Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa Emmanuel Mwamba has called on South African companies to partner with Zambian firms.

Mr. Mwamba also urged foreign companies to take advantage of the country’s investment climate to invest in various sectors of the economy.

He said this during a trade and investment meeting in Lusaka.

Mr. Mwamba further noted that Zambia and South Africa have a trade imbalance.

He said there is need for Zambia to promote its goods in an effort to penetrate the South African market and the Southern African Development Community -SADC- region as a whole.

And ZDA acting director investments Moses Mwanakatwe said the country has continued to grow the Gross Domestic Product to 6 percent since 2005.

Mr. Mwanakatwe attributes that growth to government’s commitment to revising the policies and institutional reforms to attract investment.

He said the government has shown commitment to improving infrastructure to attract investment in various sectors of the country.

And Chief Director African Integration and Industrial Development Nigel Gwynne – Evans said the region is focusing on working with the private sector to improve integration in the region.

He said the region has shown political will in driving the agenda in the region and a substantial amount of funding is available to enable regional integration and improved trade.

  1. Trouble with these Ambassadors like Mwamba and the other man in Sweden what is his name?

They abrogate and abuse the powers they should be following when executing their mandate.

All they are doing is subtle campaigning.
As a result their statements should be received with mixed feeling and a pinch of salt

    Thanks

  2. My advice to any South African Companies reading this, if you want to partner with any Zambian companies please do not go to RSA embassy, avoid those crooks at the Embassy…go directly to ZDA in Lusaka, deal with crooks like Mwamba and the one in Sweden who writes and wastes paper printing Lazy Lungu’s books at your own peril.

  3. Too much democratic and political instability and uncertainty in zambia for any meaningfull investments……shopping malls will do for now.

    • Imagine a country where a Lazy President declares near state of emergence just to arrest mere arsonists that never existed in the first place….this is risky for any big company as the Lazy Bum can nationalize all their assets just like that!!

  4. Continue being negative,at least your friend has a salary. The way forward is partnership with those who have knowledge , experience and money whether you like him or not.The situation in rural zambia is so discouraging and frustrating because of lack of infrastature and resources. The rural people are still using traditional method of farming .Modern methods of farming should be encouraged at all levels of farming to maximise production.Once we as a country admit that we need help, that will be the begining of a better future for our grand children.
