Zanaco made a flying start to their 2018 CAF Champions League campaign on Saturday while Zesco United were left frustrated away in Zanzibar.
At Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka, Zanaco defeated Gambia Armed Forces FC 3-0 to take a comfortable preliminary round, first leg lead into next week’s final leg in Banjul.
Defender and captain Ziyo Tembo put Zanaco ahead in the 34th minute before striker Martin Phiri netted a brace in the 35th and in stoppage time of the 90 minutes.
The two sides meet in Banjul in the last leg on February 21.
However, Zesco had a thorny outing in Zanzibar on the same date where JKU held them to a 0-0 draw.
Zesco played the entire football but JKU goalkeeper Al Hajji Ali stole the show when he made a half a dozen saves to frustrate the visitors.
Zesco must now beat JKU on February 21 in Ndola to advance to the pregroup stage.
Well done ZESCO.
You mean ZANACO?
Zanaco is Numba 1
Hope it will not be same old song “we learnt some lessons and going back to the drawing board. “
Hello Football Fans. I m very Disappointed by the loss of G.B.F.C. The 3-0 score line won’t be easy to erase.
