President Edgar Lungu says Zambia yearns to learn from the achievements Rwanda has made through enhanced economic cooperation adding that there is room for the two countries to further bilateral ties for the mutual benefit of the citizenry.

President Lungu cited agriculture, energy and tourism as some of the sectors the two countries can work together.

He urged the two countries to share best practices that will help build the economies of Zambia and Rwanda.

President Lungu made the call when he held bilateral talks with his visiting Rwandan Counterpart Paul Kagame at State House.

The Republican President emphasized that Zambia wants to learn from the progress Rwanda has made as a prosperous nation.

Meanwhile President Lungu has wished the people of Rwanda peace and stability as the country goes to polls in August this year.

President Lungu hoped that the election results will be accepted by political parties that will participate in the August ELECTIONS.

He observed that some political parties are in a habit of denying elections results adding that it is unfortunate that some people want to accept election results as free and fair when they win.

When the due process of electoral process is followed there can be only one winner, the President said.

And President Lungu says he is worried with the instability in Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

He hoped that Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo find peace and stability.

President Lungu said Zambia and Rwanda feel the impact of instability in the two neighbouring countries.

He pointed out that conflicts are detrimental to the development of any given nation.

And Rwanda President Paul Kagame says there is need to improve trade cooperation between Rwanda and Zambia.

President Kagame observed that very little trade takes place between the two countries.

The visiting President pointed out that increased cooperation will help to strengthen bilateral ties for the benefits of the peoples of Rwanda and Zambia.

President Kagame said there are many things that Zambia and Rwanda can achieve if the two countries worked together.

Meanwhile President Kagame has thanked the Zambian government for hosting Rwandan refugees.

He said the refugees hosted in Zambia have immensely benefited from the education provide by the host State.

And Zambia and Rwanda have signed three bilateral agreements mainly in the field of Air Services, Extradition treaty and a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Defence and Security Cooperation.

Minister of Transport and Communication Brian signed on behalf of Zambia while Rwanda Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Louise signed on behalf of her country.

Minister of Home Affairs Steven Kampyongo signed the Extradition treaty on behalf of Zambia while Rwandese Minister of State in charge of constitutional and Legal Affairs Evode Uwizeyimana signed on behalf of Rwanda.

In addition , Zambia has signed a MOU with Rwanda on Defence and Security Cooperation.

Minister of Defence Davies Chama signed on behalf of Zambia while Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Louise Mushikiwabo signed on behalf of his country.

    • Kagame is revered in Rwanda same as Lungu.

If you want To be the best- you learn from the best

      Brilliant isn’t it ?

For someone in the uk an article I read the other day compared him to winston Churchill
I’m not saying I agreed with it but I do see similarities

I completed a PhD in International developments and I’m sure you will understand there is some some credence in my analogy

    • Learn from Rwanda How to systematically eliminate opponents, how to perpetuate ones stay in power, how to interfere in the Democratic Republic of Congo, how to scheme evil and smile to everyone!
Sofar so good lungu is learning from mugabe Museveni and kegame!

    • @Mushota, do you know that you can do something useful with your life? Whether you have a PhD or not has nothing to do with us. Keep it. Its your personal achievement. It does not guarantee anything. Infact If you have lived and worked in UK as you claim, you know that people in UK work with Bachelor’s degrees and college certificates. Please respect your and others time. We’d like to read constructive comments from you. Make the best of your time 🙂 Good luck.

    • Learning how to cling to power even when people don’t love you. The writing on all the walls of Zambia are clear. People want HH as their president, not Lungu. ZAMBIANS have now realised how dangerous this dictator Lungu is. Lungu has planted hatred and confusions in our country. VIVA HH VIVA! VIVA ZAMBIA FORWARD VIVA!

    • “President Kagame observed that very little trade takes place between the two countries.”
THE FIRST ENTRY POINT AND MOST IMPORTANT IS TO CONSYTRUCT A STATE-OF-THE-ART HARBOUR AT MPULUNGU. LACK OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED ALL THOSE SIGNATURES WILL YIELD NOTHING. AFTER THE STATE-OF-THE-ART HARBOUR, THEN CONSTRUCT ANOTHER STATE-OF-THE-ART MILLING PLANT IN MPULUNGU TO DEAL WITH AND PROCESS ALL TYPES OF GRAIN. AT THE SAME TIME CONSTRUCT FOOD PROCESSING PLANT IN MPULUNGU OR MBALA. WHILE THESE ARE BEING CONSTRUCTED BY IDC ENCOURAGE THE GROWING/PRODUCTION OF ALL SORTS OF GRAINS, ALL SORTS OF FRUITS, SUGAR CANES, ECT TO BE PROCESSED BY THESE FOOD PROCESSING PLANTS. EXPORT FINISHED PRODUCTS TO RWANDA AND NOT RAW MATERIALS. IDC MUST INVEST IN STATE-OF-THE-ART WATER VASSELS TO TRANSPORT EXPORTS AND…

    • IDC (INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION) MUST INVEST IN STATE-OF-THE-ART WATER VASSELS TO TRANSPORT EXPORTS AND IMPORTS PLUS HUMAN CARGO IN FORM OF TOURISTS FROM BOTH SIDES. MAKE NDOLE, KASABA, NSUMBU BAYS STATE-OF-THE-ART PLAYGROUNDS. THEN THOSE SIGNATURES WILL YIELD MANY BENEFITS ON BOTH SIDES. AND DON’T FORGET TO MAKE KASAMA-MPULUNGU ROAD A DUAL CARRIAGE WAY FOR EASY AND FAST TRANSPORTION OF BOTH FARM AND INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS PLUS HUMAN CARGO TO MPULUNGU PORT. CONNECT MPOROKOSO TO MPULUNGU BY ANOTHER ROAD. THESE ARE HIGH RAINFALL AREAS WHICH CAN PRODUCE TO FEED INTO THOSE VALUE ADDITION FACTORIES.

    • Mushota there you go again! This time around I am now made to believe what I have read on this forum about you. I had doubts until now!!!

  1. Ha, ha, Lungu do you really want to learn from Kagame. Then get out your pen: No corruption, transparency, independent judiciary, no friends in government; do not take instructions from Mugabe and Museveni; stop drinking; do not put your friends in government; DO NOT IMPRISON the OPPOSITION; stay in your own country, stop traveling all around. try and do decent things; educate your people; stop listening to cult leaders; stop using hooligans and unruly youths to intimidate; train your police that they are not used as instruments of fear.
Oh I guess the list is too long for you.

    • @2 Moses, in the what you have out in capitals is WHAT KAGAME DOES VERY WELL.However, I AGREE on the REST!! Rwanda has made PROGRESS DUE TO SERIOUS LEADERSHIP!

  2. Minister Steven Kampyongo, please stand up like a man. Your bowing shows you to be nothing but Lungu’s stooge.

    • But he is a stooge you want him to pretend…this chap was a mere Currency dealer yesterday. Go to National Assembly website and see this Bum’s qualifications!!

  3. Learn from Rwanda? a country that suffered civil war, genocide? When did Rwanda surpass Zambia, that is if Zambia has ever been ahead

    • Rwanda is doing better than Zambia, you ignoramus. It’s even currently more respected than Zambia. Go to YouTube and search for modern Kigali. Also learn about their Vision 2020 and 2040.

  4. “In addition , Zambia has signed a MOU with Rwanda on Defence and Security Cooperation.”
This is how dull this govt of Lazy Lungu is Rwanda had to work with likes of FBI and other Police Agencies to update their Secruity wings….just quick to sign MOU with every jim and jack for a photo opp..

  5. This man every thing to him is copying, how many things is he going to copy from other countries or maybe that s the only word he knows better?

  6. As a former peacekeeper Zambia Army light infantry division and once deployed in Kigali during that nation’s darkest hour, and having personally met Lt General Paul Kagame I can tell you fellow readers that Kagame is one of if not the greatest African leader in the same class as late Captain Thomas Sankara. A brilliant mind both in military and civilian circles. God bless Paul Kagame a great leader! Let Zambia learn how we can cut pointless red tape and increase govt efficiency- inefficieny breeds corruption Rwanda is listed as the easiest country in Africa to do business in Zambia you have to pass through how many offices to just register a company????

  7. What does lungu smoke? U can’t learn anything good from Paul, Edgar if u want to learn good governance and put the country forward go to John pombe magufuli of Tanzania, there u will learn things.

  8. We have a lot to learn indeed.
From Mugabe, Museveni and now Kigame! Wonder when Bashir is coming.Notice anything common about their governance?

  9. Suppressing your people, you will be learning forever while educated people leave from your country. No wonder in SA they ask every time like, “apart from helping neighboring countries to gain independence what has Zambia got to show?” ba ECL ndwiii? There is nothing to learn, just act right, you know what you’re supposed to do period. Exceptionally stup!d president. I have not seen results from your learning from Israel, China etc and now you’re learning from Rwanda you really suck. Now Zambia is in international news for all the wrong reasons.

  10. Go to learn first wherever you like and maybe in some distant future try to be an MP not a president, you’re wasting our time. Many of us are ready to lead and make true progress visible in all aspects of our citizens’ lives.

  11. SOME OF THE THINGS WE DON’T NEED TO LEARN! It is mere COMMITMENT and SERIOUSNESS that DOES IT! We have never had leadership so commitment to SERIOUS WORK for Zambia since KK! Levy and Sata tried but did not reach Kagame’s levels and had not ruled long enough! That said, I am WORRIED about signing: COOPERATION AGREEMENTS ON DEFENCE with a country that has a RECORD OF SPONSORING INSTABILITY in our neighbor DRC,EXTRADITION TREATY with a country that HUNTS DOWN POLITICAL OPPONENTS in Diaspora!!THESE may spell trouble for us in future! Kagame has been given way TOO MUCH; some refugees here with opposing views may be extradited to Rwanda, while his RwandAir uses Zambia’s position to grow!We MAY LEARN from him how to MODERNIZE LUSAKA, the KIGALI WAY!!

  12. Extradition treaty with Rwanda uhm? I wouldn’t sign that. Its quite clear who wants to benefit from that. BTW don’t get me wrong Kagame has done quite some good for his country and has shown all of us what is possible and achievable anywhere but he has his own ‘black spots’. I hope he will learn and appreciate the fact that life is not just about one individual. You don’t have to kill each other because of having diffident opinions about stuff. People especially Africans must learn to differ respectfully and stop being traitors like Mobutu. Look at Equatorial Guinea thugs (Obiang – father & son), DRC (Kabila) unbelievable.

  13. Rwanda is doing business the right way. Our own ministers have visited the fast-developing Rwanda and reportedly sobbed to see the once war-torn country come together to develop their nation more than the peaceful Zambia. For your own information, Engineers discarded in Zambia for accused political inclinations or lack of it, have found themselves jobs in Rwanda AND are the ones helping. Gen. Paul Kagame is aware and is just wondering!

  14. City cleanliness, national airline and wholesome ICT adoption is just about the only thing Zed can learn from Rwanda. But national cohesion, peace and economic diversification are not Rwanda’s strength.

  15. Rwanda is the size of one district in Zambia but with a population close to that of ours. However, the country through the great leadership of President Paul Kagame has made good use of the goodwill from the international community following the genocide. I think Zambia could take a leaf from zero tolerance to corruption, discipline in the police and military and master plans which are adhered to the letter. So long as President Kagame continues with the exemplary leadership, he must be supported by Africans.

  16. what a shame that Zambia is now learning from Rwanda instead of the other way round; learn about cleanness and technology and way of doing business but not dictatorship;

  17. Lungu just wants to learn how to do genocide on the Tongas using the Bembas.
But this will fail because the Tongas have other tribes on there side and many friends to crush them.

    • We the Bemba people have intermarried with Tongas and have no intention to do genocide on our aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, etc.
Actually I find your statement appalling!

  18. dont reply to what the PHD holder posts, because if you do, the more she is going to write and send that kind of stuff. just ignore her because she has never sent sensible comments to match the so called PHD.

  19. You are measured by the company that you keep. Can someone tell me and the rest of the country of what good is Kagame, Mugabe and Museveni. Who is the best of all these gentlemen and how good is he. Someone who understands my post please.

  20. Zambia now stands like a well running out of water and it needs someone to dig deeper to find another layer water. But the question is,is there someone digging deeper or the well is being buried slowly.

  21. Let me refraze my earlier reflection… it’s the Bembas using lungu to fix the Tongas.
But this will not work, Tongas have cousins and other tribes on their side plus HH and upnd supporers to crush them.

    • Iwe Chi Fred, what are you made out of? No one will cause genocide in this country Zambia as we are not made of such hatefulness! I am Bemba and I love all Zambians.
      Stop preaching hatred iwe fulunyemba!
      You are simply appalling!

  22. What I know about learning is that we go to School, the School does not come to our homes. Fyabupuba fye ifyakulayumfwisha bwino ba mbuli.

    • You must not have been following what is happening in Rwanda. You can’t say anything again Kagame. You will disappear in no time! All opposition leaders are in prison.

  23. In that top picture Lungu is asking Kagame there “Yeah how can I commit genocide down here in Zed? And Kagame responds: Try locking up HH

  24. Thugs meet in Lusaka to encourage each other. How can Zambia learn from Rwanda? How to create a repressive regime?

  25. Rwanda can learn from Zambia’s achievements in cadre-ism ,endless by elections ,a capital city looking like pig shed and ramping up your indebtedne$$ fast.

  26. Let us learn indeed…. neatness, in private and public places. Hands down ,, Rwanda is neat, no plastics, no droppings of any kind. Introduce Market days and cleaning days…
Cut unnecesary red tape and groom all institutions to appreaciate ‘Inspection and tax payment’

  27. president Kagame has built hundreds of new schools and laid miles of high-speed fiber-optic lines, wisely investing in infrastructure projects, including environmentally sound ones like a coming geothermal energy plant. Rwanda now has one of the fastest-growing economies on the continent, despite the fact that it doesn’t have significant mineral deposits and is landlocked, deep in the green heart of Africa, hundreds of miles from the sea.

  28. Kagame has abolished the death penalty, released thousands of so-called génocidaires from jail to participate in a reconciliation process, decentralized government, given the opposition seats in his Cabinet and taken a stand against African homophobia. So i don’t see what makes some people to accuse him of violeting human rights?

  29. Since Kagame forces ended the genocide against the Tutsi minorities in Rwanda, Kagame has presided over Rwanda’s stunning rebirth. Its economy has grown an average of 6.4% since 2001; the World Bank named Rwanda as the most improved country; roads, schools, running water and phones are widespread; disease is down; literacy and life expectancy are up; even the mountain gorillas are thriving. That record makes Kagame, the star of a new Africa recast as a place of growth and opportunity, a status U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon cemented on June 24 when he named Kagame co-chair of a new panel on ending world poverty.

  30. Let me see:

Rwanda and President Kagame, former head of Military Intelligence of the Ugandan Army before invading Rwanda in 1994, is doing everything they are accusing Zimbabwe and President Mugabe of doing. He has killed opponents overseas, he has imprisoned a large number of the Hutu population (the majority) and relevantly, he put the head of the opposition party, Victoire Ingarabire, in jail.

So what is President Lungu learning from President Kagame?
