Chipolopolo striker Brian Mwila of South African side Platinum Stars has been ruled out of next Saturday’s Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria due to injury.
Mwila scored a brace in the 3-1 win over Algeria at Heroes Stadium on September 2 where he sustained the same injury.
Team Doctor George Magwende has told Fazfootball.com that Belgium based Emmanuel Banda had also been ruled out due to injury.
“Brian (Mwila) will not be part of the team as he had a recurrence of the injury he suffered during the Algeria game. It is best to give him time to fully recover,” he said.
Coach Wedson Nyirenda has since replaced Mwila and Banda with Power Dynamos forward Alex Ng’onga and Zesco United’s John Ching’andu.
Chipolopolo leaves for Accra, Ghana on Sunday where they will set up base ahead of their encounter against Nigeria in Uyo.
