Four Ndola City Council employees have been arrested for leading a protest over non-payment of salaries.

Ndola district Mayor Amon Chisenga said the four had been identified as the ones that ignited the protests, and prevented other employees from going inside the council premises.

He added that the suspects had not been charged, but were taken in for questioning, to help with investigations and also establish the motive behind locking up the entrance to the council.

Mr Chisenga named the employees as Nalcom Mupimpila a senior systems analyst, Warren Sinyangwe a clerical officer, Bright Sinkala a driver, and Boyd Sachikwata council police constable.

  1. BUT, THEY MUST BE PAID- HOW DO YOU THINK THEY ARE GOING TO LOOK AFTER THEIR FAMILIES. CITY COUNCILS SHOULD BE MAKING MONEY IF THEY ARE HEADED BY THINKING CIVIC LEADERS AND BE ABLE TO PAY THEIR WORKERS. IF THEY ARE NOT IT MEANS THE CIVIC LEADERS OF SUCH PARTICULAR COUNCILS ARE VERY DULL AND NOT FIT TO LEAD COUNCILS. HOW CAN NDOLA CITY COUNCIL NOT IMPLIMENT PROJECTS JUST GENERATE FUNDS OF ALL THE COUNCILS? ARE THE CIVIC LEADER NOT PAYING THEMSELVES? IF THEY ARE, WHERE ARE THEY FINDING THE MONEY TO PAY THEMSELVES AND NOT THE WORKERS WHO DO THE WORK?

  2. why blocking them, pay them money is being wasted in poor planning government procurement and roads, which stands to be their money (tax payers money). let them protest and leave them alone.
