Zambia on Saturday qualified for 2018 CHAN in Kenya after eliminating South Africa 4-2 on aggregate.
Coach Wedson Nyirenda’s Chipolopolo squad booked a place at next year’s CHAN after Saturday’s 2-0 win over Bafana Bafana at Levy
Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Nkwazi striker striker Justin Shonga scored the two late goals to send local fans in wild celebrations.
Shonga was on the score-sheet in the 79th and 82nd minutes.
It was a game in which dominant Zambia missed several chances in both halves.
Top striker Alex Ng’onga, winger Mike Katiba, forward Enerst Mbewe all missed nice opportunities before the two teams went to the break with a goal less draw.
Meanwhile, this is Zambia’s third CHAN qualification having participated at the inaugural edition in 2009 and the 2016 Rwanda
tournament.

All is wrong at football house…..Yes, chipolopolo boys beaten South Africa D national team coached by unknown under 20 coach…but that is not a cause for celebration. As a matter of fact, south africa D national team was a better team in the midfield, they controlled and commanded the play in the middle pack. Guys football is not a game that is always won with a cricket score. Zambia won the game against Bafanabafana. Whoever was in that Senong’s team was selected on merit and they play in the elite South African league(s). When Brazil played Zambia the final score was respectful. Did that mean Brazil is in the same class with Zambia? Certainly no. It is for this reason that sometimes coaches usuall say ‘we will plan for each when it comes’. Diffrent opponents are different challenges. South Africa is a challenge of its own to Zambia. It is not a similar challenge Zambia experience when they play Senegal . While Zambia find it easy to deal with Senegal it is not so with Bafana who always perceive Senegal as a threat.
I did not watch the game. but honestly speaking, whatever team the south African coach featured in today`s game, is their top notch. They wanted by all means to win that game not only in order to advance but to insulate off some of the heat building dangerously around their new coach . They are so bitter as a result that no mention of that game is made on all their major TV news broadcasters. For me , its a loud well done Zambia ! I have never seen a country with so strong an inferior complex like South Africa.
I agree , a win is a win! it was a national team against a national team. If any team has selection problems, it is not the opposition teams problem. What South Africa gave is all they could. Even Zambia could have wished to beef up the team, but they had to do with what they had

I watched the game and honestly speaking that can’t be callled the national team….never watched such a boring game before. U -17 would have massacred the South African team. Anyway it is a CHAN team.
Zambians let’s learn to appreciate and give credit where it is due. When something is good don’t critisise just give credit. Let Algeria come! With them it will be warse because our coach has a variety of players to field in. Mind you each game is taken differently. Algeria will be training and making strategies on how to mark shonga they will surprised the whole front line will be different. Will bring in the swift cretus Chama, tough fwayo tembo.
