President Edgar Lungu has challenged critics of his administration to contest the 2021 General Elections.

Speaking before departure for Botswana, President Lungu added that his presence at that country’s independence celebrations, will enhance relations between the two countries.

He stated that it is important for Zambia to co-exist with countries in the region and beyond.

And President Lungu said the bridge being build between Zambia and Botswana will translate into a number of economic benefits for the country.

The presidential aircraft took off at about 15:21 hours from Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.

The Head of State was seen off by the Vice President, Inonge Wina, Patriotic Front Secretary General, Davies Mwila, service Chiefs and party officials.

President Lungu is expected back in the country on Saturday.

  1. Lungu we know you are being forced to travel so as to try to account for the money you are stealing……..we know you want to try to say this money was from my travel allowances.. …..it will not work, you will be unmasked

    • Jonathan sure you are not even embarrassed by your antics?

Why have you put this beautiful country into so much debt? You do not care as long as your family and cadre ministers are well taken care of. Now the problem is that even the cadres on the streets are starting to see that you are selfish and looting.

No amount of rigging will save you this time. Rupiah rigged and still lost to Sata. The ghost of Sata will hound you coz you have let everyone down.

    • What a lazy sack of manure. I don’t remember any foreign president gracing our independence celebrations.
Sure-sure, Jona has now even started traveling for independence celebrations. Africa has 53 countries. It means he’ll travel to:-
      – 53 inaugurations
      – 53 independence celebrations
      – 53 trade fairs
      – presidential funerals
      – Traditional ceremonies
      – UN conventions
      – AU conventions
      – SADC Heads of state conventions
      – Comesa Heads of state conventions
      – 3 day State visits
What time does this lazy bumz have to govern the country?

    • Last week I was angry when one blogger commented Ati: “Jona only visits zambia to change bambaz & oversee his tenders”. But now I agree with him 100%.

    • Our Independence Day is next month, let’s see how many will come. He’s been to quite a few already this year. We’ll find out soon or later how many will return the courtesy. Infact, other than old Bob I can’t remember seeing another Head of State at his inaugulation last year.

    • ECLs October Schedule (Stolen)
      African Independence days in October
      October 1st Nigeria
      October 2nd Guinea
      October 4th Lesotho
      October 9th Uganda
      October 12th Eq Guinea
      October 24th Zambia

Just to help you sir. But please remember to visit Zambia on the 24th

  2. Now every one knows why you travel so much Mr lungu, only to try to account for stolen money to try to cover the money you are stealing………we have read you.

  3. What legacy is this fool going to leave us: this is a waste of time people he has been in 4 countries in just 3 weeks…golden brown teeth….with shine shoes.

  4. Awe Chachilamo……..ukuibwelamo kwawama. Can someone sit down and work please. Activities and working are not the same

  5. This is just too much. A very stark reminder of the beginning of the end of Rupiah Banda’s rule. I vote PF but am now convinced, there is again need for change of leadership in 2021.

  6. Huge number of gov’t officials at KKIA and a horde of idle civilians yet again .At this rate why won’t we all turn into a nation of underperformers?

  7. Eish ,at this fast clip of presidential travel the challenger aircraft is getting tired and aging faster. Our national treasury is also emptying fast.

  8. One day trips are always being turned into overnite if not overnites trips to make money eeh! It’s too much, it iiis too much some one must be told to sit and work please. Now I agree abwela cabe kuchinja vovala.

  9. President Edgar Lungu,am PF and PF is in my heart but this is too much.you are traveling a lot just like what RB used to do before 2011.reduce on these foreign trips as you cant continue like this.one or two days in Zambia,on a third day,you are abroad,NO THIS IS TOO MUCH!!
BUT BY SAYING THIS,AM NOT IN ANYWAY TRYING TO SHOW THAT IN 2021 I WILL VOTE FOR HH OR ANY OPPOSITION PARTY,NO IT WILL BE PF NAFUTI NAFUTI!!!
just this evening, i will call Hon.Davis Mwila and other ministers so that they can talk to ECL to reduce on his foreign trips!!
As for Kainde and many others, indeed just wait for 2021-period!!!

    • Hehehehe

Even the kaponya rats are waking up….eehh njimbu ? I thought you were the one jumping and singing last week that it is lungus right to travel ?

    • @10, see why those of us with too much “common sense” are infuriated with your PF administration. We are neither MMD, nor UPND.
We just want the systematic routing of resources to stop.
Zambia can’t afford all these excessive, unjustified trips.

    • Whether people like it or not, Egdar Lungu cannot win the 2021 elections. The division within PF and Edgar Lungu’s lack of seriousness on matters of reducing spending on himself and combating corruption will cost the PF the 2021 election. A change of leadership at the top by replacing Edgar Lungu with a more serious leader might save the PF in 2021. The writing is clearly on the wall that the Kambwili faction which is seriously working underground and forming structures will divide the party so much that it will guarantee HH and the UPND outright victory. Remember, the UPND has not lost ground in its strongholds. It is PF losing ground in its stronghold at a fast pace. Edgar Lungu will only ignore this at his own peril. There is a lot of anger with him in PF.

  10. Njimbu keep your foolish vote to yourself in 2021. The electorate whose votes you hired Chavula to steal will still vote and more!! Loleleni naba pompwe benu. Insoni shaliwama

  11. @ 10, Njimbu I like your honest views ,but I must add that countries like Botswana , Angola , Namibia are our best neighbours , and its just imperative that when they have National events our president himself should personally offer them support on our behalf , Its a wave of coincident calls and am sure they die down and he will soon stay at home. But yes , we need him home to focus on what we need most now-development

    • The only time this Lungu will spend more that a few days in Zambia is when he has to be here to organise another stolen election!

Until then, it is party, travel, spend, the more the merrier! Even his wife is doing it now!

    • Exactly, many Zambians are hosted by Botswana yet again many Zambian families earn living via trade With Botswana… in international relations Bots is one of our best friends which is actually strategically located within close proximity, it wouldn’t make any sense for us not to grace an important day on their calendar… did we want Kenya Or Nigeria President to go their and do the onus??? No it’s our brotherly duty.

  12. It’s too costly to keep a plane on the ground imwe ba UPND. A plane’s place is in the air. Just in case you doubt it ask Trump.

  13. “President Lungu added that his presence at that country’s independence celebrations will enhance relations between the two countries.“

What’s wrong with saying I’m going there to represent Zambian people?

Mr. President when you go or when you visit another country their welcoming you is because they think you’re representing the Zambian people, please recognize the people of Zambia who flip the bill.

  14. Frequent fly miles…Imwe the president is justified to be flying all the time. The other countries are much more developed than this rat hole of place where he hails from. What is there in Zambia to enjoy? Kambwili is constantly making noise, the commonwealth want him to dialogue with HH, burning markets, pot holed roads, water supply disruptions, disgruntled civil servants, it’s problems and trouble everywhere.

  15. Jonathan needs a mental evaluation for sure, these tours are getting out of hand for a very broke country like Zambia.
He needs to sit down and conserve our resources.

  16. If there’s anyone from another country besides Zambia reading this, please, twapapata help us by telling your leaders to stop inviting this guy. He’s driving our country broke. Please mwebantu.

  17. Sleep over with his besties !! Its what kids do when they don’t want to be left out on some fun. He doesn’t care about zambia’s domestic affairs, does he know that clarity begins at home ?

  18. WHO TOLD YOU THAT ZAMBIA IS BROKE ITS YOU WHO S BROKE NOT ZAMBIA. FOREIGNERS ARE MAKING MONEY IN A COUNTRY WHICH IS BROKE JUST WAKE UP LEAVE POLITICS TO POLITICIANS AND START DOING SOMETHING JEALOUSE WILL NOT TAKE YOU ANYWHERE

    • To a certain degree you have a point Kopola, but even though Zambia may have resources we must not neglect accountability and transparency in the distribution of our Nation’s wealth… which currently are being misapplied, especially, in view of many critical areas of national life that are lacking funding i.e. UTH, Schools, better wages, electricity, investment in agriculture etc etc..

Our picture isn’t as rosy as you paint it good Sir!

  19. President of foreign Affairs. The late President Micheal Sata left was also President of Zambia with the same neighboring countries. He knew what fiscal discipline was. Because we have a President of Foreign Affairs, it explains why it is foreigners who are enjoying Zambia.

  20. Do the Presidents of our neighbouring counties attend our Independence celebrations themselves or do they send representatives? What is new which was not accomplished by the previous Presidents?

    • The President of RSA, your host country, was in Zambia not long ago.. countries in Sadc have immediate and bearing economic benefit to Zambia, it only stands to reason that we must take every reasonable step and opportunity to solidify our ties, which is what such visits can for us.

    • Tax payer money belongs to Teliya Kumwenda, essentially, Teliya has directly / indirectly sponsored that trip and the rest………

  21. On this one, I do agree that our President travels excessively, however, going along to Botswana so that the Republic of Zambia officiates at That Country’s important day i.e. “Independence Day” is actually a very productive endeavour because this further solidifies the economic, political, social and trade ties between the two countries which will potentially bring future and immediate benefits to our country. This is part and parcel of his role, but obviously after this journey he must stay home. And for future reference if it doesn’t already exist, a presidential travelling and engagements schedule must be made available for public scrutiny.

  22. tavelling all the time and bringing nothing to the development of the nation makes no sense at all. gallivanting for the sake is uncalled for. we are the tax payers and we feel the pinch. REMEMBER VASCO DE BANDA. HE SPENT MOST OF THE TIME GLOBETROTTING. TYPICAL OF EASTERNERS. i am not a tribalist but this is one thing i have come to know.
