President Edgar Lungu President has today met with members of the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) at State House. According to a press statement released to the media by State House, the church leaders were at State House to underscore their commitment to working with Government for the good of the Zambian people.

ZCCB president, Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu who led a 14-member team of Catholic Bishops said: “We are emissaries of our Church and we come to express our good wishes to you and your Government.”

Commenting on the recent fires in the nation, Archbishop Mpundu said: “We deplore acts of violence such as arson as shown by the torching of the City Market. Our hearts reach out to the victims of this act and their loved ones.”

He continued: “We also decry the acts of sabotage aimed at public installations aimed at crippling economic progress. The culture of cadres across the entire political spectrum of political parties must be replaced by inclusiveness and zero tolerance for violence.”

The Catholic Bishops also appealed to the President to humble himself, put the country first and seriously consider engaging in a genuine face-to-face dialogue with opposition leader Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, such dialogue that will be aimed at reconciliation.

“Your Excellency is quite alive to the historic reconciliation that took place between the two late presidents Levy Mwanawasa and Michael Chilufya Sata. We would like the State to facilitate our visit to Mr Hakainde Hichilema so that we can deliver the same message to him, namely to humble himself, open the door and pursue the path towards genuine reconciliation.”

The President responded positively and encouraged the Catholic Bishops to visit Mr Hichilema and deliver their message.

Home Affairs Permanent Secretary Dr Chileshe Mulenga who attended the meeting said the Ministry will immediately facilitate the Bishops’ request.

The President welcomed the Bishops’ overtures for dialogue, but insisted that such a dialogue should be premised on the opposition first accepting the outcome of the 2016 elections.

The President reassured the Church of his commitment to constitutionalism, democracy and the rule of law. “My Lords I wish to assure you of my full commitment to our citizens’ democratic rights. They shall be safe under my Presidency.’’

The President thanked the Church for their appeal to dialogue and reconciliation while urging them to be more vocal on actions from any quarters that threaten national peace and unity. “I want to appeal to the Church to speak with a louder voice against violence and other acts that undermine our peace and unity,’’ the Head of State said.

The Bishops also said: “Our overriding concern is the aftermath of the election that was held in August last year, 2016. It cannot be denied that it was a divisive election which has left the people of this nation deeply divided. Following Your Excellency’s appeal on 12th March, 2016 at Mpika, we responded by drawing leaders from other church groupings to put our heads together in order to bring the political players together in view of conducting campaign peacefully and ensure peaceful elections. The meeting at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross was meant to achieve a consensus on how to conduct peaceful campaign. You are also a witness that it was not very successful.”

“We repeat this call to Your Excellency and through you to your Government to embark upon a well spelt out and action oriented programme of National Reconciliation through genuine dialogue. We call upon you as President of the whole nation not just your political party to put in place concrete measures to reverse the worrying and very dangerous trend of doing politics through violence.”

Archbishop Mpundu hoped that this meeting will be a building block in promoting a mutually appreciated relationship between the Church and State.

“We never tire to reiterate that the constituency of the Political Authority and that of the Church is one and the same, namely the people of this great nation. That is why the State and the Church must cooperate with each other in its sphere of competence for the benefit of our people. This cooperation consists of comparing notes and exchanging experiences in view of enhanced service delivery to God’s people at whose service both the State and the Church must be in order to be relevant.”

Archbishop Mpundu led 13 bishops and Father Cleophas Lungu who attended the hour-long meeting whilst the President was accompanied by Religious Affairs Minister Rev. Godfredah Sumaili, Presidential Affairs Minister Freedom Sikazwe and Home Affairs Permanent Secretary Dr. Chileshe Mulenga.

The Bishops are: ZCCB Vice-president Bishop Alick Banda, Bishop Ignatius Chama, Bishop Patrick Chisanga, Bishop Justin Mulenga, Bishop Charles Kasonde, Bishop Clement Mulenga, Bishop Evans Chinyemba, Bishop Moses Hamungole, Bishop Valentine Kalumba, Bishop Raymond Mpezele, Bishop George Lungu, Bishop Benjamin Phiri and the ZCCB Secretary General Father Cleophas Lungu.

  1. This is a gesture of showing an Olive branch to HH

    He should do it

UPND are a nonsensical party who remind me of ISIS, the trouble is , they are NOT succeeding in our country

    Thanks

    BB2014,2016

    • HH is in for the peace deal. But where are they going to meet, Mukobeko?
Courts have to speed up HH case, before Lungu change mind.

    • The only message HH will understand is a one of impunity and hate against ECL. Bishops please don’t waste your time vising the hater of peace, aka prince of dundumwedzi

    • Lungu had a just to go for un conditional dialogue since he has given a condition then he has squandered the chance.I must emphasize that we don’t fear him, infact let him continue on this path we uproot once and for all.thank God the men of have saved this month was not going to last.

    • “ZCCB president, Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu who led a 14-member team of Catholic Bishops said:…”.
      IT SHOULD READ:
‘ZCCB president, Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu who MISLED a 14-member team of Catholic Bishops said:’

    • Mushota – can you please not comment on important issues with negative comments, I will report you to LT. Zambia is going through a lot of problems right now. She needs some solutions right now…IF it’s true you have any sort of a degree this is the time to put in your input….instead of you leaving pay check to pay check…in the U.K. and pretending you are better than everyone else. Ugly black wanna be..

    • You are the one who is a nonsensical person claiming to be holding a higher qualification but reasoning like a toddler. Most of your posts leave much to be desired because you not different from street kids PF recruited as their militia groups.

    • LUNGU is crazy,at tell hh to accept the results of 2016,so that we start the process of dialogue.so HH is in jail not because of treason, but his refusal to recognise lungu as president.if this wasn’t the case lungu would have said am looking forward to the courts to conclude hh cases as soon as possible.

    • What sort of reasoning is this Mushota? The church and most loving Zambian citizens including the international communities have been trying hard to make this happen (Reconciliation). Please be serious with your postings for once.

Many thanks to the Bishops and thanks to ECL for making an effort.

    • Well done ZCCB, I think you put your message across very well including “We call upon you as President of the whole nation not just your political party to put in place concrete measures to reverse the worrying and very dangerous trend of doing politics through violence.”
However, it sounds HE ECL is still in “Dununa Reverse” gear by his ” insisted that such a dialogue should be premised on the opposition first accepting the outcome of the 2016 elections.”
But that is the core issue which has left Zambia divided, I would expect ECL to go a step further, for the sake of peace, without such condition.

    • Reconciliation and dialogue is a two way road OUR President, the democratically elected and internationally recognised Head of State of the Republic of Zambia Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu has on several occasions turned a deaf ear to the malicious lies and insults from the ex privitisation crook, conman, tribal Lord and sa.tanic blood thirsty cretin Human Hyena (HH) and yet HH continued to test OUR President! Why? It shows HH is not a genuine person and he has only himself to blame for his current predicament! However let Peace reign if Human Hyena (HH) is willing let there be reconciliation if he is not willing let him continue touring all prisons in Zambia as kaili number1 right up until 2026 and beyond!

    • QUALITIES OF A GOOD LEADER:

      – A Uniter, NOT a divider
      – Uses power to develop all NOT abuse of power to punish opponents
      – A reconciler NOT a provoker
      – Asks counsel NOT making threats & decrees, declarations
      – Uses wisdom NOT advice from thugs like Kaizer Zulu, Mumbi Phiri, Kapyongo
      – Applies the law equally & fairly NOT abusing the justice system to punish opponents
      – Allows people to debate & enjoy there freedoms NOT banning protests, imposing curfews
      – Uses Govt resources to uplift the people NOT to self-enrich himself & those close to him
      – Accepts defeat NOT rigging elections & changing constitution to rule till Mugabe.

Unfortunately your MALAWIAN Moslem Dictator does NOT have these qualities. Someone brave needs to cut off the head of the snake.

    • This is an evil man who should not be in power at all. How can he say that he has okayed the Bishops to see HH? The shocking hypocrisy is in full display because at one time he says he respects the judiciary to do it is job and then on the other hand says he has “okayed” Bishops to see HH. Interfering with the Courts system and disrepct for good governance is what this numbskull knows. What a thinking capacity of an ant!”

    • Lungu is the most arrogant President ever Zambia has ever had. Might be because he still guilty of the fact that the he never won the last two elections.
This is a last chance for a peaceful reconciliation otherwise God forbid it can end up been bloody.

    • This is the silliest post under these circumstances – instead of commenting on the change of language by an Archbishop who a few weeks ago called the President a dictator, today he wants to pretend those words did not come from his mouth. Could be some pep talk from the Nuncio or even the Vatican. So, when he came face to face with a “Dictator” the language changed.

    • The language is still the same. What has changed? He is being told to change the way politics are being run with violence. Never before has politics been run this way let alone in a democracy!

  2. So they need permission from the President in order to visit HH. The Police are refusing to allow the opposition to meet, even in their own homes.

How is this not a dictatorship?

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s a duck.

    • I don’t think the president means what he is saying.soon will hear that they have been denied by the prisons under his secret instruction to the prison warders and the pf police cadres…lol

    • @3 Kamba and 3.1 Mulenga, READ THE ARTICLE AGAIN and see: “Home Affairs Permanent Secretary Dr Chileshe Mulenga who attended the meeting said the Ministry will immediately facilitate the Bishops’ request” -Read “IMMEDIATELY”, he DIDN’T SAY he “will seek Lungu’s permission to allow the visit”!

  3. This is what we call Catholic Church representation, not Bishop Mpundu did at Kapingila House a few weeks ago

    • ArchBishop Mpundu is president of ZCCB and represents it and the Catholic Church. The ZCCB represents the Catholic Church.
The fact that, I, a member of the Catholic Church is not sitting with the President at State House, does not make me unrepresented. The same is true for individual Bishops, they can’t say they are unrepresented. This is what hiearrarchy is all about!

  4. At least each one of the bishops will go with a brown envelop from corrupt, hypocrite, murder, drunkard Chagwa Lungu…lol

    • Love him or hate him, Lungu has shown leadership, humbleness and magnanimity by agreeing to the dialogue with HH. I sure hope HH has also used his time in prison to reflect and put Zambia first. 2016 is gone, forget about the lost election. Even Hilary Clinton accepted her suspicions loss yet she doesn’t have 2021 in the horizon. ECL should now focus on development while HH should focus on objective checks and balances. Mulu nyandisize kihona. Both should show leadership henceforth. Of course HH should be freed first

    • Omfwilefye insoni nomwenso, not that he is ‘humble’. It is pressure from the local and international community tapali nafimbi. He listened to Saviour Chishimba’s message.

  5. As they go to visit hh they should impress upon him that theres always a next time…pick the pieces and try again in 2021 rather than running around from court to court

    • But if what went wrong is never addressed and corrected, it will happen again. I think Lungu is concentrating so much on what HH is doing that working. Sata pertitioned Mwanawasa’s election results, but never did you hear him focus on Sara’s court issues…

    • @7.2 Manb, SATA NEVER PETITIONED ANY ELECTIONS, despite loosing in years 2006 and 2008 where it looked liked his best chances. He OLNY COMPLAINED and KEPT CAMPAIGN ON ISSUES that SAW HIS POPULARITY SOAR, until he won in 2011!! HH and his UPND feel by insulting and showing disrespecting to all government institutions and all those who disagree with them on matters of principle, then they will be the wisest and cleverest opposition political party!! I NEVER HEARD SATA SAYING HE WAS PRESIDENT AND NOT THE ONE WHO WAS OFFICIALLY SWORN IN BY THE CHIEF JUSTICE. HE NEVER TOLD HIS MPs TO REFUSE TO RECOGNIZE LEVY NOR RB AS PRESIDENTS! HE WAS A PROPER OPPOSITION LEADER, A SEASONED POLITICIAN WHO KNEW TIMING FOR HIS ACTIONS, NOT aba BA HH!!

    • Lungu stole the election……if he won why would he rather be called a theif than just let the nation see UPND petition is empty.

He fears the petition like 14 days changed the evidence…

  6. You My dear Mulenga, Catholic Bishops are not like your cheap pastors who are after your hard earned money. You cannot corrupt Catholic Bishops. Ask KK, he will tell you. They went to State House to seek peace for mother Zambia. You see, they are saying the president of Zambia , and not President of PF.

If you come to the discussion table without accepting what the Bishops have said, then forget about it.

    • Ba Nyirenda – We know that but we cannot what Archbishop Mpundu said a few weeks ago surrounded by UPND officials.

    • UPND officials are Zambians, in case you want to categorise them differently! And free to attend any meeting! It is this same mentality that brings clashes when attending same meeting!

  7. UBunga is now k50 from k106. Kwachs stable. fuel will be k8.0 diesel. Dollar at k8.

What more do you want . You cant eat democracy

    2026 ecl must continue

  8. Well done my Lords. What else shall we say!
Let the politicians and cadres humble themselves and the save the nation from total damnation.

  9. This is a progressive move. I only with both leaders of the two major political parties can iron out the differences. Sometimes I feel the Concourt is to blame for not being proactive in the management of time as they presided over the petition. EL did nothing wrong and HH must understand him from that angle. HH needs to accept this and build on his momentum while looking forward to the next chance. If anything is to be discussed regarding presidency, it must be how petitions should be managed should there be one in future. I love UPND and would wish to appeal to those that share my idea to embrace peace in our nation. We have one Zambia and lets not let political differences divide our beloved country.

  10. These bishops ve double standards. When their hh was busy insulting lungu, they were quite. When gbm insults the govt they are quite. Now that hh’s own stupiidity has got him in hot waters they want dialog. What dialog? Let’s let the law take its course. The bishops are serving a certain interest.

    • Washala×2 the problem is you think the President is sacred and super human but we all know he is the reason we find ourselves in this position as a country because we have a bunch of kandilez like you that think he is a supreme leader and your flow of goody goodies must be uninterrupted regardless of chagwas hatered and personal vindatas against HH. nabamyabusha ulupato ba cadre.

    • Ba buuga – You have completely missed it. You are the people who are busy in South Africa cheering misguided mymoney into thinking he has a sway in Zambian political affairs.

  11. We already head that bishop mpundu is gbm’s relative. So its obvious which side they support, sweetened by some brown envelops

  12. Interesting development…will HH sacrifice the petition for freedom? If I were him I would go for freedom first. As for the petition we all know it will never see the light of day in a Zambian court especially if the evidence of rigging is too strong since petition =treason seems to be the formula here.

  13. @Rizzo: There is sense in what you have written: Let us all pray hard and allow the Bishops to speak to HH on the principles of God’s message of obedience which leads to salvation. Bishops are messengers of God and we trust that they are there to deliver message of understanding to be obedient to the authorities. God should open his mind to listen and obey what the Bishops will advice him: President Lungu well done for this gesture.

  14. As the bishops visit HH they should bear in mind that it is NOT the differences that divide us. It’s our judgement about each other that do. As evidenced from name callings, it is clear that the concentration is more on personalities than issues. Please go there with open ears, analyse and advise accordingly. There after us shall judge you.

    • All in all in Zambian politics differences are coming from tribal leanings, nothing else. As soon as we pass this tribe phase especially for upnd we will see meaningful political cohesion.

    • @16.1 Gantika, I TEND TO AGREE with YOU! I am even surprised that those who insult Bembas and Easterner have NOT INSULTED THESE BISHOPS who have predominantly Bemba and Eastern Names!!

  15. This is a very welcome move by Edgar Lungu and just hope UPND and HH should simply accept the past other than keep talking/fighting for something that will not help him achieve it since the powers that be has already declared him as republican PRESIDENT.The only thing he needs to do as a party as well as many other political parties is to ensure ECZ and MANAGEMENT including other stakeholders involved in elections are made to follow and conduct elections that should be accepted by all players. As for HH once released let him bury the differences currently existing between UPND/PFand concentrate on his programs to organise his party and mobilize many members as possible so that come 2021 it will be a walk over to state house since no situation on earth is permanent. We have PF in power today…

    • HH has messed up his Party and his region. The rest of the country is now very scared of power getting into the hands of one from this region because of the way HH has conducted himself and how his people from his stronghold have conducted themselves. It will be very difficult for this region to integrate itself into the country. Another Mazoka will be required.

    • Nick Dimms – How can only one region in the whole country have a voter turnout of 79% – and almost all for a candidate who emanates from the same region when the rest of the country is at 54%. Don’t you see something wrong with that?

    • @OneNation:
If you do your survey you will notice that people from HH’s regions you mean are ready to be seperated from other regions. You will be shicked to discover that they are eargerly waiting for you OneNation to tell them to seperate and it will happen.

  16. The real Bishops have spoken, Let him who has Ears listen.
Chumbu munshololwa will stop at nothing on he’s self destructive mission.
He’s trying to make up he’s lack of wisdom with accumulation of more personal power.

  17. This is the only route which can quicken HH’s release from Mukobeko.am sure today HH will have nice sleep because there is light at the end of the tunnel now.
Bravo to president Edgar Lungu for listening to Catholic bishops to have HH forgiven!!since we are Christians, its ok HH can be pardoned.am very sure that the more than 90 days HH has spent in jail have taught him a big lesson!!
    GOD BLESS ZAMBIA!!

    • There is no lesson……it is lungu who is being isolated……will lungu agree to freedom of assembly ?

  18. Lungu is useless, so are his supporters. Death to Lungu and the PF cadres, long live Zambia and its good people regardless of what tribal they are from. I am from Lungu’s tribe if that matters to y’all and I hate him for what he is doing to my country.

    • Nsimanadelele1 – Nonsense – what “I am from Lungu’s tribe”, nobody needs to know where you are from, if you want to stupid just be stupid.

  19. I TOO DO NOT THINK HE MEANT WHAT HE SAID. OBVIOUSLY THEY REMAINED LAUGHING WITH COLLEAGUES IMMEDIATELY THE BISHOPS LEFT.

HOWEVER, WHATEVER HAPPENS, TODAY I HAVE COME TO BELIEVE THAT THE ONLY TRUE CHURCH AND MEN OF GOD IS ROMAN CATHOLIC AND CATHOLIC BISHOPS.

AM A PENTECOST, BUT I FEEL AM LOST. MY BISHOP IMAKANDO AND HIS FRIENDS PUKUTA AND JOSHUA ARE CURRENTLY BUSY PUTTING EVIL CONDITIONS FOR DIALOGUE.

BREAD OF LIFE, BYE. CONTINUE WITH YOUR MONEY MAKING SCHEMES.

  20. Lungu can fool others ,we know the man in and out.His pre occupation is to remain at state house at all cost.He means well let him not set conditions HH said he is ready to dialogue face to face without any conditions. We shall hang our boots for now and see what happens. If lungu looses this opportunity I bait he will not see the next christmass.

    • @Lombe(MA) I USED TO THINK LIKE THAT AT ONE TIME, THAT LET ECL WIN CLEAN. BUT THAT CANNOT HAPPEN BECAUSE IMMEDIATELY HH KNOWS THAT HE IS LOSING, HE WILL START POLITICAL GYMNASTICS LIKE THE FOLLOWING.
      1. BRINGING UP FAKE VOTERS WHO ARE SAID TO VOTE 5 TIMES.
      2. CREATING SOME PAID UP CHARACTERS TO CLAIM THAT THEY WERE HIRED BY PRISCILLA ISAAC TO MANIPULATE VOTES.
      3.ETC
THIS IS CALLED POLITICAL MANIPULATION WHEN YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE LOSING.
IT SHOWS THAT HH IS NOT SINCERE, AND NOT HONEST.
THE SO CALLED DIALOGUE IS ILL FATED. YOU CANNOT EXPECT TO WIN AN ELECTION WITH 3.5 PROVINCES OUT OF 10. GRIEVANCES ARE ADDRESSED VIA THE CONCOURT IN 14 DAYS, IF YOU FAIL TO DO THAT, THEN BLAME YOURSELF. DONT WASTE PEOPLES TIME WITH A WHOLE LOAD OF PRELIMINARIES CONSUMING YOUR 14 DAYS.

  21. Thot Presido said he does not control the police, prisons and court but how did he manage to clear the Bishops to visit HH at mukobeko

    • @23 Chukubabe READ THE ARTICLE AGAIN and see: “Home Affairs Permanent Secretary Dr Chileshe Mulenga who attended the meeting said the Ministry will immediately facilitate the Bishops’ request” -Read “IMMEDIATELY”, he DIDN’T SAY he “will seek Lungu’s permission to allow the visit”

    • @23 Chikubabe, the Bishops have to deliver a message from EL to HH, not that they need permission from EL. You should also note that Catholics Bishops cannot just go and visit HH without informing the President, people might think they are bias.

  22. Edgar Lungu is up to no good in this whole arrangement. Why should it take the president’s consent for the Bishops to visit HH in prison? Did HH really deserve to be charged with treason? If so, why is Edgar Chagwa Lungu willing to reconcile with a treason suspect? Indeed why, because a sitting president reconciling with a treason suspect would have undue influence on the entire judiciary. I thought I heard Edgar Chagwa Lungu say the constitution has no provisions for him to pardon a person who has not yet been convicted. What reconciliation is Lungu seeking with HH? Lungu must tell Esau Chulu, Priscilla Isaacs, Chris Akufuna and the entire ECZ to reconcile the figures of the 2016 General elections and only then can he be accepted as a winner or loser. The condition of accepting him as a…

    • Where does this dullness by you people come from kansi? All local and international observers brought no issues but you, being the most intelligent people on earth have issues with your loss.

  23. If Roman Catholic Church Bishops visit HH
That would be a mistake. HH should not be visited because that is putting him on the equal footing with the president of the country.

That man is stubborn and lacks respect towards authority. No need of reconciliation because article 31 will do the job for us.

Mpundu is a traitor and other bishops should be careful not to follow blindly.

Its him who want to see HH not all bishops. Think guys.

    • I’m not sure about that but I respect your option. However, evil people burn things and sabotage economy of the country. We don’t need Bishops article 31 is sufficient. No reconciliation either too. Article 31 will do everything for us. Any body who support UPND and HH fipuba.

  24. HH, your family has suffered enough! Put your family first before politics. Just give it away and let people fend for themselves. Mwana akalila bonzo, mupaseni bonzo recog…kikikiki

  25. Gentlemen, I shudder to read the MAST online news of 14/07/17 in which our beloved Chief Mukuni was bragging and saying, ” In our traditional enthronement rites, I have slept at a graveyard for seven nights so what is Chimbokaila for me?” I feel for our chief because he must have done this out of ignorance and by so doing he has made himself a real enemy of God. I humbly advise our beloved chief to open his eyes and see Jesus Christ crucified on the cross for his salvation. May the good Lord God Almighty forgive him.

  26. “The President welcomed the Bishops’ overtures for dialogue, but insisted that such a dialogue should be premised on the opposition first accepting the outcome of the 2016 elections.”

We have always been stating that the issue with Lazy Lungu is recognition but thats one of the issues the party in question has not the tramped up charges. How do you make conditions before you meet.

    • You are also dull J J. If the opposition does not recognize the fact that there is a president of the country, then in what capacity should they dialogue?

    • @Kabu – You are indeed very shortsighted to see what is happening here…remember what was happening before the Komboka ceremony; most PF officials were alluding to the fact that HH will be fixed for not recognising Lazy Lungu. Not that I support UPND stance but the moment the recognise Lazy Lungu then the accept the results when they accept the results there is nothing to dialogue about. You will say releasing HH from prison this again is also and was part of the plan an added distraction like the burning of the City market.

  27. It appears people don’t know what they want. ..today they call for dialogue and release of HH but when this appears on the horizon they start using insults. If you love HH why don’t you take his place in prison so that he can go to his family? Give peace a chance.

  28. I salute you ECL. It can’t be better than that. It now remains with HH to see sense and move on regardless the outcome of the treason case.

    • What are you saluting ECL for? Bishops are pleading with him for dialogue but he is busy putting conditions. And normally people, especially the clergy should be free to visit those held in prison. Don’t you see we are in an abnormal situation to ask for special access to visit prisoners?

  29. Am Humbled by the new development
by President Edgar Lungu… It had to come this time. Every thing has time and God’s Time Is The Best.
This is the time by these Men Of God from ZCCB.
“HATS OFF TO PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU”

But this Mushota is walking on broken glasses bear footed.

I will request ZCTA and LT to tress this creature.. to answer charges relating to negativity in his articles that are liable to change positive thinking in readers…LETS BE SERIUOS IN OFFERING SOLUTION.

Am a graduate but this graduate MUSHOTA is rubbish could have gotten his degree from ungraded private university.

  30. Now whats this? Do you think that UPNDonkeys can see any sense in this? Donkeys are donkeys, Just watch.

  31. Upnd fo0ls such as NEZ,Spaka like lilo,Jay Jay,etc are enjoying life with their wives while HH is suffering alone in jail.so he must not listen to his evil followers.HH must simply accept 2016 results and move on,wait for another defeat in 2021.NO MATTER HOW UPND CRIES ABOUT 2016 ELECTIONS,NOTHING SHALL CHANGE AND ECL WILL REMAIN IN STATE HOUSE UNTIL WE VOTE AGAIN IN 2021.
So well meaning upnd followers must support the efforts made by catholic bishops.more than 90 days in jail is not a joke.moreover,HH is not fighting for anything but simply suffering in jail!FREEDOM FIGHTERS DID THEIR WORKS BEFORE 1964,SO HH WILL NEVER BE ONE!!

    • They are actually sad thinking that their leader may come out – and chances of insulting everybody else may diminish.

    • No is saying lungu will be removed but we must learn from past mistakes as a nation like violence and banning of freedom of assembly for the opposition.

There is nothing to talk about with the status quo. What is the use of accepting lungu then he uses full violence and curbs right of assembly for the opposition ?? Those sre things that must not happen again.
The PF green flies know lungu will live with those conditions…and HH will not give in with out change. Just charge him with treason.

  32. Ba upnd get this rit your leader is in prison and other pipo are busy fighting 4 him to the opposite you are busy insulting the one who holds the key to the relies of hh ,pipo be honest or maybe you are benefiting by his detention thats why ,remember hh said he wasnt thinking he can stay this long and you think its a joke

    • I think his supporters do not support his release – it has now become a business. As for him, Armageddon didn’t work, so he wants out as soon as possible.

    • Let the courts charge HH. he is not begging for lungu to release him , he knows he has done nothing treasonable.

    • Ba Pukuta Mwanza, Peter Ndhlovu, Peter Chandra, Rev Pule, etc. They are always in the media and we know what they say. Just pick up one flashback piece and you will know their stance.

  33. Reconcilliation is the perfect thing to do….I ALSO BELIEVE THIS WOULD BE EASIER if HH can publicly recognise ECL as Republican President and urge his followers to do the same…otherwise IT MAKES THINGS UNEASY TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT ACCEPT WHO YOU ARE WHEN THEY KNOW THEY WILL NOT CHANGE A THING UNTIL THE NEXT ELECTION WHEN THEY WOULD HAVE A CHANCE TO COMPETE AGAIN FOR THAT OFFICE IN CONTENTION

    • Not the other way round! It wld be easier for the one with instruments of power to ignore sentiments and not demand for recognition. Instead he should work exemplary well to earn the respect. Simple!

    • Jacob

“……ELECTION WHEN THEY WOULD HAVE A CHANCE TO COMPETE AGAIN…”

What is the use when during the next election we see the same abusers like using ministers and the whole GRZ to campain for lungu and violence against the opposition ????

  34. That is a condition Lungu is bringing before the bishops for dialogue and that is not what is expected. From his utterances, he shows that HH is prison for refusing to recognize him. What is the issue that has led HH not to recognize him? We know the problems but yet we want to run away from them. Lets deal with the underlying challenges that have led to the current impasse as part of the dialogue to heal the nation and not to put a condition for dialogue that is the root of the problem. Let us be genuine with the issues of dialogue. We need to go to the table each side with their grievances and agree at the table on how we move forward.

I hope their Holinesses the Bishops will not go to HH prison cell and tell him he should recognize Lungu before the dialogue because it will…

    • Baddo – It is not a question of choice for HH. He cannot come out of Prison thinking that he will be holding to ma rallies insulting the President and telling his supporters that there is no President in Zambia and that this or that week he will be installed as President. That nonsense is over otherwise he remains in Prison. Do not think that ECL is going to accept that nonsense. ECL has no grievances, remember. HH miscalculated and thought that when he is picked up Armageddon would breakout. Zambia has moved on.

  35. Mushota, you are right. Masters of negativity cant get it! If you lose an election, get out of the way and try another time. Sadly, with this behavior in him and his followers, no one can trust him nor his supporters. One thing for sure I know, Hazaluza Hagain.

  36. Lungu is feeling the pressure……him agreeing to let the bishops visit HH is a face saving measure…even if HH agrees to recognise lungu the basic conditions for that recognition will be too much for lungu…things that are normal in a normal democracy like freedom of peaceful assembly ….freedom for the opposition to meet.

Lungu can’t agree to those basic democratic rights of the opposition.

  37. You are trying hard to make things look really bad for ECL, but in the process you are putting too much cover for your beloved hh’s shortcomings. You are really blinded by his so called wealth! I urge you to work hard for your own family my brother.

    • He has already stocked up for his family, all he wants is to help you get of the quagmire you are in, if you don’t need his help please ignore him, no need for your African me, myself and family mentality, have a good weekend full of reflections on your useless post.

  38. Seventh Day Adventist ( SDA) president, pastors and the church at large, where are you? Those you label beasts the 666 are the voices of the oppressed fulfilling the command of Christ who said ” blessed are the peace makers..” I was in prison you visited me…. For SDA to day is Sabbath it is better to gather and sing ” Yaboola yaboola yaboola insabata yibootu” without taking the role of a caring church even to an extent of meeting republican president. Who will inherit the kingdom of heaven, is it preaching hatred or doing good to a brother or sister especially the oppressed? I think SDA we are a shame for failing to preach justice while we watch with our bibles on our hands those we think unchristian doing what God has commanded those who want to be true disciples.

    • They pray for sinners like you and stay away from taking holier ground and taking sides. These same Bishops you praising as heroes today, almost created chaos in the country a few weeks ago.

  39. The longer lungu keeps HH in prision the worse he looks like a dictator……soon the international community will talk.

HH is a man of principles, he will not beg lungu to release him when every one can see there is no treason.
Let the courts charge HH making a further mockery of lungus regime.

HH we stand with you in your sacrifice for a better zambia.

To all those who feel strongly about a free and democratic Zambia where future generations can be assured that the person they vote for wins if it is the majority, free from violence and intimidation , we can donate any little dollar to the UPND to help realise this dream.

  40. Peace be still.

    Viva UPND
    Viva HH.

  41. The bishops are wrong and the president is wrong. His the president the prison? ? The bishops are supposed to get permission from the prison authorities. The bishops are now telling us that we have two kinds of laws. One for the rich and one for the poor. The bishops are supposed to speak for the poor and oppressed. The judiciary must remain firm. Its só sad. There thousands Zambians languishing in jail and no one is speaking for them. Zâmbia has moved apeadero despite HH being in jail

    • Peace be still.

      Viva UPND.

  42. I slept over this and my conclusion is still the same- the matter at hand is to exorcise the Donkey from the underfive donkey and his UPNDonkeys. The Catholic bishops are well placed for that so UPNDonkeys and underfive must seize the opportunity to become Zambians again.
Telesphore has no choice because the Pope in Rome did not hide his displeasure at Telesphore’s donkey-like, unchristian, uncatholic behaviour last time.

  43. Lungu is in a very difficult and unconftable situation with his international standing droping by the day the longer he holds HH.

HH is a principled man and will not beg lungu to release him for something he has not done.

For lungu to release HH lungu wants recognition , then what will he give HH ??
If the kaponya PF green flies think HH wants to be released at all costs for some thing he has not done, think again. The courts will have to find him guilty.

Lungu will have to agree to drop violence and allow the opposition right of peacfull assembly and movement…….if you ask the green PF flies on this blog what is wrong with those conditions ??

    • @Spaka like a donkey: Who says President Lungu is going to release hh??? He has merely acknowledged the official concern of the catholic bishops (not what Telesphore tried to last time after receiving 30 shiny ones from GBM!). President Lungu will not abrogate the constitution and hijack the due process of the Judiciary of hh standing trial, NO!! hh is still going to remain in Mukobeko until the process of the law is exhausted. You think ECL’s international standing is dropping?? I don’t think so, I wouldn’t be worried about a few South Africans in the name of Irvine Jim (who is working with Fred M’membe’s friend Azwell Banda) or Greg Mills or Musa Maimane talking total rubbish while the AU has got my back!!!

  44. AWE BA LUNGU DON’T PUT WHAT HAS LEFT ZAMBIA(2016 ELECTIONS)DIVIDED AS A CONDITION. THIS IS THE PROBLEM YOU CANT FORCE ANY ONE RECOGNISE THE 2016 ELECTION OR YOU MR LUNGU AS PRESIDENT. THE FACT STILL REMAINS THAT THE 2016 POLLS WERE POOLY ORGANISED AND HANDLED. MR ESAU CHULU WAS A DISGRACE A LET DOWN. THAT IS WHY MRS IREEN MAMBILIMA USED TO BE VERY CAREFUL IN ORGANISING AND HANDLING ELECTIONS, BECAUSE SHE KNEW ZAMBIA WAS BIGGER THAN ONE PERSON. IF THAT IS YOUR CONDITION MR LUNGU THAT THE OPPOSITION MUST ACCEPT THE RESULTS OF 2016 ELECTIONS, THEN LET THERE BE NO RECONCILIATION. BA KATOLIKA BALEFWAYA UKUBWESHANYA. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT. IF YOU WANT THE OPPOSITION TO ACCEPT THE RESULTS LET THE PETITION BE HEARD. AND AS HH HAS APTLY PUT IT “I DONT NEED SYMPATHY BUT JUSTICE”.

    • @mr.sure: To hell with your s.t.u.pid and worthless threats!!! President Lungu is not fighting for recognition but the onus is on hh to respect the will of the people: THE MAJORITY REJECTED HIM AND ENDORSED EDGAR CHAGWA LUNGU!!! There was no fraud or rigging it was just what the majority wanted!!! I challenge you right now, on this blog, show the nation the evidence that was suppose to be presented to the ConCourt during the petition??? Show the nation upnd’s PVT???

  45. Its unfortunate we have a very dull president at Plot 1. He wants the dialogue to be premised on HH accepting the fraud outcome of the 2016 elections when he has denied HH of hearing his the petition.

  46. Guys always remember that these are UPNDonkeys, they are like zombies. Have you read anything consistent from Spaka for example? If underfive today praised President Lungu as a humble man with a christian heart, spaka and company will change their tune to suit. You will hear Spaka say that “…we need to work together with President Lungu to develop Zambia…”. Yes they will say “President Lungu”, you think I am kidding? just watch.

    • In your dreams PF green fly.

I do not support corruption and unbradeled violence and lawlessness exhibited by lungu and PF no matter who is in office.

      I stand by this.

  47. Supporters s forcing hh to recognise president lungu but that hh must realise that there is the government as at now to look after all affairs . His pursuit for presidency must not jeopardize the peace of the nation by way of defiantly blocking the road for the motorcade. That must sink into the heads of Upnd Supporters.

  48. @NUBIAN PRINCES U ARE A DEVIL IN HUMAN FRESH.YOU ARE ALWAYS ON THE WRONG SIDE OF REASONING.WELL MEANING PEOPLE OF THIS GREAT NATION ARE CALLING FOR DIALOGUE AND RECONCILLIATION AND YOU ARE BUSY POSTING YOUR HATE FOR HH.DONT YOU KNOW THAT IF THINGS CONTINUE ON THIS SAME PATH ZAMBIA WILL BE IN PROBLEMS.YOU BETTER WATCH WHAT YOU BLOG.WE NEED PEACE IN THIS COUNTRY.I HOPE YOU HAVE A HEART FOR THIS COUNTRY.THIS COUNTRY IS TERRIBLY DIVIDED AND *****S LIKE U ARE BUSY BLOGING TRUSH.WE REALLY WANT TO EXIST AS ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION.

  49. No one is forcing hh to recognise president lungu but that hh must realise that there is the government as at now to look after all affairs . His pursuit for presidency must not jeopardize the peace of the nation by way of defiantly blocking the road for the motorcade. That must sink into the heads of Upnd Supporters.

  50. Dialogue should be uconditional and only after HH is released from Jail unconditionally. These 14 Catholic Bishops cannot go to Mukobeko Prison and squat in HH’s Cell and talk about HH conceding defeat in the 2016 Election. If Lungu was genuine and sincere about Dialogue with HH he would have released him from Jail first and unconditionally. Lungu is just buying Time and hoping HH will surrender and recognise Lungu the Vote Thief and Law Breaker as a Legitimate President. HH wont do that. The Root cause of this Tension and Disharmony in Zambia is the Disputed and Petitioned 2016 Election. Lungu knows any Petition Hearing in an Independent and Impartial Court will convict him for Electoral Fraud. So Petition Hearing is a No go area for Lungu. The Church cannot mediate this Dispute. Lungu…

  51. Come 2021, we will teach you yet another lesson on democracy! You cannot go burning our markets, our only livelihood like headless chickens and expect me to vote for your satanic devil worshipping party.

    • Our markets, like your father owns one. Stop wasting time pointing your dirt fingers innocent people.

  52. There is nothing to reconcile. Lungu has committed so many atrocities – including the wanton incarceration of HH. He needs to be punished. Those bishops should have placed him across their knees and given him a right good walloping! Seriously, Lungu should not be allowed to continue with this hypocrisy. Evil on one hand and offering an ‘olive branch’ on the other.

  53. You pipo supporting hh your can let your friend loose life.you are rising his wings at last tries to fly same hight as with the president.where on earth?the president is under protection. He was lack pipo would have died on that same day.lets respect pipo in authority.late sata tod hh to be in pact he refused.this shows his selfishness
He will pay for it.you follows you are enjoying your slip comfortably in your homes but him..when victory comes even birds of air supports.no man can blok wat God has given.EGL is ready to work with oppositions but some opposition are arogant to the extent of COMPETING with head of state.you people whether you dont recognise the president LIMIT matters not to dat extent. If God realy said hh will rule dis nation he will rule bt let tribalism come out of our…

  54. We love our country.hooo.no war this is a blessed nation.we kno these silly comment they are coming and insighting zambians.tamwakatukwanishe.we are honding in the blood of JESUS.Arold you are a suspect if you are in zambia you should b deported to your country.shame upon you

  55. I Like this. Ba Father Mpundu, thats how it should be. Move along with your colleagues and not just shout from an ant-hill by youself like you did recently. I am sure we will not hear voices of dissent from Father Alick Banda et al because you all met before your trip to State House. And we do not expect you to come out of this meeting to write an open letter to President Lungu whom you met freely. It just does not make sense to operate that way. The ball it appears is now in HH’s court. We are watching!

  56. Power can be addicting. It is best to exercise caution when in power, and always remember that what goes up must come down. We have enjoyed peace in our small country; we have never had to run to someplace else because of war. Zambia has always been a place where people fleeing wars in their countries came to seek solace. That must stay the same regardless of who’s in power. Mr Lungu must let HH go, keeping him behind bars without a clearly defined reason amounts to dictatorship. I thank the Bishops for even trying when the judges have taken orders from Lungu lying down. We are a democracy and will continue to reap the fruit of those who came before Lungu, those who fought for independence. War knows no party, it affects everyone the same way. Peace does it!
