The MAST, a controversial tabloid, has carried a burning headline reading: “it is not a criminal offence not to recognize a President of the country”.
When reached for a comment, Mulongoti said it is good that Phiri has awakened from slumber and come to terms with reality that recognition of the President is not a forcing matter.
Mulongoti said Phiri’s remarks have vindicated him and others who have refused to recognize President Edgar Lungu on principle that the Presidential Petition brought forward by United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema and his deputy Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba was not heard.

And Mulongoti says Government is very aware that Hichilema’s popularity bar has been raised since his incarceration over 80 days ago.
Mulongoti said Hichilema’s competitors are sacred of his growing popularity as some people who did not believe in him have started doing so following his incarceration.
Mulongoti said Hichilema is getting sympathy from the general public and PF supporters following his incarceration on treason offence.
“Government is very aware that Hichilema’s popularity bar has been raised since his incarceration over 80 days ago” Mulongoti said
Meanwhile, Mulongoti believes Hichilema will come out fighting after his incarceration no matter how long it takes and prayed that the judge is allocated to Hichilema’s treason case so that it is expeditiously disposed of.
Mulongoti said true justice comes from God and prayed that the Almighty Lord prevails over Hichilema’s case.

Malabish! you are also a leader of an opposition party if you don’t recognize the President then tell us who should be president and why. Since you are the voice of the opposition, perhaps you could also enlighten us on why UPND failed to provide evidence of their grievances in the time frame stipulated by a law you possibly assisted in enacting?
It is not a crime for an individual not to recognised the president but going round campaigning and telling others not to do so is a crime Mr mulongoti think.
Don’t recognize The President but do not hold meeting telling others not to do so because you will be sighted for supporting anarchy. By the way has any one in Zambia been arrested for not recognizing the President? I am just wondering why Mulongoti is so excited with this issue. No one has been arrested for not recognizing ECL. So it’s just setting the record straight. Secondly this idea of every Him and jack calling upon the name of the Lord our God every time you are in trouble but you continue insulting the same institutions that god has ordained is very dangerous. You do not call upon the name of the Lord God in vein. Unfortunately most of these politicians do that every time. You use the same mouth to curse and bless and pray! It does not work like that
