Tradition, music and dance influenced unity

Ndola District Commissioner (DC), George Chisulo says traditional music, food and dance posed unique traits that influenced unity among the Zambian people.

Cannon Chisulo noted that celebrations of cultural festivals in the country promoted unity through a shared cultural heritage.

ZANIS reports that the DC was speaking during the tusefye Ndola District Cultural Festival which was sponsored by Indeni Petroleum Company in Ndola.

Cannon Chisulo said traditional music and dance have been used to foster peace, unity and promote the desired values of the people.

He noted that government is fully aware of its responsibility to ensure the preservation of the Zambian cultural heritage.

Cannon Chisulo explained that it was through cultural preservation that Zambia would develop its local industries.

He said the Ministry of tourism and arts is going to continue supporting free expression of creative talents so that local talents will derive desired benefits from their work.

Cannon Chisulo challenged Zambian artists to ensure excellence in their work as well as to be proactive and business minded in their operations to complement government efforts.
