FDD welcomes HH’s call for unconditional dialogue

Share

Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) National Coordinator Lawrence Mwelwa has welcomed United Party for National Development (UPND) Leader Hakainde Hichilema’s statement suggesting that His party is ready to dialogue with the Ruling Patriotic Front (PF) and its leader Edgar Lungu.

Speaking in an interview with Pan African Radio, Dr Mwelwa said Mr. Hichilema’s statement was welcome as it concerns the restoration of peace in Zambia.

Dr. Mwelwa observed that going by the recent spate of vandalism to private and public property in Zambia, it is clear that the country’s peace and stability is slowly deteriorating.

Dr. Mwelwa said lawlessness leading to a state of emergence is as a result of lack of interest in dialogue exhibited by both the Patriotic Front (PF) and the opposition UPND.

And Dr Mwelwa hopes that President Edgar Lungu and the entire Patriotic Front (PF) will agree and commit to the proposed unconditional dialogue with the UPND which is the only key to the country’s peace.

  1. I think Dr. Mwelwa just wanted to says something and in the process he has said nothing. When you have a truant, disrespectful opposition leader who has incited violence and now has unofficially requested for “unconditional” dialogue, you need to be categorical and specific when you pass comments on such an issue.

    • @OneNation, are you sure HH has received justice? Where else other than the courts was HH supposed to dispute the election results? Is it fair to have someone locked up for 100 days for alleged treason and fail for this long to bring case up for trial. You may have a dislike HH for whatever reason (mostly envy and jealousy) but let us not forget that HH and co-accused are humans and their rights should be safeguarded regardless

    • Can this “Dr” say which Universities he went to? I reckon he is just wanting to be known on the scene. Is this the guy who has a job at some church? Ask nevers s mumba

  2. What’s there to dialogue about other than waiting for 2021? Lungu won period. What’s there to discuss? HH should just start planning for the next election.

  3. What is so special about the masonist. We have remandees who have not been heard for a very long time and they are not complaining. HH shud be treated like any other suspect. If anything, he is just a suspect. He can eithetnwin or lose the case. I have a feeling he wilget death penalty or life in prison.

  4. At least one condition. Firstly, accept that you will be having dialogue with the incumbent President. If you cannot accept that he is President, in what capacity would you like him to sit at the table?

  5. So, ba Dr. Mwelwa, do you accept that E.L. Lungu is the President? If you do, then please encourage others to do the same, and dialogue will be made much easier. This has been the hindrance to dialogue all this time.

  6. Fu,ck Dogs Doter. that is the meaning of GDD, so to hell wit the stup!d senses of HH about dialogue. he just wha’t to escape the treason charge.

  7. Dr. Mwelwa observed that going by the recent spate of vandalism to private and public property in Zambia, it is clear that the country’s peace and stability is slowly deteriorating.

Dr.Confirms its UPND who are doing all these.

  8. while am tempted to agree with Dr Mwelwa, i have one question, Edgar Lungu will address HH as leader of the main opposition(which is collect and right), now my question is, how will HH address Edgar Lungu, or in what capacity will he be meeting with Edgar Lungu?
    that question brings complexity because

    1. if HH still insist he doesn’t recognize ECL, then he cant seek dialogue with him, otherwise he might as well ask to dialogue with me because to HH ECL is just a mere citizen like myself.

    2. if HH recognises the government in place, then i would ask who is the leader according to him of the the same government so that he can dialogue unconditionally with.

Doctors and Professors of our great nation, kindly educate me to understand how this HH unconditional dialogue will happen…

  9. WHAT DIALOGUE AFTER LOTS OF INSULTS, DIS-RESPECT FOR THE HEAD OF STATE. NO DIALOGUE, LET THE LAW TAKE ITS COURSE.

  10. FDD what? No opposition party in Zambia has a sane mind! No sane or alternative programme to run the country! We can gather some meee and start dialoguing with them and the matter is over!

  11. Dialogue has been popularised and being sung about in Zambia but I still don’t get what people want to dialogue over. I don’t get it. As far as I am concerned, we simply have a case where elderly men are behaving like spoilt brats entitled to some toys. All we need is for people to grow up and behave their age. Zambia is big for a few individuals to mess it up.
