President Edgar Lungu has appointed and sworn in Kwacha Member of Parliament Joe Malanji and Nkana MP Alexander Chiteme as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of National Development Planning respectively.

And President Lungu has urged the newly appointed ministers to be humble and serve the people who elected them into office.

Mr. Lungu said leaders are the servants of the people and should show humility and not be proud.

He told the two new ministers that they were chosen after a long and careful process from among other equally competent PF members.

The head of state said he settled on the two because as leader he had his own reasons for picking them.

And President Lungu has reminded PF members who do not want to serve under him as party and republican Presidential to leave the party.

He said the PF remains the party of first choice among Zambians.

President Lungu said PF has continued to grow over the years and if the party works even harder, the 2021 general election will be a walk over.

Mr. Malanji replaces Bahati MP Harry Kalaba who resigned as Minister of foreign Affairs while Mr CHITEME takes over from Lucky Mulusa who was fired as Minister of National Development Planning.

President Lungu, Vice President Inonge Wana and Cabinet Ministers are currently in a meeting at State House.

    • These are brilliant appointments.

      Congratulations to the elected.

2021 will be lik stealing sweets from a child again.

      Thanks

    • What are there freaking credentials?? I think LT should be serious and do investigative reporting. we need full facts so that we know the brains behind these so called ministers!! We are tired of dull cadres leading us

    • Malanji was an ambassador in Mwanawasas time and a successful businessman he owns Gibson and Gibson. Those are some of his credentials. As for appointing a cadre, who do you appoint if you don’t appoint those who will stab in the back like someone I know who was having meetings with Mwenya Musenge at night?

    • Could Malanji be related to the man who owned a bar which was situated near Arthur Davison Hospital in Ndola in the 1970s?

  1. What about thnew PS called Bright Nundwe on the Copperbelt who is threatening Civil Servants saying he’s not educated but he’s a politician and People should be afraid of him because he’s the boss? Hahahaha hahahaha!

Where did you find him, Mr. President?

    • It’s wrong to threaten subordinates. It’s unethical but so is using your job to undermine government because you belong to Upnd. You’re not undermining PF, you’re undermining Zambia as a nation and stealing public funds by not doing the job you’re employed to do.

  2. You remember the game we used to play when we were young accompanied by the song: Shukutu Shukutu, ng’anda bampele, sakatila bana bandi kuluba noumpele ng’anda chinfundawila kalongaeee…shukutu! It is like Edgar Lungu is playing that game in picking his ministers.

  3. What has happened to the visionless one? So he is in the country? How can a country develop like this? In less that two years we don’t know how many changes have take place in this chipantepante government. This malangi thug will tarnish the name of our country, How do you appoint a kaponya to such a high post? PF is a worst party to have ruled this country, and now they want to loot money from toll gates in the pretext of fighting cholera. Bakabwanseke imwe.

  4. While others are resigning others are taking oppotunities long live mr presindent even 2021 is yours, let them feel the plight of being outside cabinate.

  5. How exactly are ministers appointed? On Educational merit or favor? Please let them have a definite paper trail in their respective appointment from a respectable university or advanced college… At least a degree/masters/phd relevant to his Ministry. This only makes more sense, unlike having someone with absolutely NO idea nor educational intellect on how to run his own ministry, ordering intellectuals what to do, and ignoring concerns of the people who are actually trained to do the job? Just my thoughts…

    • You can be educated ,have a master, PHD, but practical work you fail. You can fail to articulate issues. You can be educated, but with no wisdom at all. You can be educated and only be a manager and not a leader. Academic qualifications is not everything. . My foot

  6. MMD take over or is it over take PF. Tutwa Dr Chanda KBF Ngambi all all watching from the stands the true blues taking PF. Interesting development kambwili being asked by lusambo to pf. It is like kamba asking nkombo to leave upnd

  7. Instead of addressing the cholera epidemic, the leader is busy appointing ministers. bwafya muchalo chesu ichi

  8. Why is this kateka always sounding threats? Is he afraid of something or what…?
We are missing a father figure in politics today. Unfortunately the current crop from the ruling and opposition lacks the maturity needed to unify the nation! And these threats coupled with intolerance to critics or opponents is evidence of that missing maturity.

  9. Mr. President, I wish to commend you in your choice of Honourable Malanji as Foreign Affairs Minister. This man is intelligent; a natural Diplomat, and oozes a lot of wisdom. He may not have a chain of Degrees or Doctorates to wave around like others, but his achievements in life, and credible interaction with great people, and the faith the prestigious African Golf Confederation recognized in him, over many white , famous billionaires of the continent bear testimony. He served as Vice President, to begin with, then as President of the Confederation….That’s no mean achievement. Apart from that, he is a Linguist of naught, and an excellent communicator who will very ably represent mother Zambia.Congratulations, Honourable Malanji.

    • You missed the important role of the ambassador. Representation is the least one woul expect. Learn from other countries operating in Zambia. Look at how they are penetrating your economic enclaves and influencing policy in areas of their interest. That’s what you do!

You worry about whites and billionaires, they worry about how they can give their people a takes break by generating and expatriating profits from your resources.

  10. ECL’s trend of asking critics in PF to leave the party should come to an end. ECL is not PF, as a matter of fact he is not one of the founder members. Even in the U.S., Trump has got republicans criticizing him but we have not heard him say that. What about in South Africa, Zuma has been criticized by members of ANC but has not rushed to say leave. Please ba ECL refresh your memory start embracing tolerance, PF is not your inheritance NO!so treat it professionally. Zambians why are we not politically mature when it comes to running political parties? We need critics in PF and against the govt because things in Zambia are not ok. Do not play a part in championing intolerant politics in Zambia, be a leader; lead by example.

  11. WITH THE STRANGEST OPPOSITION EVER, 2021 WILL BE A WALK OVER FOR PF! ECL AND PF GETTING VOTES FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, WHILE HH AND UPND AND KAMBWILI AND ECL, NAWAKWI AND FDD, KABIMBA AND HIS ONE MAN SHOW PARTY SHARE THEIR PART! AWE MWANDI!

  12. KBF JUST LEAVE PF.THIS IS PURELY FRUSTRATING FOR PF FOUNDERS.
PEOPLE LIKE VICTORIA KALIMA,DORA SLIT,BOWMAN LUSAMBO AND NOW ANOTHER MALANJI WHO NEVER SUPPORTED AND SUFFERED FOR PF ARE ENJOYING WHILST PF FOUNDER MEMBERS WHO USED TO BE INSULTED BY THE SAME FELLOWS ARE ENJOYING.
SURELY,DAYS ARE COMING WHEN ECL WILL REMEMBER.
MUKASHALA MULI MWAMONENI BANE.DON’T BE CHEATED THAT 2021 WILL BE A WALK OVER.YOU HAVE MADE ALOT OF BLUNDERS AS PF AND DON’T THINK PEOPLE ARE FOOLS.AS FOR WHO AS BEEN VOTING FOR PF SINCE 2006,2021 I WILL NOT.COUNT MY VOTE OUT.

    • JB,

Who are the PF founder members? Without exception, all PF founder members are from the MMD. The founder of the PF, Mr. Michael Sata, was Secretary General in the MMD before he left to form the PF. Other notable founder members like Guy Scott, Chimumbwa, Paul Lumbi, Yamfwa Mukanga, Musonda Mpakata, Lifwekelo, Kumwenda, the Kasolo brothers, and many others all came from the PF. The only difference is that some joined earlier than others.

    • Even in the MMD, Nevers Mumba joined fairly recently. Before the 1991 multiparty elections, Mumba was a fanatical member of UNIP who even predicted bloodshed if MMD won the elections! Does that make him any less a member of the MMD than Mbita Chitala? Malanji, Siliya, Kalima, may have joined the PF only a few years ago, but they campaigned on the PF ticket and brought a lot of votes to the PF! In any case, are they not Zambian citizens and patriots who are free to contribute to this country’s development on any party’s ticket?

  13. That should be a lesson to all that no one is the ultimate but God. The human being can be replaced by another or indeed a robot. To those that left their positions in whatever manner please be yourselves and remember that you went for the job to serve the masses. Do not reduce yourselves to the levels where society can conclude otherwise. Good luck to the incoming and the out going.

  14. Well done my president. Don’t listen to prophets of doom. Its not a mistake to appoint mmd members to your cabinet. Only shallow minded, greedy and tribalists people will blame you. Had it not been for mmd, Pf would have lost the 2016 elections.

  15. Chiteme’s comments on the fire tenders that they a state of art machines has earned him a cabinet position well played politics Chiteme for coming all the way from copper belt to defend corruption.

  16. Look at the cheap plywood stand with the emblem as part of state house furniture for presidential ceremonies yet the expensive indigenous mukula can not be processed to add glamour!

  17. Joe Malanji is another MMD bootlicker while Chiteme is a Jerabo and what do you expect from these two! There are brilliant PF MPs who can easly fit in those positions like Dr Jonas Chanda, Dr Martin Malama to mention but a few can you surely settle for Malanji and Chiteme and to make matters worse all from Kitwe why? Poor leadership!!! What is wrong with eastern province, Ruphia destroyed MMD now Lungu has destroyed PF it is sad.

  18. Who are the PF founder members? Without exception, all PF founder members are from the MMD. The founder of the PF, Mr. Michael Sata, was Secretary General in the MMD before he left to form the PF.
