Nigeria end Zambia’s 2018 dreams

Share

For a second successive 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier ,Nigeria came off tops against Zambia.

Nigeria beat Zambia 1-0 on Saturday in a gritty penultimate Group B clash in Uyo to end any hopes of a determined Chipolopolo reach to the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.

This result came after the Super Eagles had earlier beaten Zambia 2-1 in the two sides opening Group B qualifiers on October 9 2016 in Ndola.

Alex Iwobi scored the winning goal in the 82nd minute after replacing Victor Moses just before the hour mark.

However, this came after Zambia had played the better football with Alex Ngonga denied twice in the first half by Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

Augustine Mulenga even the ball in the back of the net in the 52nd minute but his effort was mysterious out for offside..

Nigeria qualify with an unassailable 13 points with a match to spare.

  1. Damn ,those Nigerian internet scammers must have used some cheating methods.Nigerians could never have qualified for Russia 2018 cleanly.

    • I saw a lot of pf cadres in that supporters entourage, and what was that political banner for, you mean you wanted someone to be recognized by Nigerians?

    • Didn’t even realise that Zambia have internet connection ? Where is Zambia again on the map ? I’m sure the population is not up to a single town in Nigeria.. and I heard that Chinese are in charge of the country .. bloody losers!

    • How can Zambia win when you have supporters carrying flags bearing a YELLOW colour?

But all in all, it was a match that lived up to its vibe and as Zambia we gave a very good account of ourselves. Sadly, the referee was clearly biased against us. The truth is that we messed up our campaign foe WC2018 in Ndola when Nigeria beat us at home. Other than the rot from the is the Botswana referee, this is the first time that a Chipolopolo loss hasn’t angered me…

    • Now, can anyone help me understand why the Zambian soccer commentators on Supersport seem shy or scared to known to be supporting Chipolopolo- even when their counterparts are so clear about wanting their teams to win ???

    • How can that be possible, you better tell your people the truth and stop telling white lies, your team was beaten out and flat and Nigeria is in the World Cup

    • @1.4 Wenu …. it has angered me so much losing to a Team full of fluffers and hoopers from the English Premier league is so painful at least if those players came Seria A, LALIGA, BUNDASLIGA not EPL. It WILL TAKE ENGLAND ITSELF 200YRS FROM NOW TO WIN THE WORLD CUP, WHAT MORE FOREIGN PLAYERS.

Just see how coaches from top EPL clubs sweat and pant in UEFA Champions league when paired with likes of BARCELONA, BAYERN, MADRID. JUVENTUS, PSG

    • I blame the PF government, they used all energies discussing corruption allegations. Forgetting that Nigeria, the world best thieves were offering $10,000 to each player just to beat Zambia.
      2021.

    • @Wanu ngwee. You don’t do the wrong things because others are doing them. A journalist is not supposed to take sides because he WOnt be telling the true story if he is biased against or for. The commentator must be professional

    • You’re right my brother, but the young man was concentrating more on what Nigeria needed to do to win the match, and therefore in the same vein of the fairness you talk about, I still found him wanting

    • @Daniel, kindly understand that those who know where Zambia is know it for the right reasons- of its decent, honest, educated people you can live, work and do business with.

  2. Hard luck lads!!you played very well boys and keep it up the hard work.
Many thanks to president Edgar Lungu for the outstanding support his PF Govnt has been rendering to Chipolopol boys since 2011,am sure that is why during PF’s rule the Chipolopolo boys have managed to win AFcon cup in 2012 and CAF U20 cup in 2017.it was nice seeing a huge Zambian soccer fans presence in that stadium in Uyo City a thing which was made possible by PF Govnt!!!
Too bad that we lost due to poor officiating by that swana referee.we scored a clear goal but as usual evil Botswana referee disallowed a real goal!!!
BUT WELL DONE BOYS!!ATLEAST TODAY WE HAVE MADE OUR DAY AS WE ARE TIRED OF HEARING CORRUPTION NONSENSE FROM EVIL KAMBWILI AND HH!!TODAY ALL ZAMBIANS ARE ONLY TALKING ABOUT FOOTBALL-GOOD INDEED!

    • @Njimbu,No sir, you never scored any clear goal. Your player deliberately continued playing when referee had long blown the whistle and the opposing team players were just running after him to play safe. Please let’s remove sentiments and face the facts. Zambia played well no doubt about it, but they ran out of ideas when it mattered most. It’s a good team but it’s a future team. It goes to show you don’t win by so much noise in the media. You score clean and clear goals. That certainly was no goal as the referee blew the whistle well ahead before the player even attempted scoring !!!.

    • Why blame the referee. Your anger should be directed at the linesman who by the way made the right call. I know it’s tough when you lose a game of this importance. The Zambian players gave a good account of themselves. The future looks bright if they continue with this level of progression. Better lick next time.

    • For crying out loud, your team did not score any “clear goal.” In fact, the Zambian player who “scored” that “goal” was lucky not to have been booked for indiscipline. The referee whistle had gone, yet he was still playing and eventually struck the ball into the net. Zambia gave a good account of themselves but it wasn’t their day. That is football and that is the way the cookie crumbles. If you ask me, I think Zambia approached the match negatively with so much talking and boasting prior to the match. Your hard talk scared the wits out of Nigeria and we had to double our preparation and be more cautions. Next time, talk less and do more. Nigeria is a country that is prone to overconfidence. If Zambia had not made any noise and sneaked in like underdogs, Nigeria in our usual…

  3. @Njimbu, what kind of match did you watch? was that a clear goal?
    I don’t see your players complaining…
    Better team won.
Do you check the attempt on goals at all?.
    That’s what will call class.
super eagles are way ahead of your team.
That is what we called game management.
please make sure you watch more of European football clubs.you will get it better.
wish next time that you are not pair with Nigeria again

    • I am Nigeria… I was totally scared of Zambia before the match because I liked what I had seen of the young team during the qualifiers (and I watched every game of theirs shown on TV). I think Zambia lost their chance by giving Nigeria too much respect in the first 45 minutes of that first match (In Zambia). Once they came out to play, we ended up having to hang on for the 2-1 victory. After their excellent result against Cameroun in Yaounde and Algeria at home, I knew they were the real deal and that they would be our toughest foes. Their running strength and tough tackling was certainly going to lead to a formidable match. Now regarding the game itself, I think the offside call was totally correct (and I have frozen the picture to confirm this), people don’t make allowances for the…

    • Also at Shonga.. Learning from others who might be better than you is not inferiority complex… I can assure you that there are few more confident people in this world than Nigerians and certainly no Africans. If anything, my beef with my fellow countrymen is we are too confident to the point of a natural arrogance and I honestly don’t think we have enough to back it up. But at least we look forward and do not act like whipped dogs.

    • No, no need to fire them, all they need is more support, building a national team is a long term project, so far the work that our current technical team is doing is quite good, we need patience, and to support them.

  4. @Njimbu
Why bring in politics.A win or Loss has nothing to do with PF or ECL.

It seems you want to distract the masses from the $42 million Fire Tender Scandal,$1.2billion dual carriage way scandal, corruption and money laundering revelations by CK.
    LOL

  5. Hard luck to our boys. You gave all you could but this world is run by shadow governments and the elite. If we had won today the Nigerians would have used all means possible (match fixing included) to beat Algeria. It’s a money game at the end of the day as confirmed by Herve Renard when he told CAF that you could not allow Zambia to go to the world cup coz Zambia is not sexy. Sorry if I’ve offended someone.

    • @Flagrate Delicto, you never won. You score clean and clear goals that’s what football is all about. That certainly was no goal as the referee blew the whistle well ahead before the player even attempted scoring !!!. Coming to match fixing, you may go further to allege that Nigeria was involved in fixing the match in Ndola with your player and the referee for Zambia to have lost. If I recall…

    • What’s funny is that a month ago you guys were at the pinnacle of excitement over your home and away wins against Algeria. All of a sudden you are having a difficult time accepting a defeat from the hands of a better, more seasoned team. I know your hearts are broken but there will always be a next time. The score should have been worse the the final score had Nigeria taken advantage of their scoring chances. The Nigerian goalkeeper barely had much to do during the entirety of the game except for one or two occasions. The Nigerian team was clearly more experienced and it showed at the end. Good luck to Chipolopolo next time. Proudly Nigetian!!@

    • What do you have to say about Nigeria beating your team in it’s backyard 2-1 before today’s win. Don’t be a sore loser. The final score line should have been worse than the 1-0 if Nigeria had capitalized on the numerous scoring opportunities they created. The better team won. Zambia has a good team and the future is very promising if the keep working hard. Be gracious in defeat.

  6. @flagrante, stop whining.better team won.
I can’t believe that you guys close your eyes to the fact that better team qualified.
you win some , you lose some.

    • @ayo, I think the better team lost. I also stand by the fact that money rules the world. I respect your opinion.

  7. @Davide & Rule;yes it was ECL who made it possible for a lot of soccer fans to travel to Uyo to support Chipolopolo.we are here and enjoyed.am sure you saw Mr Kennedy Kamba,Mr.Longwe and many known PF cadres on TV ka?those are some of the benefits of supporting a party in power!!!THEY SAY IF YOU CANT BEAT THEM,JOIN THEM!!your upnd has been in opposition since 1998,how many years have you suffered in opposition?in 2021 upnd will have spent 23 yrs in opposition,in 2026 you guys will be 28yrs old in the world of dreams (opposition) kikikikiki!!!
BACK TO THE ISSUE AT HAND,WELL DONE CHIPOLOPOLO BOYS!!ITS ONLY THE REFEREE WHO KILLED US.ALL IN THE STADIUM WERE QUIET UNTIL IWOBE SCORED THAT GOAL.NIGERIANS HERE HAVE REALLY APPRECIATED CHIPOLOPOLO AS A VERY GOOD TEAM!!

    • Stop taking politics to foreign countries on sports mission. You are just showing your mediocrity in thinking in the same way you stole money for fire tenders.

    • Echo mwalushile kayombo and kamba ati soccer fans, immediately i saw those poli ticks i stopped supporting team. Now you saw what happened to Zambia immediately i withdraw my support, bang Nigeria was on top, just concentrate on fire tenders, am told you promised the Zambian players fire tenders.

  8. It is well known all over the world that Nigerians are internet scammers ,well known as Asian drug pushers and they practice juju black magic.Russians should be very careful.

    • @ MZAMBIA, Shut up and talk intelligently. Stop disgracing Africans with the way you reason. We defeated you at home and away. Respect us for that and stop giving untenable reasons for your frustrations. Your coach was busy boasting instead of preparing his Team well. He said he wanted to disgrace Nigeria and we wondered how a local man would disgrace a Country of about 200m people. We have always done well for Africa winning olympic gold, silver and bronze in football , won under 17 thrice and got to the under 20 world cup final game twice. Professor Wole soyinka , a Nigerian is a nobel laureate in literature . We warned you people when you were boasting that you would not defeat us. You defeated Algeria and felt you could defeat us. Those of you calling Nigerians names are just jealous…

    • @Nijaboy shut up and stop acting hollier than thou. You Nigerians denigrate and belittle other Africans on a daily basis on Nairaland forums so its only right you get a taste of what you dish out everyday.Fvcken loudmouth stinky Nigerians .

    • You are definitely frustrated and you need help. Zambia has been bundled out of the World Cup qualifier and the earlier you accept that , the better. You don’t represent AFRICA at senior World Cup by merely defeating Algeria and boasting. Mark it, even Cameroon will defeat you at home. Your legend, Kalusha has congratulated us without talking the way you have been talking. You have been defeated. Manage your frustrations and stop talking about extraneous issues that are not connected to football.

    • Nijaboy a nation of 200 million people should have more achievements than that. In all spheres of life not only in football
Its a mark of your frustrations that you are now hanging around a foe you’ve defeated to brag about little achievements
Suppose I remind you that you also have the accolade of being corrupt? That all the streets of South Africa have Nigerian drug peddlers?

    • @Mzambia On Nigerians belittling other African countries, i totally disagree with you, what will you say about South Africans not belittle but Killed other Africans @Naijaboy is right, this is football discussion and dont bring in discuss that does not glorify the beautiful game. Your guys were push to play long ball which they could not create chances with, Eagles were better on the night, absorb Zambians pressure and got them on the counter with their skills. It will take Zambia years to meet up with Nigeria achievement in sport. Give it to them @Mzambia and be fair in your analysis bro.

    • @Jay Jay Okocha fan.Football achievements are not based on population , if it was china and India would have won. Get that into your myopic mind. You seem to know drug hideouts by association and consumption. Please stop consuming drugs and manage your frustrations well. Just before yesterday, most of you were here boasting and now that reality has now dawned on you, you are heart broken. Football matches are not won by bragging and dribbling. You must score goals. Talking about crimes, do you read your newspapers at all? Crime ,corruption, brutality is everywhere in Zambia but that does not mean all Zambians are criminals. Frustrated people like you would always resort to name calling to justify your failures .

    • Nijaboy you can’t handle what you started. You boasted about population and everything but when reminded of your infamy you blow a fuse. Here in SA I don’t have to be a drug consumer to see your compatriots. They are all over the streetcorners selling to everyone. Just watch your big mouth

    • @ okocha fan.Eybody is talking and a frustrated , jobless South African is talking. Please check crime rat in SA before you talk. What has SA achieved in football? If I had known I was responding toa South African or a Zambian based in SA, I would have kept quiet. No need for a response.

    • What a stupid comments . Don’t compare zambia with nigeria there’s difference between a Rat and Rabbit . NeXT time you pray you are not in the same group with nigeria

    • I really dislike name calling especially among African brothers… If Nigerian are criminals, catch them and prosecute them… period. It’s funny how people focus on the criminals and not on the fact that Nigerians have the highest rate of Post graduate education, the most number of doctors, scientists etc. The fact that the England team that just won the last U20 WC had 6 ethnic Nigerians and so on … Yes our country has been hamstrung by political/cultural ills which means we have not achieved our true potential but we are headed there… But I look at Zambians and Southern Africans in general as brothers.. Lord knows we spent a lot of our commonwealth supporting the independence and other movements…. so why the angst.

By the way, even if our criminals are in SA, I wonder why…

  9. Zambia should just pray not to pair with Nigeria in future. Zambia can never beat Nigeria in any competitive match. Nigeria is going to Algeria with Super Eagles B to disgrace Algeria right in presence of their fans while Cameroon will come there to beat Zambia. Zambia can not never come second. 3rd is your position. You are too arrogant.

  10. Comment:sorry for d poor lads gtom Zambia as they were taught lessons by d Eagles to stop playing on d pages of newspaper they arr inferior to Eagles .The scoreline only flatter them

  11. Congratulations to all Nigerians
    Congratulations Zambia a good match.
We are all one from the same God.
Our God wants us to stop fighting each other
    and love another.
    Loveisthegreatestfestival#
    Loveisourreligion#

  12. Super eagles did not joke with w/cup qualify but when it nations cup qualify some of our best players don’t use to come, that’s where any team can eliminate us but if it is w/c qualify we take it serious

  13. Comment:don’t compare Zambia to EPl ,if ur team hs lost just understand,if u mention real Barcelona juvetus then u don’t kno football,in a normal class u expect competition now leagues were all da best players are shared in one clud or three clubs do u call dat competition ,learn to analyse soccer nt just be whistling my dear

  14. ZAMBIA.. I am surprised they said they were d better team or was i watching the back of my TV? They started out like a team that came to look for a DRAW and were all defensive minded. They already knew they had nothing to lose as they were already disadvantaged (2nd place), so they were only waiting for a slip up from the eagles to captialize and this was wat they did very well until IWOBI’s goal came. The earlier you understand that ZAMBIA does not have a SENIOR national team, the better for you. You dont just field inexperienced u20 players overnight on the senior team and expect them to defeat everybody (I guess they over celebrated their Victory over a toothless algerian side). I dont even see them defeating CAMEROON. As a matter of fact, I see them finishing at 3rd place behing…

  15. Emotions aside ,clearly the better team won.Even by comparing decades of int’l performances and stats Nigeria clearly stands out as having better experience than chipolopolo.Lets not kid ourselves Zambia -we’re still toddlers in football while Naija is a teenager.

  16. Games like that need experienced players you can not drop almost all the experienced players and replace them new ones. You blend them not just dropping them for your own reasons. Don’t be prejudiced give give the older players a chance and slowly phase them out. That was a competitive game that needed the help of the seniors.. players straight from dynamos or Zanaco with no exposure.. the won the last game but I still insist that every game is different… No player is indispensable but please don’t just snub players because you have that power…be humble.

    • Very true Kayla, you can see from the goal that was disallowed if you really needed it to stand the whole team shouldn’t have kept quiet. These are games that you insist on the decisions as well and lack of experience was seen in that disallowed goal.

  17. THE NIGERIANS HAVE INVADED THIS WEBSITE IN THE SAME WAY THEIR FILMS HAVE INVADED ZAMBIAN HOMES. STOP COMPLAINING ZAMBIAN FRIENDS, THE FACT THAT WE WERE BEATEN AT HOME WAS ENOUGH REASON TO WORRY.
THE ONLY CONSOLATION IS THAT IT GIVES CHANCE FOR US ZAMBIANS TO BUILD A VERY GOOD TEAM THAT CAN COMPETE FOR 2022 WORLD CUP. THAT I AM OPTIMISTIC IF THESE YOUNGER PLAYERS MAINTAIN THEIR PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOUR AND ATTITUDE, IT WILL BE A WALK OVER QUALIFICATION TO 2022.

  18. NIGERIA JUST LIKE ENGLAND WILL BE ELIMINATED IN THE FIRST ROUND OF COMPETITION IF THEY DO NOT PREPARE WELL. I LIVE IN ENGLAND SO I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. ENGLAND IS VERY DISORGANISED AND THERE ARE NO PLAYERS WORTHY TALKING ABOUT. IN SHORT NO QUALITY. PLAYERS JUST RUN LIKE HEADLESS CHICKENS.
NIGERIA MAKE SURE YOU PREPARE VERY WELL FOR THE TOURNAMENT, DO NOT EMBARRASS US WITH SQUABBLES OF MONEY. YOU ARE GOING THEIR TO REPRESENT US AFRICANS AND NOT NIGERIANS ALONE. I REMEMBER THAT YEAR WHEN YOU BEAT SPAIN IN GROUP STAGE OF COMPETITION WITH A SUNDAY OLISEH GOAL. SUCCESS COMES WITH HARD WORK AND DETERMINATION.

    • I agree man. I’m sure they’ll prepare very well. It took a 75th minute goal by Paul Pogba in the round of sixteen to eliminate us from the world cup in Brazil. I’m sure the coach will want to better that result. Thanks for being so open minded. I live in the USA . More power to Africans all over the world.

  19. Those who are talking about Zambian politics in Nigeria what we can tell you is that there is cholera outbreak in Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia. Mazyopa, chipata compund, kabanana and SOS village are affected by cholera. Come back and disinfect your country and please do not infect the Nigerians with Cholera.

  20. Thumbs up chipolopolo.u have a very good team. If u were not paired with super eagles u would have made russia.work towards 2022.

  21. I DID MENTION HERE THAT AN EXCELLENT AND SEASONED GENERAL CAN GO TO BATTLE LEAVING HIS BEST SOLDIERS BEHIND…WADA IS A TOTAL FAILURE , A USELESS COACH WITH A LOW SELF-ESTEEM… HE UNCHARACTERISTICALLY PICKED UNNECESSARY QUARRELS WITH YOUNG PLAYERS …FWAYO, KALABA , CHAMA ..EVEN THE SIDELINED MBESUMA ARE BETTER PLAYERS BY FAR THAN SOME OF THE PLAYERS THIS CHI WADA PICKED…..

BUILDING A TEAM FOR THE FUTURE KWISA..IT APPEARS WE HAVE SO MANY FUTURES..ALAA THE FUTURE IS NOW…

  22. Defeat is painful and frustrating to anyone of us…But we must show the spirit of sportmanship…Nigeria has beaten Zambia both in their home and away. This means the Super Eagles are the better team.
Zambia has a good team (zero to zero in the first half of the game), but they met a better team.
Football is not played in the media or in the pages of the newspapers…( The Zambian Coach should note that “pride goes before a fall”)….statements like…I am praying for Nigeria to lose to Cameroun or I am coming to inflict pain on all Nigerians…are beyond a psychological warefare, but plain stupid. Congratulations Super Eagles. May God bless Nigeria and help all the other nations.

  23. The coach pick the best team, the team that lost in Ndola had the likes of kalaba , mbesuma,Fwayo but they still lost. Displine is very important both on and off the pick Fwayo and kalaba are in displine to be included in the team. Let us give the technical bench support.

  24. just pass by…..
I was at complete sport soccer
this coach is just too noising
we have also face all this problem b4 but we blam our team not the team that win us Nigeria is a team that can defeated any country in the world currently
bcos we have a good starting eleven and also good bench everyone want to start,Nigeria start building all this player since 2014 after nation cup fail
the way German national team build from 2010 to last year world cup, even all the white men coach believe Nigeria have team they have build currently check goal.com what Japan coach say about Nigeria team so why Zambia now complain go back home and build experience player, not U20 player we also have U20 player which we think they are not Qualify to be in Nigeria squad someone like…

  25. Nigeria needs to work hard to go through the 1st round at the World Cup. They talk more than they play. They always over rate themselves. Thanks to the referees assistance you are going to Russia.

    • Lies and more lies from Zambian commentators. You were outclassed technically. Talking about who talks more? The Zambians. They over rate themselves. You beat Algeria and you think you’ll beat Nigeria. Our coach had to reply Zambians that the talking will be on the pitch, and it was done. Please guys accept defeat from a superior team that beat you home and away. No team will qualify for the World Cup and will not work hard after qualification so we don’t need your advice on that. It’s not for you to predict where Nigeria will end up in a competition you’ve been praying to even get there.

    • Dream is free but that doesn’t give you the guts to dream of going to the world cup at the expense of nigeria . Shame !

  26. Zambia position is 3rd not 2nd. Cameroon is coming to beat Zambia at home.. With Super Eagles B, Algeria is in trouble. Next time tell your coach not to be too arrogant. Football is not playing by mouth, it is playing in the field. Super eagles doesn’t toy with World Cup qualification. Pray not to pair with Nigeria in your life again.

  27. Great game. Zambia is the best team in this group but poorest in preparation. We always lack seriousness in beginning but quickly get serious in middle of qualifiers. We have a huge reserve of good players. Congrats to Nigeria. A well executed plot..qualifying with a game in hand. Zambians always support Nigeria at the world out of 5 other African teams. And Nigeria always disappoint us. The quality Nigeria showed was not good enough. I think Zambia was a better side. Nigeria might go out in the first round at the world cup

    • Thanks man for your advice and support. We also always support Zambians in competitions we’re not in. But we’re turned off by commentators that wanted to re-write what has already been written. Zambia couldn’t qualify because a superior team Nigeria was in the group. This superior team beat them home and away to confirm its superiority, that’s all and Nigeria deserve congratulations and advice on how to improve and not abuses from some commentators here.

  28. Zambia played their best match against the Super Eagles. They had no choice or else they would have been decapitated.
The Super Eagles squandered chances before the Alex Iwobi goal. At the end of the day, better team tactics and game management won.
Football is not only about talent. It’s tactics, technics and strategy.
Overall it was a good advertisement for African football.
    Weldone to both teams.

    • That’s what the Zambians should have been thanking God for:losing just by 1 goal. It could have been worst. The commentators here didn’t watch that match well enough. They should ask themselves, how many times was the Nigerian goalkeeper called into action compared to their Mwenee? Because our boys squandered many chances, these guys are crying foul from an offside forced “goal” in which the linesman raised his flag ahead of time and referee already blew the offside whistle. We always support Zambia, but it seems they have turned against us. They could challenge us in the future, but not now. We’re just beyond them for now.

  29. I AM ENJOYING THE CONVERSATION, ESPECIALLY FROM NIGERIAN SUPPORTERS, MATURE AND FULL OF SOBRIETY! GO GO FORWARD CHIPOLOPOLO, WE HAVE LEARNT A LESSON: FOOTBALL IS WON ON THE PITCH, NOT IN THE MEDIA.

    • Yeah @Mubanga. You’re matured in your comments. Nigeria had always supported Zambia in any competition we’re not in. We acknowledge your fluid style of play. Nigeria used to play the same style totally and believe still do but at lesser degree, why? Because Nigeria has realized it’s not such that wins. It’s creation and conversion of chances on the pitch. So Nigeria has been working on its technical ability, not beauty of football or so much athleticism. Watch the Germans. No beauty. They’re athletic but with some measure. Emphasis is on working out chances and converting them. Incidentally Nigeria is being coached by a German. This is why Zambians didn’t understand what happened to them in Ndola and Uyo. Cheer up Zambia. Prepare for the future.

  30. Our Team did well, a fine group of Chipolopolo WARriors it’s not an easy task beating Nigeria in Nigeria with massive home support… but we worked them and showed true Zambian determination to be successful.

We are the gateway for Nigeria into Russia 2018.

We must continue building the current squad, well done to them and well done to the coaching staff. In the near future Zambia will represent Africa at the World Cup.. for now good luck Nigeria and well done.. beating the southern African giants ain’t easy..

    • We’re there and you’re not. What you’ve been praying for, for many years. We accounted for your not being there this time. By the grace of God your words will not hold. Super Eagles beat you silly HOME and AWAY. It could’ve been worst for you if our boys converted all their chances and you call them chickens. Sore loser. You’re not a matured Zambian so I won’t engage you much, but I answered you in the context you made your comments. I apologize to the rest of Zambians here but this guy needed to be put in his proper position.

    • Sorry cry cry baby.make sure you dont poo on you pampers when watching the super Eagle at the world cup on your antiquated black and white TV .

  31. Honestly, I love both teams. I wish Nigeria and Zambia can represent Africa, but we have no option. Kudos to the both teams for displaying of good footballing. Experience shows the different between Men and Boys. Congratulations Super Super Eagles of Nigeria, good job Boys of Zambia (young shall grow of Africa) As for the Zambia Coach, your best is not the best for the Zambia team. You need to work hard and stop playing matches on pages of Newspapers. I know Zambia team with good football on the pitch, where did you cultivated the Habit of making noise on medias. Instead of you to get better things done. That’s a lesson for you. Anyway, Zambia team will be great and congratulations Nigeria and other Africa teams.

  32. Zambians, what you don’t know is that, Nigerians are your huge fans in Africa i mean your number one Fan, why the beefing?

  33. @Zemwila, why are you wishing Super Eagles bad luck? By the Special of God, Super Eagles will win world cup for Africa this time around. At U17 world cup, they won it five times, U20 world cup they reached final twice, Olympics Nigeria has won Gold, Silver and Bronze. What remains now is World Cup.. Let us do it together. Nigeria needs the African supports. The materials are on ground.

  34. We WILL NEVER QUALIFY FOR THE WORLD CUP with coaches of such standard. Correct me if l am wrong, our coach has WON any massive silver ware and you expect hem to lead us to the world cup? It is not a child play to conquer formidable sides like the Super Eagles. He made silly changes. Our weakness was on that midfielder wearing number 23………….he is not a national team material and the coach failed to see that he was struggling.

  35. The fact is that the linesman and ref errored in blowing for offside.it happens sometimes in football… eg SA vs Senegal.Truth is that Nigeria at World Cup are just going as tourists

  36. I never knew that Zambians are bad lossers like this.Nigerians are big fans of Zambia in every facets of life. I remembered the big jubilations in Lagos when Zambia won Afcon 2012. I organized party personally for my staff.. So Zambians don’t love Nigerians at all. You forgot that football is just a game that we have so many things in common. From language to culture. We play the same brand of football only that Zambia players don’t travel much. Just few of them travel. Nigeria needs your support to excel in world cup. Pray for supper eagles and support super eagles. Kindly maintain this team for 2022 world cup. Best wishes.

  37. We didn’t ask you to join us in our jubilation when we genuinely won the 2012 afcon..we don’t even need yo support in future… As regards the game yesterday I smell a rat called 419…all the best Russian tourists for 2018…i hope FIFA gives you the same referee and linesman.

    • Statistics speak. Go watch again and check the statistics of the match. How many times was the Nigerian goalkeeper called to order by the Zambian strikers? How many times was the Zambian goalkeeper called to order by the Nigerian strikers? You don’t consider these. That’s why you’ve struggled many years without qualifying: your perception of technicality on the pitch is poor. 419 in Ndola and Uyo!!! A team beats you Home and AWAY and you call it 419. Better to be Russian tourists than never there and being sore everywhere including under the undies. Many of you surprise us. Check the comments of your coach and captain instead of these sore stricken comments.

  38. Zambia are a team for the future. The Algerian coach made the same remark. Zambians support us in our quest to win the World Cup. We always support your teams whenever we are not competing with you. Take heart. You lost to a technically superior team.

    • @Kalu,
Don’t get carried away by some bad comments from Zambia. Thats how Zambians are they enjoy when you respond with bad comments. On the ground Zambia is going to support Nigeria at the world Cup. I will but you guys always disappoint us. Your team at the World cup easily get overwhelmed and frustrated and loss to very small teams. Your best team was Daniel Omuchi,Sunday Olise ,Finidi goerge etc…. but this one not good enough I wish you the best. Let me look for a Nigerian jersy.

  39. Interesting and entertaining reading from Nigerians and Zambians. Shows Africans are the same in the West, South or East. North Africans are bloody descendants of the rape by a chimpanzee of a beautiful Swahili Princess

  40. Lol ,nasty fights over nothing.I can guarantee you all plainly that come WC Russia 2018 all Africans will be cheering for each other regardless of nationality.
Nigerians please don’t take all this shiet thrown at you seriously.

  41. Zat sebapoo undoshiii… in Nola u won clean and we didn’t complain. in uyo the referee helped you. Even in your deepest conscience u know that. No wonder u celebrated like headless chickens.whatever u say fact is it was not a genuine win and that’s why your team won’t go far coz at World Cup no 419 my brada.

    • No deepest conscience on this from me because I know my team was better than your team technically. You are the ones that base things on sentiments which really really pains a lot. Statistics speak not beauty or running around. We in Nigeria don’t banter, we criticise our teams very effectively. Where they do well we commend them, where they don’t we criticise them. Ghana has complained to FIFA against Uganda. I beg you if you believe you’ve got a credible case against Nigeria, drag your FAZ to lay your complaint to FIFA….and you’ll see how FIFA will have a good laugh at you. Simple. We qualified and must celebrate whether we played against whomever. Going far is in further preparations we shall have and God,not in your hands. Let the pain go.

  42. Which camera and angle are u Nigerians talking about. Replay shows it was not an offside… ThenTalking about statistics;who told u that football is about statistics. It’s goals that win u the game .its goals that change a game… Jose mourinho has won UEFA twice with less ball possession. 419 for sure at your.

    • Go to FIFA and lay your complaint, then you’ll be thought football. Ghana has gone there already against Uganda. So go, otherwise you don’t have a case.

  43. How on earth would all those half baked and local players that the weekly allowance of the least paid Nigerian player will pay all the allowances of the Zambian team. Yeye people. Fire calling pot black

  44. I really love the current Zambia team, though they were bunch of inexperienced players yet they played with great determination to win Nigeria. Zambians should stop being bitter about the result of the match, the Super Eagles are more experienced than the Chipolopolo.

They should try to maintain this current team, they will go far if they improve.

  45. Well done Nigeria. CONGRATS.. I think the technical team lost the game. I was sure we would do some magic but when I saw the starting line up and no Daka my hopes were not 100%… It hurts

  46. Typical southern Africans , fuelled by so much hatred for Nigerians. The stat don’t lie u call us proud pple, if u can’t accept a defeat, who is the proud now?

    • Who told you there is a Southern African typicality? Or is there a West African or Nigerian typicality? You want to create convenient stereotypes for people that you can then use to attack them

  47. The goal was genuine. at the worst it shud have been a 1-1 status. On our side as Zambia it was just mere lucky Nigeria even scored. They were really put under serious pressure by Zambia despite the crowds supporting them. our coach hasn’t seen that A.N. is not really producing results tho he can put up a fight in front. Maybe another striker could have given us a result too bad for injuries of P.D. and B.M. At the end of the day Go Nigeria Go – that’s is to Russia. we don’t want first round disappointment pls.

  48. Three things. First the offside ruling was correct.
Second, the player that “scored” should have been yellow carded for going ahead even though the whistle had gone way before his attempt on goal.
Third, Nigeria also had a similar situation where the player was actually on side but was ruled offside, but unlike the Zambian player Iwobi just simply ran back to his position without any fuss.
If we were considering offside rulled opportunities as goals, Nigeria would be 2-0 ahead and Zambia would have another player carded.

  49. win or loose will stand firm and support my team chipolopolo, they say we all start from somewere, its good that we are getting there.

  50. 1. Nigeria scored after their striker forced a zambian defender down. The ref nodded play on giving advantage to the nigerian winger. The ball then came by the direct line where the defender would have been standing had he been up.
    2. Nigerians are calling Zambian team a bunch of inexperienced players, right? How “super” are are the super eagles when with star studded world class players they could only score “1” goal against a bunch of u20 kids.
    3. And you are accusing zambians of boasting in pre match talks, the fact is all the media you were getting that information from are all nigerian, twisted infor posted by sub intelligent nigerian journalists. In every post, Just read the exact words that the zambian players and coach uttered you will notice that the content dont…

  51. dont match the nigerian headlines. Even us in zambia were shocked to see how irresponsibly sensational your journalists are!
4.one nigerian is wondering where zambia is on the african continent. Well i pray that he doesnt find it. Did you know that its every national’s prayer nigerians dont come to their country?
    5. things you should know about zambian national football team: coaches and players are neither scared of nor will they be intimidated by any team, statistics or big names. Zambians will always fight to the bitter end on the day of play. Underrate them at your own peril.
    6. Lastly football is won by scoring goals. nigeria scored and we congratulate them.
