Kabwe Municipal Council (KMC) has received ten garbage bins valued at nearly K8,000.00 for garbage collection as the local authority bids for city status.

ZANIS reports that Kabwe Mayor, Prince Chileshe, who received the donation from Mobile City said the gesture will help the local authority keep the town clean and healthy.

Mayor Chileshe, said the local authority is willing to partner with the private sector in keeping Kabwe town clean and healthy.

“Our desire to attain city status is receiving a lot of support from the private sector like Mobile City. This will help us keep our town clean,” he said.

Mr Chileshe urged Kabwe residents to develop a sense of responsibility and avoid littering.

The mayor further urged other companies to emulate the gesture from Mobile City.

Mobile City Suppliers Regional Marketing Manager, David Mutumwenu, said his company is committed to supporting Kabwe Municipal Council to keep the streets clean.

He said Mobile City has a robust Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme which will see the company render support to other sectors of Kabwe’s economy.

Mr Mutumwenu added that his firm is committed to contribute to the growth of Kabwe’s economy by creating job opportunities for the local people.

“We are very committed to ensuring we plough back to the people of Kabwe for the support they have shown to our business,” he said.

  1. I actually think the price is fair here. I assume it’s the big ones not little bins for an individual household. K8000 total for 10 comes to k800 each that doesn’t sound too bad.

  2. Zambian journalism! the story is about mobile city and garbage bins but they put a picture of people celebrating independence. Where are the bins and david mutumwenu’s pictures?
