Installation of Communication towers will better lives of the people and improve the business efficiency-Zulu

THE Installation of Communication towers across nation is the transformation process to better lives of the people and improve the business efficiency, Eastern Province Minister Makebi Zulu has said.

Mr Zulu said this at the launch of Kafumbwe Communication site in Katete District, Kafumbwe Communication mobile tower is one of the 113 towers that Zamtel is constructing in Eastern Province.

In launching the Communication mobile tower at Kafumbwe, the Provincial Minister noted that there was a lot of trade that goes on between Zambia and Mozambique at Chanida boarder.

Mr. Zulu observed that for such trade flourish, reliable Communication system was of paramount.

He said Katete was a big agriculturial District in the Province and there was need for a reliable phone network.

He also said that the construction of communication mobile tower project will provided the much needed job opportunities for the local people, especially the youths of Eastern Province.

Mr. Zulu who is Malambo Member of Parliament said the construction of communication towers was also in line with the Government’s objective to provide communication services for all as stipulated in the Seventh National Development Plan (7NDP) covering 2017-2021.

He said the Patriotic Front(PF) Government through the Ministry of Transport and Communications was committed to increasing access to reliable and affordable Communication services across the country and today’s event Kafumbwe stands true to the unwavering commitment to the attainment of universal access to reliable cost effective communication services.

Mr Zulu commended ZAMTEL for delivering the project successful.

Speaking earlier, Zamtel Chief Executive Officer Sydney Mupeta said Zamtel was rolling out a total of 1,009 Communication mobile towers across the country and the launch was one of the 113 sites earmarked for the Eastern Province.

Mr Mupeta said it was a well known fact that Government has continued to recognise Information Communication and Technology (ICT) as crucial to national development.

He said Zamtel was fullfilling its mandate as a prime driver of digital transformation and leading provider of customer-centric ICT solutions and services.

He said it was Zamtel conviction that having the right ICT infrastructure was a prerequisite to development for any nation.

  1. Zambia always light years behind…they are talking about towers…you will be surprised at the price we are paying for these overpriced cheap Chinese junk via a loan!!

  2. communication is vital. these days I sit under a tree in my village, Google on tomato farming and get all the information I need. when my livestock show unique behaviour, i do the same. I only call the doctor when it’s really necessary. this is really progressive. the biggest problem that goes with communication is lack of the know how. most zambians can’t read and internet facilities are beyond average comprehension. those that have the know how use it to insult leaders, post immoral issues and are always playing games. internet has become a political too more than a survival too. we need serious education.
