Zesco United on Saturday squandered a one-nil lead to draw 1-1 at home with Mbabane Swallows in their 2018 CAF Champions League Group D opener at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
George Lwandamina’s side dominated proceedings and could have scored at least three goals in the first half but John Chingandu and Winston Kalengo wasted great opportunities.
The deadlock was broken in the 64th minute when defender David Ownio headed in Chingandu’s corner.
But Swallows fought back and equalized in the 81st minute through Mangaliso Shongwe off a Tony Tsabedze’s cross.
Zesco will travel to Tunisia on May 16 to face Etoile du Sahel on match day two of the group stage.
Meanwhile,it is all square in Group D with all four teams on 1 point.
This is after Etoile finished 1-1 away to Primeiro de Agosto of Angola today in Luanda.
That’s a way out. to early anyway lets wait and see.
ZESCO is paying for unlawful Firing or a briliant young coach ,,just forgot his name ..You bring spent forces in GEORGE CHICKEN with a a big stomach and rejected by Tanzania young africans. Bring back the young man he shall turn the tables in TUNISIA
I agree with you Anyina.
material ya ma players. a player fails to score. do you substitute him with a coach. did you see Kalengo’s missed chance? was that the fault of the coach? i think material ya ma players
Who selects players and who trains players?
One thing I have noticed with our players is that once they are on the pitch, it’s like they forget all the instructions that they were given in the dressing room and therefore, they need somebody on the touch line (Who is passionate, unlike bigman Lwandamina) to constantly remind them. With Lwandamina at the helm, Zesco is doomed – we an animated, energetic, self-motivated and well-travelled coach who can push and propel these young lads to winning ways. Why did Zesco hire the same finished coach who deprived them of the CAF final appearance, which he passively gave away to Memelod Sundowns? Is it because he is cheaper? God bless Zambia!
