The High Commission of the Republic of Zambia in Gaborone, Botswana has announced the arrival of newly appointed Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Goodwell Lungu.

Mr. Lungu will replace outgoing Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Wesley Chikwamu who concludes his six years of distinguished service at the Mission.

This is according to a statement released by Press Secretary at the Zambian High Conmission in Bostwana Kasabo S. Kalusa.

A seasoned public administrator, Mr. Lungu was head of Community Relations for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for eight years and also served as Executive Director of Transparency International Zambia chapter for 12 years before retiring in 2016.

Zambia’s High Commissioner to Botswana Brig. Gen. Patrick Tembo has expressed profound gratitude to the outgoing Deputy High Commissioner for his service to the Zambian Community in Botswana and the nation at large and has wished him success and providence in his future endeavours.

He has further implored the Zambian Community in Botswana to welcome Deputy High Commissioner Lungu by providing the necessary support and cooperation as he takes up his new responsibilities.

  1. For goodness sake, Goodwell Lungu, from Chief Executive Officer to Deputy Ambassador/High Commissioner? These people really annoy me how they’re all clamouring for government jobs. Aren’t you ashamed guys? At your level, Goodwell, why not set up your own consultancy firm using your vast experience and network and be an employer? I am extremely disappointed. Even these appointing authorities should for once tell-off these guys.

    • There is another moron who was a FULL CABINET MINISTER and he is now board chairman at Indeni. This is a caliber of people we put to run our country

    • Let the young take up government jobs for a better future.. So stop condemning everything from a political angle.. We need young men lyk Lungu to get the most experience so that we build a better Zambia for all as we get lid of the older generation.. Stay blessed

  2. Today it is Patrick Tembo and Goodwell Lungu, tomorrow it is Antonio Mwanza and all! Are these people not ashamed of themselves – One Zambia, One Nation, really? Taking development to all corners of the Country? Not leaving any body behind? My foot!

    • It’s very simple. ……..going to the airport to meet and pick ministers and high ranking party officials like Mumbai Phiri, Davies chamba, arriving from Zambia for shopping, corruption deals etc on tax payers cost and making them confortable while they are in your country of designation. That’s why it’s a popular appointment among PF cadres.

  3. Real cadres know that there’s no money in foreign service that’s why they don’t scramble for jobs in the foreign service. Home is sweet home. Anyway goodluck Goodwell on your tour of duty

  4. Congratulations Mr Lungu on your deserved appointment. Speaking as a former diplomat myself, I can assure you that you will enjoy your job. My only advice is that you remain humble, respect the people you find, including locally engaged staff, because your success or failure will depend on how you relate to all these people. I know of missions where the Head of Mission and the Deputy Head of Mission do not see eye to eye. Refuse to be part of such nonsense. Your success will be judged by how well you work with your Head of Mission and the staff under you.

  5. I wonder which communities these high commissioners, deputies, first secretaries etc. serve abroad. Not sure what many of them actually do.

  6. You reporters stop copying and pasting press releases Ala!
“six years of distinguished service at the Mission!!”
What distinguished service? Did you see it? if so then show us what he did so we can agree with you.

  7. So my dear friend Harold Muna doesn’t know which communities “these high commissioners, deputies, first secretaries, etc” serve? Of course, the primary duty of a diplomatic mission is to serve the interests of its nationals in the host country. In short, an embassy is your home away from home. It consists of professional staff who advise the Head of Mission on matters relating to their fields of specialisation. So we have first secretaries advising the Head of Mission on trade and economy, tourism, media matters, defence and security, etc. Thus, those appointed into the diplomatic service are not cadres per se but highly qualified professionals in their fields.

  8. @11 flag Kanamaso Kakubeka
“Highly qualified professionals in their fields”, please, shove that assertion in my backside where it never shines! Imagine that both Siliya and Mumbi-Phiri were diplomats before. These posts are now specifically for sperm chambers for presidents, relatives and party cadres. Come to Pretoria and see for yourself, it’s a shame!

  9. Go for it Goodwell. I am sure you will excel. Be careful about attitudes of people who find themselves in foreign countries by hook and crook at times who think they are more intelligent than people back home. Having stayed abroad for many years, I learnt that people think that when they live abroad they become superior to those left at home. They are so excited s when they return home for holidays from Botswana, Namibia or South Africa pretending they live well, yet some are just simple painters, panel beaters, maids, prostitutes staying illegally in high density areas where they use pit latrines. They are always in trouble with the local authorities. Remain humble Goodwell, and help the some illegal fellas there with repatriation.
