President Edgar Lungu says he will conduct on-the-spot check of developmental projects which government is undertaking country wide.

President Lungu said some projects such as roads and bridges have stalled because of what he termed as laissez faire attitude.

Mr. Lungu stated that 2018 is a year of action because promises have earlier been pronounced.

He further said government is spending colossal sums of money on the projects hence his move to conduct on-the-spot checks this year.

ZANIS reports that the Head of State disclosed this in Chinsali district yesterday at a mammoth rally held at Mulilansolo school grounds.

President Lungu took a swipe at the slow pace at which the 150 kilometre stretch on Mulilansolo-Chinsali road rehabilitation works are being undertaken by the named contractor.

The President who was scheduled to travel to Mulilansolo area by air instead travelled by road and was disappointed that the road has not yet been worked on.

President Lungu is Chinsali district in Muchinga Province for a three day official working visit.

The Head of State is accompanied by Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Michael Katambo, Provincial Minister Malozo Sichone, Minister in the Office of the Vice President Sylvia Chalikosa, Works and Infrastructure Permanent Secretary, Charles Mushota, PF Senior members of the Central Committee and other government officials.

Meanwhile, President Edgar Lungu who arrived in Chinsali district yesterday morning for a three day working visit has met with traditional leaders in the area.

President Lungu held a private meeting with Senior Chief Nkula and Chief Nkweto of the Bemba speaking people respectively.

Speaking after meeting the Head of State, Senior Chief Nkula pledged to support President Lungu and government for embarking on developmental projects in Chinsali district and Muchinga Province as a whole.

The President is expected to inspect various developmental projects being undertaken in the province during his visit in the area.

The Head of State is expected back in Lusaka after concluding his visit to the province on Tuesday 23rd January, 2018.

  1. Action to me means getting rid of corruption. That’s the biggest Chau we have in Zambia. What are you doing in this? We need answers

    • * challenge not Chau
Getting rid of corruption starting with yourself bakateka would solve most of the problems we have in Zambia. What plans have you got for 2018 and beyond in this regard?

    • Let’s start with $42M fire tenders. Trust me ili ilyashi kalyakapwe until one goes to jail. With social media we will track you

    • RDA is run at state house. Paid for roads. Road is not not done. Contractor says was not paid.
No evidence. Another spot check On going tomorrow.

    • This Chap he should be more concerned with the Nakonde Border road condition and the General state of Nakonde Chinsali road than these less economically important roads. Humbly Dumbly please please !!

  2. The chap is now afraid because we have new keep players eyeing 2021 such as Kalaba. He had no time for national issues and thus the cholera out break. He has corrupt ministers including himself. Money meant for infrastructure development seems PF thinks its meant to be shared among ministers. This is what happens when we put a person who only thinks about himself. Just how much money has this chap stolen? We should not forgive easily and teach these thieves a lesson. He thinks he is untouchable because people fear these guys yet it is people who put them in government. Mugabe is probably now crying, especially that wretched wife of his who might have to go to prison for wildlife crimes. Lungu better watch himself because people are watching.

  3. Comment:Mr president, this is great keep it up and take action if you find that people are not working.Corruption is only in the mind of those who want to paint others black.Let’s develop the country and this people who singing corruption will be put to shame.Mr president me and my family behind you.

    • Action should be taken for all culprits. The president should act on these corrupt individuals who retard development. Some contractors can not perform but the system just leaves them loose. Contracts should be cancelled.

  4. @Officials
    @Chimbala

Corruption could only be checked. ECL has done marvelously well in this regard.
If there was a lasting panacea for corruption HH / Hichinena and Donald Trump could not be millionaires today.

  5. Is it that the president needs to visit all projects physical ly sure? What are the minister s , dcs, permanent secretary s, office of president etc doing? We need clear Job description for all the offices.

  6. Kim,ECL is the CEO of the organization called Zambia. So as such he has an obligation to have a close check on how his managers are implementing the goods and services unlike always waiting for the report. In some instances, reports maybe be misleading. Therefore, the step the president has taken is thumbs up. Don’t just condemn for the sake of condemning.

    • Am not in no way condemning. Am just amazed at this work arrangement. A CEO like Dangote doesn’t check bolts on cement mills. Even the Zesco CEO doesn’t check line fuses. Learn to identify wrong things exe

  7. Why does he have Provincial Ministers and what is his Party SG doing with him? Why do such morons thrive for such positions when they can not delegate?
