared….. Watch their comments especially Mushota with her PHD

    • Why pounce on her?? The PF (in majority in parliament, after the upndonkeys 1diotically “recused” themselves in parliament) will simply remove her tuma powers by rearranging LAZ…it’s a democracy, remember????

  15. All,
“stand up for a Zambia that we can be proud of. United as ‘One Zambia, One Nation’. ”
Take a step back and reflect on your biased support of your political affiliation

Think Zambia, don’t think PF/UPND !!!!!!!! Give Kasonde and Oasis Forum, the support they need. Let’s get back our Zambia

  16. Atleast thats a Start Funny women are standing up for the nation where are all the soul called men.We need to fight to save Zambia all of us where is Bishop Mususu,Bishop John Mambo in this we need to hear there voices too.

    • Men are busy giving conflicting statements as they represent NGO,s. They are NGO,s but you hear them speaking on behalf of Govt, eg to say govt thru Correction Services, is right to transfer HH to Mukobeko and that there is no sinister motives! How do you know the motive of govt when you a an NGO?
Ba Spooky Mulemwa’s statements, Ba Ntewewe, Ba Sudzyo Zimba, telling HH that he is not material for President, Ba Fodep, Ba Pukuta Mwanza, saying its good that UPND has realised the need to recognise ECL by attending prayers, Ba Yali, Ba Ngoma.
We are better off with the truth. Be it in women or other men!

  17. Suppose HH decided to keep quiet and work systematically to gain citizens confidence, he will definitely do better next time. Democracy must be demanded from everyone not only ECL. Oasis forum must encourage intra party democracy and respect for the sitting president. The greatest mistake most people are making is to think that there is a revolution in Zambia, far from it. Zambians are used to have a party in power for many years. This is the mentality we should work to change and replace it with the mentality that giving political parties atmost two terms will help develop the country faster. These are the works Oasis forum should be doing, educating citizens on the benefits of change not politicking. As it is many feel ECL is being victimized and are getting to is side.

  18. ukuteka imbwa mano! Wanya wanya tateka calo! ubufumu bucindika umwine! umutaba weshilu bakombola ilyo lipenene. akakunyelele takalabwa!

  19. What is lacking in this country is integrity. It is in serious short supply. This is the reason we have so much lawlessnes. Lawlessness in the opposition and more lawlessness in the ruling party.

Lets call a spade what it is. Firstly, the petition should have been heard. It is not water under the bridge but water in a pond and the arrest of double H has muddied the pond.

Secondly, the Speaker was not wrong in suspending the 48 MPs. The MPs should not complain but take the suspension stoically. They protested by walking out on ECL.They wanted to send a message to the ruling party. They achieved their objective. Everyone got the message, including ECL. But there are consequences to everything we do. Hence the suspension.

The 48 MPs should stop acting like victims. No one should do…

    • Boycotting to listen to a speech by the president is better than tearing it in disrespect. However the consequence ofcorse is there but not the maximum ever punishment!
The speaker should also have taken into account the virility of the current environment when mating out punishment!

Imagine you are a Landlord to this family that has failed to pay rentals for 3 months and you have before issued an eviction warning should they not pay the following month, what would you do if, come the following month, you go to collect the rentals only to find the parent in hospital! The kids tell you they do not have cash to pay and the father is in hospital, do you go ahead and mate out the harshest punishment just because you warned them before? You look at prevailing circumstances.
      The speaker…

  20. The statement by Oasis Forum indicates that they are finally sobering up in the realisation that one cannot win a stu.pi.d “battle”. Why didnt they do this from the beginning and save U5 the anguish that his UPNDonkeys are making him undergo?

  21. We really need this as a nation. Few selfish individuals should not divide this great nation. We need to do something about it.

  22. The divisions we have are not solely about tribe. They are more about selfish politicians, friends and their relatives wanting to use state power and resources to benefit themselves. They appeal to tribe of ethnicity to mobilise against other ethnic groups in the hope of getting into power to benefit themselves, their friends and their relatives. One only has to look at how much they are able to do for their regions of origin to see the divisions are less about tribe and more about promoting their personal interests. It is always not accurate to always view what divisions are experienced on the African continent through the prism of tribe or ethnicity.

  23. Ba UPND I said it before if you are popular come out in the open and Zambians will support you not just hiding behind social media. If indeed you did win the elections come out but you know you only won in three provinces whilst PF took 7 . There will be no uprising because PF is too popular and will rule until the next elections. You want to come out like you are very intelligent but how come PF is always one step ahead of you. You mean you didn’t know that if you do a second walkout your mps will be suspended??? Very dull no wonder you keep losing.

  24. So the PF was supposed to abrogate the constitution which they promised to defend and let the Petition go beyond 14 days for a party who only won in 3 Provinces and lost in urban Lusaka and Copperbelt where the most educated of our citizens live?? Dream on ! Hatred will take you nowhere

  25. You speak against tribalism yet you quote a Bemba adage.
    Why?
Just shows how tribal (Bemba) Oasis Forum is.
    Is Zambia all about Bembas?

    • Can we have sanity in Zambia? Who says what the Oasis forum says is a perfect situation in the country. Can the state pass laws that allows NGOs get approval for funding their activities. This will be the best way to scrutinize their agenda. PF is too slow to notice this. All those crooks, Suzane Matale, Sarah Longwe, Linda Kasonde and Chipenzi are UPND sympathizers and are faces of imperialist. Democracy does not mean disrespect for the rule of law. PF act quickly and act now. Make them poor scrutinize their funds, they will come begging. All I want for my country is peace.

  26. Ka linda Kasonde kalefwayafye political mileage. She is still young and has a lot of energy to start making children than continue brushing shoulders with spent forces like bana longwe.

  27. Doing away with tribalism starts with doing away with these Bemba ‘sayings’ in almost every article by LT and elsewhere. Other tribes also have theirs, which are probably better, but are looked down upon!.

In KK’s time neutrality was what carried the day. One actually thought KK could not speak Bemba. That’s how cautious the man was when it came to ‘One Zambia One Nation’, lest he be misunderstood as promoting one tribe over another!

Then came the short man; all caution was thrown to the wind. This was compounded by late MCS who saw it fit to mock and insult one section of his countrymen and women in Barotseland!

The current PF administration is on a runaway, spiteful of anyone who is not from the north eastern part of the country.

Therefore, need there be any doubt…

    • @Lihuluhulu leli bolile

You seem to be proud using the coloniser’s language but are not proud to be using proverbs in the local language.

  28. I now believe that upnd supporters are good at washing their hands. Imagine if Armageddon and not accepting 2016 were not prophesized by one and only most loved leader who has changed the Zambian politics outlook since he stepped in the arena.
I’m tempted to talk about the mapatiziya formula but no I will leave it since arch angel HH is so clean, with a pure heart and harbours no bitterness. In accordance with Linda and Co. Lungu is the one that has introduced tribalism…… All right thinking Zambians know the truth. Even when Sata felt that his victory was stolen he encouraged his supporters to swallow the bitter pill for the sake of mother Zambia.

  29. THE SOURCE OF ALL THESE PROBLEMS IS THAT TONGAS WANT TO RULE ZAMBIA USING UPND. UNFORTUNATELY FOR THEM THEY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH NUMBERS TO TAKE THEM TO STATE HOUSE. BUT MUCH WORSE IS THE FACT THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO IT. THEY ARE DOING IT BY DISCREDITING OTHER TRIBES, INSULTING THE PRESIDENT ETC. THEY ARE FORGETTING THAT THE OTHER VOTERS BELONG TO OTHER TRIBES WHICH THEY ARE INSULTING. THEY ARE SCARING AWAY OTHER TRIBES. THEY LACK DIPLOMACY. FOR AS LONG AS IT IS NOT A TONGA PRESIDENT, UPND WILL ALWAYS CLAIM THAT ELECTIONS WERE RIGGED.UPND WILL NEVER ENTER STATE HOUSE FOR AS LONG AS IT CONFINES ITSELF TO THE 3.5 PROVINCES. THERE IS NEED FOR UPND TO ACCEPT THAT THEY ARE NOT POPULAR AND START BUILDING UP FROM THERE.

  30. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH WANTING YOUR TRIBE TO TAKE THE SEAT OF PRESIDENCY. BUT YOUR CANDIDATE MUST BE SUBJECTED TO ELECTORAL COMPETITION TO SEE IF OTHER VOTERS FROM OTHER TRIBES WILL LIKE HIM OR DISLIKE HIM IN PREFERENCE FOR ANOTHER CANDIDATE. WHEN HE IS REJECTED, BE MAN ENOUGH AND ACCEPT THE PEOPLES CHOICE. DO NOT BE A BAD LOSER WHO INSULTS THE JUDGES, ECZ OFFICIALS, VOTERS, CHIEF JUSTICE, SPEAKER AND ELECTED PRESIDENT. UNFOUNDED CLAIMS THAT A MAN VOTED 5 TIMES, OR A NON COHERENT STORY OF CHIVULA ENTERING THE ITC ROOM AT ECZ, OR THAT MAUREEN FOUND 14,000 BALLOTS THROWN IN A BIN, THAT THERE WAS A NON EXISTENT CHITULIKA POLLING STATION SHOULD NOT BE ENTERTAINED. WE ALL KNOW HOW TRANSPARENT THE VOTING WAS. AND YOU PEOPLE HAD SATELLITE PHONES SO YOU COULD TRANSMIT YOUR OWN VOTES DIRECTLY…

  31. Linda is now speaking from oasis forum?

Linda is desiring so much to be influential.

    Why is democracy failing?

Is it not because some people want to be a law in themselves?

Is it not that some people want to be a government in themselves?

They neither recognise authority nor the rule of law.

The British High Commissioner advised that respect for the head of state and adherence to the rule of law are key elements in international relations and democracy.

Some people want to break the law with impunity while wishing that the international community supports.

Well let Linda and the oasis forum support them, I don’t think that they will have support of the international community. They don’t support illegality.

    • RESPECT IS EARN AND NOT DEMANDED.
What has ECL done to earn the respect of the Zambian people? Nothing.
People like ECL are nothing and have no influence without state power.

  32. All well meaning and concerned people should support the Call by the Oasis Forum to collectively stand up for our inalienable and sacred rights we are being deprived of.
We should stand ready to support the campaign which is for the highest good.
    +26 097 892 5802

  33. I do not belong to any camp. But still shocked, that while the oasis forum is trying to bring sanity to the circus some dandala heads enjoying the few falling crumbs from the table, can’t see this. We need unity of purpose please

  34. Comment:Sober up Mrs Linda Kasonde, when will you stop being unpatriotic and anti-government? The law breakers have to face the wrath of the law, whether they are your friends or not.
