Eight players from Zambia’s 2017 Cosafa Cup team have been dropped for this weekends 2018 CHAN away qualifier against Swaziland

Prominent on the list of players dropped for the Swaziland trip are defenders Lawrence Chungu and Webster Mulenga including midfielder Mwila Phiri, who all started in the 3-1 Cosafa Cup final loss to Zimbabwe at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Rustenburg..

Midfielder Mike Katiba, who got injured in the 39th minute against Zimbabwe and replaced by Lubinda Mundia, has also been dropped.

The 8 have made way for 11 players from Zanaco and Zesco United who had CAF club cup obligations during the duration of the Cosafa Cup.

But there’s no place for Power Dynamos midfielder Fwayo Tembo who has 7 goals this season.

Instead Nyirenda has called Fwayo’s clubmate Martin Phiri who has netted 3 goals so far this season.

Meanwhile, the 13 players, who include Lusaka Dynamos midfielder Cletus Chama, will fly into South Africa where Zambia remain in camp until Thursday when they travel to Swaziland for the CHAN first round, first leg qualifier.

The winner over both legs will advance to the last round in August where they will face South Africa or Botswana in August for a place in January’s finals to be held in Kenya.

  1. U SEE ZAMBIANS ICHIMPWENA U LOOSE A GAME AND CONTINUE STAY IN SOSA AFILIKA ? CANT LEARN LESSONS FROM THE BEATING THAT ECL GOT BY MUGABE 3-1 GET OUT THEIR GO TO LESOTHO TO CAMP AS U PREPARE FOR TH GAME

  2. WADA has demonstrated that he is way much a failure in coaching senior national teach through personal fights on Fwayo Tembo at the expense of the national team. . As a coach/leaders he needed to put perosnal diffrences away from the national team selection. Selection of the national team players should be based on quality and not relationships, tribe etc.We tax payers THEREFORE, demand the removal of WADA as chipolopolo coach.

  3. Wada Kuwayawaya fye. Why not include Saith Sakala (ZANACO)? I hope Toaster will be in the goal post pantu ba Chibwe bwafya

  4. Wada should not be cheated that he can come up with his new national team. Don’t blame defenders for the loss or insults. Blame yourself for fielding team ‘C’. This team if it was to play against a selection of those that remained can lose. You are repeating the same.

I think we need to go back to matches of all stars verses the rest.

  5. Dropping the current league top scorer fwayo is the biggest mistake Wada has made in his quest to redeem Chipolopolo fortunes . And why include gameles siwlimba from zesco?.

If Wada think national team is about Zesco and Zanaco , he will never succeed at any competition we now have a competitive league of 20 teams so why not cast net wide in selecting national team?

  6. Do you see gentlemen what team selection is like in this lineup? I can I sure you this team will not perform. I am not a misfortune wisher but the selection of players is not good at all. Remember, I said it before this coach doesn’t know who can do better on what position. Saith, Fwayo……even those boys at Kabwe warriors are performing better than some of the boys. Its sad that the coach still insist about “rebuilding”. Did you see Germany in the confed Cup? The average age was 25 years learn to select players properly! Even the defense you also leave out George Chilufya— may be you have a point. So sad!

  7. Wada is a good coach but he has no gift when it comes to team selection
I say so because every time he selects
    a team many questions arise
Remember this also is a gift and not every coach has it. Well give you a benefit of doubt but bring back good results or you will find your self an exit

    • How does one who cant select the team properly be a good coach? Good selection of players is part of good coaching

  8. @Walusungu. Your advise is timely. Zesco and Zanaco is too much. Coach take it, cast the net widely. Otherwise we shall be losing like anything.

  9. ba faz please, save us from yet another embarrassment we are about to experience because of this wada . the national team is too big for him, let him go back to his former club Mozambique. how can he leave out fwayo tembo? coz fwayo was among the few players who played well when we lost to Mozambique. do not let us regret voting out ba kalu from faz. In case you have not realized it yet, that k150 000 loss you incurred when we played Mozambique was due to this poor performance we are seeing in the national team under wada and if this situation is left unchecked, you are yet to incur even more losses.

  10. Honestly where is this coach taking us?He can’t even choose better players.Fwayo is in good form and he is left out.KAYA! He can’t even learn from his last two games as a coach.
