President Edgar Lungu has said that the the reported physical scuffle involving 3 Patriotic Front Members of Parliament will be left for the Speaker of the National Assembly to determine.

Speaking at the City Airport before departure for Eastern Province, the president said that it was important for Members of Parliament to respect one another and also use proper language when engaging each other.

President Edgar Lungu also said that the petitioning of the Speaker by the 64 MPs over the purchase of the fire trucks and the construction of the Lusaka-Ndola dual carriage way clearly showed that MPs do not understand that such matters do not fall under the speaker’s authority.

President Lungu explained that the matter that has been taken to Parliament is not in the speaker’s jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini has referred the matter in which Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili was allegedly slapped by Copperbelt Minister Bowman Lusambo before Lands Minister Jean Kapata poured a bottle of water on him to the committee on privileges, absences and support services.

Dr Matibini has also referred the counter point of order raised by Ms Kapata to the same committee for further consideration and making appropriate recommendations.

Dr Matibini said that in view of the fact that the point of order raised by Mr Kambwili raises potentially conflicting versions of what transpired on the material date, he has found necessary to refer the matter to the committee on privileges, absences and support services.

Dr Matibini also said that it was in order to enable the committee fully investigate what transpired on the material day and make appropriate recommendations to the house in due course.

  1. We will wait and see the recommendations from the committee. Hope it will reflect true reflection of parliament standing?

  2. There is Lazy Lungu …spending two days in Eastern Province climbing on tractors with out shame.
The Speaker has not yet commented…you have the Executive giving orders to Legislative…this moron has no respect fpr separation as that line dont exist. He is trying very hard to sweep this issue of procurement of 42 firetrucks under the carpet…why?
Why can you not climb on a plane quietly….if you want press briefing host a press conference at State House.

  3. It takes a flint to rub against another flint to create a spark, that’s a natural fact. All parties involved in the wrangle must be reprimanded and put in their place.

  4. Kambwili deserves the beatings he got.in fact, more beatings await him from the people in provoke on daily basis!!Hon.Bowman Lusambo should have actually beaten neckless Kambwili the way he had beaten Muhabi Lungu and Major Kachingwe in 2012 for CK to have some good manners!!
As for fire engines, that is a dead issue now.only those with nothing to offer and do are making noise about it because PF has ended load shedding, mealie meal reduced, kwacha is stable, etc.so Kainde and his evil creatures have nothing to blame PF about, hence now simply making noise about corruption minus any evidence!!
KEEP ON WORKING HARD H.E. EDGAR LUNGU AND WE SHALL REWARD YOUR PF GOVNT WITH MASSIVE VOTES IN 6.5 PROVINCES IN 2021!!!

    • Count me out of your 6.5 provinces rhetoric, who in his normal senses would want to give ECL another term? I am from the 6.5 provinces you always blindly brag about but one thing is for sure ,I can’t give ECL my vote again. I regret voting for him in the last elections.

    • COUNT ME ALSO.I HAVE BEEN VOTING FOR PF BUT 2021 NO WAYS. WE CAN’T ALLOW BOWMAN LUSAMBO TO BE INSULTING PEOPLE THAT SUFFERED FOR PF. LUNGU NO VOTE FROM ME.

  5. Look at this corrupt theif of a President trying his hardest to sweep the corrupt fire tender deal under carpet……lungu was given $5 million from this deal….

$1 million for a $380k truck ? Lungu should be encouraging investigations from all angles not trying to stop investigations

Ati “President Lungu explained that the matter that has been taken to Parliament is not in the speaker’s jurisdiction.”

    • That high-tech P320-CP31 Scania in the picture costs £280,000 ( tools included) and the sad part about it is, its a higher specification to what those these crooks bought for $1million….why doesnt it pain our Politicians why? You can easily buy 3 fire trucks from $1million… I get a lump in my throat everytime I talk about this theft.

  6. The disgraceful physical altercation among these MPs had everything to do with corruption, abuse of office, whistle-silencers attacking a whistle-blower for exposing them, the kettle calling the pot black etc.. and NOTHING to do with developmental issues of mother Zambia.

But obviously Lungu does not see it that way because he is a bird of a feather with these MP’s.i.e;_

-How did Lungu acquired more than 21 million Kwacha, and counting, in twelve months of being Republican President?

  7. Scuffling uncouth MP’s reflecting our degenerating society which violent PF cadres have helped shape up since 2011.

  8. “President Edgar Lungu also said that the petitioning of the Speaker by the 64 MPs over the purchase of the fire trucks and the construction of the Lusaka-Ndola dual carriage way clearly showed that MPs do not understand that such matters do not fall under the speaker’s authority……this clearly shows the quality of the MPs”. Kikikikiki….
The UP.NDonkey MPs petitioned the Speaker and Under5 wanted to take the “credit” and claimed that he had instructed them to do so. Now President Lungu has questioned the quality of MPs, and by extension the quality of their “leader” Under5 as they all (including lawyer Jack Mwiimbu) don’t know the operations of various wings of government. Now that is what we call IGNORANCE in capital letters. Imagine this boy in State House for just a…

    • Where , wings of government naimwe badala ?
The Zambian people only want to know how a poor country needing foreign assistance with cholera resurfacing in lusaka , can agree to pay $1 million for a truck that costs $380k, 42 times ?

  9. ……..Now that is what we call IGNORANCE in capital letters. Imagine this boy in State House for just a minute, and his MPs as cabinet ministers even for half a minute, there would be total chaos in Zambia!

    • If that boy was in state house I don’t think he would be stealing like a monkey in a maize field as lungu is doing……lungu stole already $2.3 million after just one year in office.

  10. That falls under the president’s jurisdiction? Not at all but that is the situation we have currently! State House authorizes everything.

  11. Like Pilato in the scrupture, Matibini washes his hands for fear of being lynched by Lusambo, the senior boxer in PF government.

  12. Mumbi Phiri and Elizabeth Chitika were suspended for engaging in a physical fight within Parliament premises. The same should happen to these plunderers. There should be no sacred cows. This is where Speaker Matibini should prove his non-partisan stance. As a mature person and one who is a national leader if you are aggrieved with the allegations of your fellow MP, drag them to court so they can substantiate their claims instead of nasty physical confrontations. Shame on them!

  13. Sounds like Lungu has already discussed and decided on these parliamentary issues with Matibini. No separation of powers in Zambia at all.

  14. Our parliament is toothless and useless. it appears everything is decided and enforced by the president. Let us just close it because it is now a liability and not an asset. Everything discussed in there does not fall under the speakers jurisdiction?

  15. HH OVAL HEAD. What will stop him from stealing if he stole from the mines a small organization compared National by being a president where everything will be under him that is when he will make a BIG killing than from privatization.

  16. What I find revolting is the way Lungu thinks the citizenry of this country are feeble minded to believe the lies that he and his corrupt ministers to cover up for their thieving. It was incredulous to hear Jean the Baptist in a clip making rounds think she is a star for drenching Kambwili in water! That the calibre of the Lungu cabinet. Lungu continues to amaze; look at the people he had on his entourage to Swaziland on an obvious binge jaunt (he could not take Ministers of Finance nor Trade and Commerce on the trip for obvious reasons!). And we the people must pay for all the reckless expenditure and corruption? This messing up of the country must come to an end!

  17. Is that the way you treat your father? Have respect for the elderly, more especially the president elect. You lose nothing. Hope you don’t call your own biological father a moron..

  18. Is that the way you treat your father? Have respect for the elderly, more especially the president elect. You lose nothing. Hope you don’t call your own biological father a moron..

  19. why does this fool of a president like giving statements at the airport? wtf!
he needs to sit his ass down and do some work… wth are you going to look at a goddamn combine for? inspect my ass, what does he know about the mechanics or that machine for him to inspect? just wasting money that we don’t have.
sit in your office and formulate policies that the handful of Zambians who still believe in you can emulate and work towards.
this’ a classic case of ghetto… lungu never in his wildest imagination thing he’d become president. so he wants to go all over the freaking place …the same way you see a ghetto person behave at a party with buffet of food and booze, is the way lungu’s behaviour is

  20. Kambwili cited Harry Kalaba and another MP who he was chatting with at that time when the event happenned. What are the witnesses saying? The case is easy to dispose of because it happened when other people were there. Could not the speaker summon them to give testimony so that we know what transpired .

  21. Where are the manda manda vehicles bought by the Late Honourable Tetamashimba? Government should have bought just 10 firefighter vehicles to cover major cities prone to fires.
