Power Dynamos striker Alex Ngonga has been recalled for Zambia duty by Wedson Nyirenda.

Ngonga has jumped straight into Nyirenda’s final 20-member team named on Tuesday to face Bafana Bafana on August 12 away in a 2018 CHAN final round, first leg qualifier in East London.

The Power Dynamos strikers’ great form over the last month since his return the Kitwe club after two years away at Gabon champions CS Mounana has not gone unnoticed.

Ngonga has so far scored three goals in six appearances since rejoining Power in July.

Ngonga has been brought in to fill the void left by Brian Mwila who is ineligible for CHAN after moving to South Africa PSL club Platinum Stars from Green Buffaloes and had scored two goals in the qualifiers prior to his transfer on August 1.

CHAN is a second tier AFCON exclusively for domestic -based players.

Meanwhile, Zambia depart for South Africa this Thursday.

The final leg will be played on August 19 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola to decide who goes through to next year’s tournament in Kenya.

  1. Cletus Chama left out as well? You know I watched the game against Ethiopia at woodlands stadium, the team needs midfielders who can hold on to the ball, bring a system of play to the game which is completely missing in that team. The goal keeper can never start play from the defence for what ever reason only known to the coach. Wedson should change his tactics otherwise he will need to be replaced soonest if he doesn’t. strikers are there but what we need are midfielders, prolific and intelligent midfielders who can change the game than that chipate pate game, to whom it may concern game – surly at this time and age. We cant even think of world cup with such low standard of soccer under Wada.

  2. Zambia will win not because Nyirenda is a good coach but because Bafana Bafana has suffered a set back with 10 members of the chosen squared withdrawn by their clubs. That will not happen for Algeria hence my call for his resignation and the appointment of a foreign coach is in the best interest of Zambian football

  3. There are a lot of things that need to be changed in the way players are selected. Today Zambia has 20 teams in the premier league, if not 18 (you correct me on the number of teams). However, from my own observation the coach has always been selecting players from four to five clubs. There is need for the coach to be wide in his selection of players.
