Former Ministry of Health Human Resource Officer Henry Kapoko has been denied bail by the Lusaka Magistrate court on grounds that he cannot be trusted. In this matter Mr. Kapoko together with ten others who are on police bond are facing twenty counts of theft by public servant involving over 6.8 million Kwacha.

Mr. Kapoko’s bail was revoked on December 22, 2017 for tampering with exhibits in a case yet to be concluded by the court. He applied for a second bail, telling the court that his health is deteriorating due to the poor sanitary conditions in prison.

Mr. Kapoko also claimed to have regretted his action and would not tamper with exhibits once given bail. But when the matter came up for ruling on whether to grant him bail, magistrate Xzonobite Zulu told the court that Mr. Kapoko’s ill health and alleged failure to enable him access private health facilities cannot be a reason for granting him bail.

Magistrate Zulu said the bail was revoked not to punish Mr. Kapoko but because he could no longer be trusted to continue enjoying his liberty without posing further risk to the exhibits.

The magistrate later denied Mr. Kapoko bail pending judgment on June 12, 2018, while his co-accused had their bail extended.

  1. He has suffered enough and his name has been moved drugged through the mud enough.

    Let him go.

There is far worse people who have denied innocent people a convention in an opposition party than this gentle giant that stole a little money.

My take and I hold a PhD.

    Thanks

    • Lungu take note…you are next. I like the Judge’s name Xzonobite…but i cant tell whether xzonobite is a man or woman

    • @1.1 That’s why you’re losing elections. You concentrate too much on fiction. You’ve no proof that Edgar has stolen except from the stories created by Upnd propaganda team. How are you going to feel at the end of the day when nothing is pinned on Edgar?

    • Who is Henry Kapoko? He is of no consequence, he should just stay where he is and rot there! Others like Edgar/Jonathan will follow him and find him there!

    • Another self serving devil. Real Zambian care about development for all. Kapoko must receive a life sentence.

  2. Detaining him is not enough, Henry Kapoko together with his friends involved should return that money.

    • Or face a death sentence. And why is this case taking too long. ….is the stolen money buying him time. ?

  3. This Kapoko should suffer.I remember meeting him at Woodlands filling station the man was undecided whether to show off his watch, shoes suit or BMW.Now look at the f00l.His friends who did not engage in looting are enjoying their freedoms and jobs ,homes etc while he wails like the f00l that he is.And the state should make sure it recovers what the man stole.

  4. Let him rot in jail. Don’t care. After all he is one of these good for nothing kikez from one disgraced thieving province up there. @ one mushota, is this thief your uncle?

  5. No one who steals from the poor lives to enjoy the rewards. My friend Kapoko must just repent, plead quilty & return the loot & property,God forgives bane.Kapoko was misled by the devil, the father of lies.

  6. Yes Anonymous I like that name too. How I wish I could hear her pronounce it Xzonobite especially the first part Xz… I will google it. Common Zulu names. There’s that nasal sound South Africans make. I hope she is not a foreigner.
