The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has decentralised its operations to the provincial level with offices established in all the 10 provinces of Zambia.

FAZ President Andrew Kamanga said the decentralisation of the football governing body’s offices is meant to help the development of youth and women football in the country.

Kamanga noted that Zambia’s football development is anchored on the youth both girls and boys hence, the need for the association to focus on their development.

He said the vision of FAZ is to develop football in Zambia beyond men’s football. He added that, FAZ has established offices in all the provinces to ensure that football is developed countrywide noting that, football has in the recent years only been concentrated on the Copperbelt and Lusaka Provinces.

Kamanga was speaking when he graced the FAZ Women’s Football seminar at Golden Peacock Hotel in Lusaka today. He disclosed that the provincial offices have the Provincial Administrator, Registrar and officers in charge of refereeing.

The FAZ President also stated that FAZ is sensitive to women’s football development noting that, worldwide women football has developed to a point where it now attracts sponsorship as a standalone discipline.

He disclosed that because of the attention women football has attracted, FIFA has introduced Women’s World Cup league in which two top African teams will be participating.

He said FIFA has apportioned a sponsorship of about US$50,000 per year to FAZ for Women’s Football development in the country.Kamanga affirmed that the money from FIFA will be used specifically for Women’s Football development activities.

He said the administrators of women football should deliberate on how best women football can be improved and ensure women continue participating is CAF tournaments as well as the World Cup qualifiers. The seminar has attracted Women’s Football Club administrators from various clubs across the country.

    • Good Move but FAZ should have made sure this move was done at the time it had strengthened its internal administrative systems and finances probably by piloting with a few provinces. Decentralization itself comes with costs and we know FAZ is still limping financially. Kamanga is not saying how this new decentralized structure will be financed except for the mention of FIFA financing towards development of women football

  1. Kamanga is sharp. He successfully organizes under 20 AfCON and pays himself, his administration and players handsomely and dull people like Simata were crying corruption. He takes the under 20 to the World cup and pays himself and his administration well then dull people still call him corrupt. Now he is decentralizing FAZ meaning more traveling for him and his people and we will hear people call him corrupt. By the way, he does not do any of these using tax payer’s money.

    • #KCI
Stop lying are you blind to the fact that these guys paid them hefty salaries when the Boys who played the U20 tournament have not been paid? Has he continued to release funds realised from the matches? Has he brought on board the big sponsors that he said he will bring when he is voted as FAZ supremo? Isn’t he riding on the same Kalu MTN deal?
The bailiffs just bounced at FAZ and got equipment despite him and his friends paying him hefty allowances. He is corrupt and has abrogated the FAZ constitution.

    • @Future Nchanga MP, You are the Shonongo people that Chester sang about. If Kamanga was corrupt, ACC would have found him with a case to answer after all the Simata noise and your kind. Just work haRd and think straight so that you become the current Nchanga MP not future dreamer like HH.

  2. This isn’t what Ndanga Kamanga said he would do, he said he would divorce FAZ from running the league. We were expecting another body to run the league because FAZ hasn’t done enough, it’s better they concentrate on managing the national teams. Anyway soon we will have an elective AGM where all these issues will be effectively addressed.

  3. Well meaning and progressive patriots will applaud this long overdue move! This is the way to go for Zambian football. Those questioning how this will be financed are just demonstrating how challenged they are in strategic thinking. People let me tell you a secret; great ideas attract money and never the opposite. If you have no idea, even if you’re given 1 million dollars, it’s just a matter of time before you start blaming innocent people for your failure. To Kamanga, please don’t mind armchair critics, just focus on doing what you know best and leave a formidable legacy as football administrator.

  4. Why not separate FAZ administration from the business side and form a subsidiary firm to run that side ….you deal with the National Team and all Provinces ?

  5. Good move. Ha Negativity will never see anything good. The disease is in the brain and the heart (inherited).

  6. According to strategic management, the move is good as a way to improve on effectiveness and efficiency. The only caution is that the provincial offices MUST be manned by professional administrators and not just because someone played icimpombwa mu shant before. The main objective is to help the development of youth and women football in the country. This means the entry should be schools and youth academies. Call every one and school them to understand the bigger picture of the FAZ.
