Over ten Civil Societies in Zambia are demanding for the publication of tender documents for all public projects especially the ones under public outcry which includes the fire tenders and construction of the Lusaka-Ndola dual carriageway.
Speaking on behalf of the 13 civil societies in the country at the Jesuit Centre for Theological Research (JCTR) , Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) Director Patrick Nshindano said it is imperative that citizens see how the institutions involved arrived at the decision and their considerations if the procurement was done in public interest.
And Nshindano observed the continued misplaced priorities and mismanagement of public funds with recent examples of the purchase of the 42 tenders and construction of the Lusaka-Ndola carriageway.
“Citizens must see how the institutions involved arrived at the decision and their considerations if the procurement was done in public interest” Nshindano said
Meanwhile, Zambia Centre for social Development (ZCSD) Director Lewis Mwape says Zambians have a duty to hold leaders accountable for all transactions.
“We have a duty as citizens to hold leaders accountable for all transactions” Mwape said
The 10 CSOs funded by who??? Their boards constituted by who???
Its seems the kitchen is getting hot for a number of people including you.
Corrupt Zambian citizen…
Why do you get agitated when Zambians ask for accountability ???
The PF government cannot pretend and continue to keep silent on this FF trucks tender, there is a public outcry wanting to be confronted with details and facts surrounding this deal.
There is nothing wrong to inform the public BUT make no mistake, it’s not enough to just say, well it was according to the tender rules and the process was audited by ACC.
People do not trust the tender process and do not trust ACC, so ECL ought to come out and defend his government decision for spending $42mil on trucks as opposed to providing medical equipment to UTH, etc.
If someone wants to hold MY government accountable which I VOTE for, who is mandated by MY constitution to represent me and my fellow citizens, it is my RIGHT to know who is funding them, what is their MOTIVE, do they have the interest of my children at heart???
Accountability is the way forward:
#Bring back our $42 million..
How can you ask Govt to publish documents that are readily available….the problem with our NGOs they only start talking when they receive funding.
What is the real issue here?
corruption & thievery under pf government is the real issue here…lol
No, corruption is the latest mode of attack against the PF govt. by the useless opposition after petition, dictatorship, etc flopped. Home Affairs yesterday told parliament that a grouping disguised as “fighters of corruption” was uncovered and on a mission to malign and criticize whatever ECL was doing. This “corruption” they can’t prove in the courts so they have resorted to media attacks a la FTJ/post newspaper/M’membe style!! This scam involves an alliance of organisations backed by a political party.
Do you really believe in your words sure, iwe @Zambian Citizen, stop those conspiracies theories, nishani kanshi.
In your mind you are really sure no corruption, everything is okay….stop trumpism here. Only trumps think he is always right, I did not expect you are the same.
@Kenyenye: What conspiracies?? Do you think the whole of the minister would go to parliament to talk rubbish after the info. he was given??? Corruption?? Ofcourse there is corruption, what is lacking is the right mechanisms and systems to point it out, INVESTIGATE IT properly and convict the culprits. That is what you and me should be discussing and forming community groups and heckling our councillors, our mps and parliament itself to start reforming our criminal justice system. Not just waking up ati “Lungu is corrupt”?? From where, iweee?????
Corrupt Zambian citizen.. .
Lungu is blocking any form of investigation into this corrupt deal….
Are they sure with whatever they are saying, or demanding or its hypocrisy? Interested factions are told to get necessary documentation for fire tenders from relevant organizations,ZPPA, UFT and many more. Now I wonder to learn about this matter as though as someone is waking up from dream and start Inciting on dreams. If anything NGOs are on record for investigation and get important issues to inform their citizens. Already I smile a rotten rat from these NGOs
And now we have ambulances costing 288,000 dollars thats almost 3million kwacha per ambulance mwebabantu that’s a price of a range rover vogue twapapata please.do they come with a greater?
This fire tender issue was pronounced in 2012 by then republican president Michael Chilufya Sata. Why didn’t Nshindano and his gang question him then?? These fire tenders or roads are the responsibility of any sitting government, what business do CSO’s have in questioning public infrastructure meant to benefit Zambians and their future generations??? IS IT IN THE INTEREST OF THEIR PAYMASTERS AND FUNDERS TO KEEP ZAMBIA IN THE STONE AGE SO THAT IT’S RESOURCES CAN BE PILLAGED BY COUSINS OF THESE FUNDERS IN THE NAME OF MULTINATIONAL CORPORATIONS AS IS THE CASE WITH DRC??? The Ndola-Lusaka dual carriageway will house toll gates and other infrastructure that will enhance public revenue and mechanisms to monitor the movement of minerals, are these the “hindrances” Nshindano and his gang…
…want to clear for their affiliated multinationals???
My dull friend, the cost of the fire engines is the issue. How do you fail to get that into your concrete reinforced skull?? If the cost had been known during Sata’s time the outcry would have been there. M0r0n.
@Dudelove: Can yourself or your CSO bandits please avail the nation counter quotes with the matching specs. we start the process of impeaching and firing the “culprits”, please?????? Not just this media showboating you worthless twit!!!!
Dudelove
This corrupt Zambian citizen is part of this corruption.. …

Opposition this time if they are in power tomorrow they will feel the same heat some of the resting cases will come alive , some one will ran away from state house time to loot with impunity is gone .
No we cannot trust any humanbeing we have a right to question anything suspicious.
This case will not go away untull someone gives proper explanation.
yaa we are really suffering mwandini. It pains to see just a few selfish Zambian enjoying the wealth of this country. I dont know who can help us. We are being taxed for everything bank accounts even the ZNBC which we used to watch for free is off in our homes. Not everyone can afford to buy a decoder.
Had not been for the price, the firetenders are more than a P1 requirement.
Every one agrees, fire engines were a necessity but not at 3 times the cost….
You’ve just read that or heard it. Of course it was bought at $90,000 you’re going to call it salaula.
A new fire engine of same make of higher spec costs 380k.
We know the costs……
Just get brochures and send them instead of saying “we know. …”
Maybe in England. .but here getting a second hand Fortuner from Japan will cost you slightly more than the price you’ve quoted.
In Kwacha.
Uzeress! So you want when UPND arsonists burn infrastructure, everything burns? Well done government. Don’t listen to losers.
