The Head of State said this in Lusaka this morning when he witnessed the signing of the framework and loan agreement for the construction of 1,900 communication towers under Phase II which will cover 90 percent of Zambia.
Secretary to the Treasury Fredson Yamba signed on behalf of the Zambian Government, while Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Yang Youming signed on behalf of the Chinese Government.
President Lungu says over 2,000 jobs will be created in Phase II of the communication towers project.
The Head of State has also warned Huawei which is the main contractor against unfair competition and disadvantaging competitors.
And the President has emphasized that he is ambitious to return to power in 2021 because of his vision to transform and develop Zambia.
Speaking earlier, Transport and Communications Minister Brian Mushimba urged Huawei Technology to consider sub contracting local contractors during the implementation of the project.
Mr Mushimba says the project will help in bridging the gap between rural and urban areas in terms of ICT.
And Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Yang Youming has urged Huawei Technology to ensure that it completes the project within the stipulated timeframe in order to win the full confidence of the Zambian government.

Why was talking about 2021 again. In other words he saying they have enough money now to cover campaign. Why should thugs of Kaiser at State House be in charge of such a huge loan. But Zambians mwalipwalala.
No where in the story does it says ecl warns state house officials but this is the screening headline. Police can you move in these chaps for misleading us with fake news.
They should not even be able to recommend anyone in the first place ba President. Anyone making recommendation and use the name of the statehouse or works for the government for that matter should be prosecuted for abuse of power and conflit of intetrest. This is such a weak warning.

How do State House officials come into this matter? You mean that you award contracts from State House and not from the Line Ministry? Something is fundamentally wrong with your governance structure and governance modus operandi, , ECL!
Imagine a Shop Manager of WalMart warning employees of stealing…then you just know there is something wrong with that store, something is not just right somewhere!!

Quite revealing! It means he is aware of what has been going on but never took action. He only issues a warning when he sees a potential threat. Is someone at state house about to be fired? Anyway, it’s public knowledge that his house has been ransacking millions from contractors and that he is also a beneficiary. Let him also give an account on the Avic flats. Let him explain his source of wealth. Remember he chopped his salary by 50% but his wealth is skyrocketing. When a leader entertains corruption, even his servants will be corrupt. There is nothing hidden under the sun. They will give an account soon!
I question the semblance of our president. honestly what is a warning going change? Is it asking for too much to ask this individual to set aside? I mean really, the future Zambia is in peril under this guy. There are surely better ways of handling corruption than warnings and letting state house be involved in purely no executive issues. I don’t believe that Edgar got his law degree legally. His actions do not much what one would expect from a university graduate. Correct me if I’m wrong.
