Outspoken Former FDD Spokesman Antonio Mwanza has revealed that defected to the PF because he does not want to grow old in opposition politics.

Mr Mwanza who was until his defection a strong critic of the PF says he wants to contribute to national development by belonging to the ruling party.

“One can’t score by playing from the outside,” Mr Mwanza said amidst applause from the PF supporters who welcomed him at the PF Secretariat.

He said he had a million other options to consider but settled for the PF because he will be more effective there.

Mr Mwanza said he will continue offering criticisms from within the PF and that he is ready to serve in whatever capacity in the party.

“When my good friend Honourable Tutwa Ngulube was criticising the PF leadership in the media, i called him up, I knew Tutwa from my UNZASU days because he was the Chairman of the Electoral Commission when i ran for UNZA Presidency. So i called him up and advised him that my brother, go to the Secretariat and speak with the leadership, he did just that and today all is forgiven,” Mr Mwanza said.

He said attacking the PF leadership from the outside will not bring any value to the nation.

“You don’t start insulting your wife in front of your children,” Mr Mwanza said.

And Mr Mwanza said he decided to join the PF because he did not want to belong to a group of bitter politicians.

He said he knows the UPND better anyone else having worked with the party leadership when he was UNZASU President.

“I went round the country mobilising the student movement for UPND for Hakainde Hichilema when i was President of UNZASU and i was in charge of all students across the country.”

“I was Ba GBM the other night and he was saying that Zambians should vote for a President who is rich and i was left shocked. Does it mean that those of us from the compounds will never be Presidents? These same rich people, they are so bitter. What kind of rich people are these who can’t even buy proper shoes?”

Mr Mwanza also stated that it is good that some PF members are leaving the party thereby creating room for people like him.

“Let them go so that we can also become Ministers,” he said.

And when receiving Mr Mwanza, PF Deputy Secretary Mumbi Phiri said Mr Mwanza is a political heavy weight who will add value to the PF.

Mrs. Phiri said Mr Mwanza has made the right decision to join the PF and urged PF members to embrace and work with him.

She said what the PF is doing by welcoming new members is what late founding leader Michael Sata always taught the party insisting that politics is about numbers.

  1. Reading between the lines SH1THOLE Africa.

What you mean is you do not want to grow old being POOR right?

Go on, a man’s got to do what a man’s got to do!

    • Ati a l had a million options and you choose a corrupt visionless tribalist crooked group of people that is probably on its way out?
      Man this country sucks!!

    • In short, he is a fair weather friend. He will be with the PF as long as it’s in leadership, perhaps until the next election.

The ruling party should be careful with such people.

    • POSITIVE AFFIRMATION

Simply put, Mwanza seems to suggest that PF is the only vehicle to make him serve in the ruling party; that PF is gonna carry the day come 2021.
Only progressive people will think progressive. What does young Mweetwa think?

    • Congratulations Antonio you sre an intelligent man even me i would do the same. Why join the bitter tribal grouping from southern province which will never enter plot 1? Always losing but failing to go for convention?? Rubbish. Nyoooo mwailasha ba kwindi. Antonio is intelligent he cant join a tribal group. You will rot alone in opposition.

    • Very very disappointing. Young men like Antonio should have been independent activists providing checks and balances to political parties both ruling and opposition. Where is the voice of the youths mwebantu?

    • IF YOU CAN’T BEAT THEM, WELL THEN, JOIN THEM THEY SAY. I SWITCH
      ==========================
Only progressive people th.i.nk progressively. The yupndown is no option. Soon HH will defect to the ruling PF. Antonio ni I SWITCH na King Dand’ey.

    • Unbelievable… sh!thole country for sure. What type of country is this where you can’t find people with principles and integrity. Ask the gallants of the likes of Chrispin Sibetta who contributed to the democracy of this country all while in the opposition.

Let them go so that we can also become Ministers”. Clearly he is trying to lie about his true motives without realising he is reveaaling them at the same time. Sh!thole country, made so by sh!t people like this dude.

    • @Nostradamus

You really want to know? Oh my goodness, silly you …

Well, since you did ask, it means “umusula” … okay now, there you have it.

      Happy??!!

    • “One can’t score by playing from the outside,” Mr Mwanza said.
But you were not on the outside!
Very senseless analogising. Mwanza forgets there are two teams playing and you score from either side. He was in the opposing team and noone switches teams at half time because he is on the losing side.

  2. It’s his democratic right even if I don’t agree with that, but I won’t condemn him for exercising his constitutional right. All the best Mourinho

  3. “You don’t start insulting your wife in front of your children,” Mr Mwanza said.

And this example is the reason why there is no transparency and accountability with these politicians…docile Zambians and cadres will always be treated as children.

  4. We know you people Muzubgu anikonde that is what you are known for ask your friend Muhabi that is your fate. Tizawona baba, mwakoka mukwasu kayili.

    • These are the effects of unemployment …you have certificate holder Ministers living like CEOs whilst graduates like Mwanza are simply barking!!

    • Is Antonio Mwanza a graduate? Which University did he graduate from and which year and with what Degree? I hope Antonio or anyone who fully know this prick will tell the nation. Evidence is that he was only a tourist at UNZA! Please advise correctly

  5. “he did not want to belong to a group of b.itter politicians.” …… Antonio there is nothing wrong with bitterness especially when things are going horribly wrong. Just a few weeks ago u raised pertinent issues that have been messed up by the PF. How does that make you look? You are a completely self serving person with no empathic aorta of the Zambian people that had hope in your eagle eye to criticism of the injustices perpetuated by the pretentious pro poor party.

  6. If Antonio Mwanza had joined the UPND, the bloggers insulting him here would have been showering him with praise for a wise and intelligent decision.

  7. Waiting to hear what FDD has to say. Next is Tayali, good luck Antonio. It’s the beauty of democracy. It couldn’t have made sense defecting from one opposition party to another. It makes sense to defecate in PF. Kambwili left a lot of tissue

  8. Splendid move by Hon.Antonio Mwanza!!this guy is very talented and shall add a lot of votes to PF in 2021!!
Indeed why grow old like Jack Mwiimbu in the opposition?i met Mr Jack Mwiimbu at Arcades yesterday and hey-the man is grown-wasting his years in a regional party upnd which shall never rule Zambia!!look at wise guys such as Garry Nkombo,C.Mweetwa, these can be very good ministers but hey can their dictator Kainde allow them to work with PF Govnt?never!!they just keep on growing old in opposition-amazing!!IF PF WIN IN 2021,EXPECT ANTONIO MWANZA TO BE MINISTER BECAUSE THE YOUNG MAN IS HARD WORKING AND VERY WISE!!even before 2021,Antonio Mwanza shall get a position in PF leadership!!

    • Chachine, ba Antonio is heavy weight Koswe! How logical can the entire ‘Deputy National Secretary’ + Party Spokesperson defect all alone not even with his wife?

Efyo chaba to portray what you are not; PF try the proper National Secretaries not these fake one and see what a true political tsunami is; tamwaka kwate napakupita eyo day apo pa secretariat. Intungulushi isela na bantu.
Nawakwi is simply smiling as its indeed a relief from 120% Financial dependency that that Antonio exhibited. PF mukose ukumulisha no kufwika pantu aka butukila kumbi insala nga yasuma. Elyo oyo muntu tabala acitapo naka business akali konse mu life yakwe. He is a total parasite or lice sucking blood from a corpse – ni kontwa fye. Na mwebelapo ati ena akonkele fye ama percieved openings which have been…

  11. ..what happens wen PF goes into opposition in 3 years time….??…PF are supposed to demand and know exactly what AM recently discussed with HH….beware he may be a mole planted by the opposition….

  12. Indeed mwanza maybe you can bring some sanity to these bungling corrupt theives called PF for remaining years….we are tired of listening to loud empty tins ….

  13. Clearly, the University did not inculcate any tools of analysis or critical objectivity in his head. He is back to square one. Unschooled. Selfish, unprincipled and vying for a share of the expropriated resources.

  14. Abdoulaye Wade (born 29 May 1926 [2]
[3][4] ) is a Senegalese politician who was President of Senegal from 2000 to 2012. He is also the Secretary-General of the Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS) and has led the party since it was founded in 1974. [5][6] A long-time opposition leader, he ran for President four times, beginning in 1978, before he was elected in 2000. [5] He won re-election in 2007 with a majority in the first round, but in 2012 he was defeated in a controversial bid for a third term.

    • I thought the young man was tactfully planning for a FDD take over once he outwits nawakwi and chifumu banda, kanshi he just another koswe mu nsokoshi. So childish the stuff he was talking about, what about the shoes?

    • He is not that sort of a person who can run a political party the likes of Fr Frank Francis Bwalya-Chiyabi who are full mouth critics with nothing in content and context. PF will soon realize these attributes about this “Whatsup Android Critic” or simply call WAC!

  15. Zambians don’t wanna grow old with visionless ,unprincipled and self seeking leaders like you either. This is exactly how they’ve wasted our 53yrs while Singapore leaders made huge strides for their people.

    • Are you a malukula or chief fwiti now, of late all your silly comments are coming at midnight, during day time you are quite as a mouse(koswe). If you look at fdd, currently you count out nawakwi and chifumu, the only likely guy to take the top spot would have been toni lyako Antonio and he would have definitely change the fortunes of fdd, but alas he just exposed himself as ponyantole.

    • Lombe (MA) you mean SAMPAROISIS EGOLAKAMIA condition; a disease which was also diagnosed in stray pigs and donkeys during Guy Scott’s tenure as Minister of Agriculture

    • What? How do you know we are bitter? Are you a vampire? Would you enlighten us more you blood sucking creature.

  16. What a disappointment you have thrown on th youths that believed you were a voice of the reasonable! What young people learning from you? You could have retained some credibility even if you joined RRP than PF. Baba I hope you have really used your calculator correctly. I see all your investment in politics thrown off the window. Time wasted brother Antonio.

On the other hand your move if we are to take you for a principled person requires deep analysis and a sense of worry for members of PF

  17. Is RB grooming someone? Is’t Vincent Mwale? There could be something happening for the PF to accommodate you so deeply into the centre of their structures. PF trying to rebrand? Or is’t just your hunger? I am confused.
What did you tell Ms Nawakwi when you left? Is she also joining? Eeishi this is a tough one for analysts that decide to take you as a principled young man. The good thing is that the truth shall come out sooner than later.

  18. Shocking what hunger can do to seemingly principled people! The worst decision any politician can make. Not even PF will give him respect but of course it is all about personal benefits.Shameful!

    • If that happen then ECL would have sorted out his hunger for the next three years. However, he must undergo intensive morality training not to deep his fingers in embassy coffers as they were sharing FDD cash with Nawakwi

  19. Why people are not resigning to join UPND? the answer is very simple; because of its reputation as a tribal grouping and that the party will not form government any time soon as long as the supreme leader and god of tongas is still at the helm of its leadership. I feel pity on vibrant politicians like Mweetwa who keep on wasting their intelligence in the UPND, the party that is predicted again to lose in 2021. These guys in UPND lack strategic planning and foresight that is why they are blindly confident that UPND will form government each time we have an election. I salute Antonio for his timely foresight and decision, come 2021 when PF wins again this man will be in government just mark my words.

  20. PF is a failed project no matter what happens? Unless bring in fresh leadership. Lungu himself has no records of success on his own. The ministry he headed before, did not perform exceptional under his leadership. T

  21. The writing is already on the wall for UPND, people are resigning only to join PF or NDC. Since when did we hear someone resigning to join UPND? The party is now declining politically.

  22. @saibwende,you dont hear defection to UPNd,because yr propaganda DeadNBC does not cover UPNd even when it’s members pay TV levy to Deadnbc all they show on there so called news is Edgar lungu and Pf.

  23. People are free to move. That’s what democracy is all about. Trump was a Democrat before he switched to Republican. So don’t call my country shi’thole. One person in the USA served as VP once as democrat and another time as Republican. Kalaba has resigned but still remains PF and you don’t call him sh’ithole because it’s his right.

  24. Its not a question of rights. It’s one of ethics. If his intention is to score a public job then we have the right to assess his capacity to deliver based on his motivation.

  25. if antonio joined upendi you would hear them praisin him. thats how these people view life. they are like bats. the cling to braches head down and you cant convince them to sit upwards.

  26. If its true that the wako ni wako is taking place in PF, then voting will also be wako ni wako in 2021. We are everyday witnessing people from eastern province work against the bemba and tonga machines. wine azalila pa last

  27. But who says he is young. The guy is old and should just retire and give chance to young ones.
Ati I dont want to grow old in opposition when he is already old and should just retire before he can contaminate young upcoming politicians.
    Disaster!

  28. Is it Antonio Mwanza I saw with the President in Muchinga on TV last evening? If it is him…..Defecting to the ruling party and on the same day accompanying the President on a tour! I stand to be corrected.

  29. Antonio actually epitomises the greediness and opportunism of modern day zambian self-proclaimed politicians..the country is sinking bane time to rid off such nonsense!!!!!!
