Dear Editor,

I have tried to contact my friends in the intelligence community by making appointments but to no avail hence my coming out publicly on this important subject of current national interest. Zambia has had three major battles it has won, the first was the removal of the repressive white rule in 1964, the second the Rhodesia Boer war won in 1980 with Zimbabwe’s liberation where I personally participated and the last was the Zambian people’s triumph over Comrade KK 27 years rule over Zambia in 1991.

The continued incarceration of HH cannot pass without comment for those of us who have experienced war and value peace for continued prosperity of our children, grand children and nation.

Without prejudice, and having been a World Bank staff member, there is no doubt that unnecessary high political risks have been rising in the international community by putting HH in prison for charges which are unclear and do not appear to warrant a treasonable charge.

In addition to the Euro Bond debt repayment obligations, high political risks are a major contributing factor to a bad cash crisis in people’s homes, as investor are extremely sensitive to such risks and I am afraid that Zambia needs a sustained cash inflow from the international community, multilateral, bilateral and private sector investment for the country to register reasonable growth levels which must not be inhibited by unreasonable macro policy actions.

I witnessed the unfortunate violence that took place recently at Memorial Park. We were in the presence of dignitaries from Malawi, such as Hon. Mlanda Chiume, former Minister and now MP for Nkhata Bay. It was a very sad day for all of us mourners. If such things are not checked, violence may escalate in future.

The way things stand, I can only think of one person who can mediate in this crisis and it comrade KK. Sorry your Excellency to take you back from retirement, but we seem to have reached a point of no return and are now faced with reducing returns to scale.

    • The biggest problem we have is chief of injustice mambilima. She should not allowed anyone to take the presidency until they can prove with evidence in court they won and the court needed to validly declare them based on evidence nothing else. All this would never have happened.

      Now they dont want to hear the word dialogue with UPND and release HH unconditionally. But when the war starts they will be the first ones to call for dialogue. Unfortunately when a fire starts its near impossible to extinquish it until it has done its job. The people who will decide to fight Lungu wont want to hear the word dialogue until he is defeated and brought to book.

      That day is coming very soon and it will be like a dream for Lungu and his thug Kaiser. They should ask KK.

    • Mr Sikazwe’s article is baseless.I was looking for cash inflow figures for a period before HH WENT IN AND NOW THAT HE IS relaxing in detention.Non of these statistics have been provided but he goes to conclude that Zambia will experience reduced Cash inflows for as long as HH remains detained.The problem we are facing in this country is that those who want HH released are not putting forward what HH should do to facilitate his release.For me I think HH is under CAPTURE from his advisers such as William Banda and GBM.Before these people joined UPND,HH had lost FOUR Presidential Elections in a row but never behaved the way he has behaved this time around.History is that both William Banda and GBM are famous for violence.Let sober minds like Hon Musokotwane,Lungwangwa,Vincent Malambo etc…

After you catch the arresting officer for all the charges lying and force him to apologize in court you continue to delay releasing an innocent man because someone does not want him to pursue the truth about the August election which in public domain appear to have been manipulated.

    • My take too. If Lungu “orders ” the release of HH it’ll simply mean he’s behind his detention. Also how’s HH going to clear his name. Just like the Gabon disaster, we shall not know the truth if the court process is short circuited because of this Sikazwe. And why is trying to contact OP for?   4. I suspect the writer is soliciting comments over the HH detention. He is probably a hired gun from the intelligent.(shushu). The intelligent system have been unable to gauge the mood of the people because the PF government has shut all avenues of dissenting views. Toady, the ZICTA is working to assessing the security situation by monitoring comments from bloggers.
    The worst is that not everyone in Zambia uses the social media. Just ignore Mr Sikazwe. He is Namwanga related to Freedom Sikwaze Minister of Presidential Affairs.

    Money is nothing without the respect to the rule of law. Money cant save you but respect can.

    If HH is realised without the due processes of the court, Lungu will be proven dictator and that will impact negatively on his personal integrity, political integrity, presidential integrity and PF political party integrity.

    Therefore, HH should face the full might of the law in its fullness. HH did not only undermine Lungu but the all zambian people who elected Lungu President and Lungu represents all zambians.

    For starters, this comment is contemptuous. You are trying to arm twist the government into abrogating the constitution, which is wrong. I suggest you let the judiciary do their work without undue influence. Threatening the government with financial and economic repercussions is wrong. SORRY MR. SIKAZWE, YOU ARE OFFSIDE!!!

  8. Use the right channel to push your agenda. The church tied to pull a fast one through the catholics and Telesphore Mpundu but taking sides and pointing fingers just worsened the situation. Our Republican Vice President yesterday hosted the church, not just Telesphore and the catholics but the SDA, Islamic Council, The New Apostolic Faith, UCZ, the Pentecostals etc and they resolved to create a task force which will represent the church and speak as one voice. Humility, unity, neutrality is what will resolve this matter, Mr. Sikazwe.

    THERE IS NO PRESIDENT WHO CAN RELEASE US. ONLY THE DUE PROCESS OF THE LAW WILL SET US FREE AND WE ARE MORE THAN READY TO BE SUBJECTED TO IT.

  27. Some people are exalting HH to the status of God. Ba Sikazwe surely, is HH that important to you? HH is not above you and me; he is not a superior being. Nor is he above the law. So, if he commits an offense, he should be subjected to the due process of the law just like the rest of us. As for donor aid being cut off on account of one mortal being called HH, I doubt donor agencies are that naive. If, on the other hand, donors decide to cut off aid on HH’s account, let it be. I would rather live in a poor country called Zambia than one whose sovereignty and dignity is mortgaged to HH’s and donor’s interests.

Without Respect for Rule of Law, Constitutionalism, Human Rights and Good Governance foreign inflows into Zambia will dry up with adverse effects on the Economy.President Akufo Addo has advised Lungu to respect individual liberties and Release HH unconditionally becoz he is innocent and has not committed any Treason. The charges are politically motivated and are meant to keep HH in Jail even though he did not commit a Crime. Lungu should realise that he will not be in power forever.   34. Mr. Sikazwe sounds as if he is writing from Jupter. For his information I was a victim of Musumbulwa at Hodgeson Technical College (now David Kaunda Sec School), witnessed dissolution of Federation of Rhodesia & Nyasaland and the birth of Zambia on 24th October 1964.

    Our late Harry Nkumbula, Mungoni Liso and Anderson Mazoka never behaved the way Hakaimbe Hichilema is exhibiting himself. HH has aligned himself with enemies of Zambia, a beloved country of his own (HH’s) biological children. He is linked to the Oppenheimer’ Brunthurst Foundation that hates Zambia. He flirts with Obasanjo (a Yoruba) who hates Zambia for having supported Biafrans. Ba Sikazwe, we cannot throw away our democratic norms for the sake of a treacherous HH. God forbid – Lusaka Times has limited space.

He has been hinting about his intentions and we Zambians have been naive so far. We better wake up to this reality and stand against the demonic agenda against our country. It is no joke. The intent is clear by now. Preaching amagedon and refusing to accept an election which every other observer has acknowledged is all part of the plot. There is everything sinister about upnd petitioning an election result, failing to present a single evidence but then crying foul as if its anybody’s fault. All this is part of the plan…
