Ministry of Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary for International Relations Chalwe Lombe says the relocation of an AU Organ, the Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) to Lusaka is one of the major milestones that President Edgar Lungu has scored since he embarked on a multilateral diplomacy project.

The Permanent Secretary who is in Addis Ababa to finalize the ECOSOCC host Agreement said Zambia would for the first time boast of hosting an AU Organ that will among other things not only strengthen Zambia’s voice on the continent but also create jobs.

He said Zambia had embarked on a vigorous Economic Diplomacy campaign in order for the country to reap benefits from countries where Zambia was represented.

He said President Edgar Lungu since assuming power has raised the Zambia flag on the international scene by assuming positions in many regional organs such as SADC.

Ambassador Lombe disclosed that President Lungu would this August take over the chair of Politics and Security on SADC.

He said SADC Chair on politics and Security was of interest to Zambia as it mainly tackled issues of conflict in SADC.

“Zambia shares the longest boarder with Congo DR and it was of interest to Zambia to ensure that there is peace In Congo DR”, Ambassador Lombe said.

On the Seventh National Development plan, Ambassador Lombe said it would be difficult for the Seventh National Development Plan to be implemented without linking it to International Cooperation.

He said Zambia needed to maintain good International relations in order to pursue its own National interest.

“We live in a global village where we need to sale and import goods, its important that Zambia maintains good international relations in order to achieve this”, the Permanent Secretary said.

And Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Her Excellency, Ms Susan Sikaneta said the relocation of ECOSOCC from Addis Ababa to Lusaka was historical and it would have an impact on the lives of Zambians for many years to come.

She said it was God’s will that the relocation of ECOSOCC was finally coming to fruition.

The Ambassador hoped that the coming of Ambassador Lombe would help resolve some of the outstanding issues that included the structure of ECOSOCC and the host agreement.

The Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) is an advisory organ of the African Union composed of Civil society Organizations with a mandate of translating AU objectives, principles and policies into concrete programmes, fostering and consolidating partnerships between the AU and CSOs and contributing to the promotion of Human Rights , the rule of Law , good governance , democratic principles ,Gender equality and Child rights among others.

All because of the influence of President Lungu

    • Nothing will change. Only the gullible chaps get excited with such. Mandevu, Chawama, Misisi economic conditions will remain EXACTLY THE SAME even with this relocation. My head is already on the chopping board, I am ready

  2. When you appoint useless cadres to such positions …this is what you get unnecessary bootlicking..you even find them on the campaign trails issuing Lazy Lungu books not knowing that a losing candidate can use such in issues in court.

    • Those books were donated to a none voting age group in short primary school pupils. Unless in southern province under15s are allowed to vote.

    • Princess of Sussex – And that doesn’t raise an issue to you that such books are handed to kids…who is paying for these books? How much are the costing? You are currently broke yet you are printing out books… How does one even engage in a debate with you if you see nothing wrong here…surely how are you people getting access to the internet which is full of information that you fail to educate yourselves on simple issues.

    • Princess of Sussex

Have you ever heard of political parties distributing party branded books in Australia where you are ?
Do you ask your self why not ?

    • Sussex chakuti, these kids have parents at home who are old enough to vote. Let us try and engage our brains a little harder.

    • Are you telling me that because ecl potrait is in all offices public and private including schools means that he is campaigning and people will be coerced to vote for him. Dunderheads. Find something logical to oppose.

  3. In Zambia, it is mandatory for a minister, permanent Secretary, party cadre to mention the name Edgar Chagwa Lungu, at least five times a day while facing east. Failure to which you will be identified and party cadres will descend on you and report to Lungu for punishment. Probably for firing!

  4. “…..fostering and consolidating partnerships between the AU and CSOs and contributing to the promotion of Human Rights , the rule of Law , good governance , democratic principles …”

Zambia under lungu is the wrong place for now……botswana would be more appropriate ….

  5. Why is that man behind the PS annoyed was he planning to join UPND then and was wishing time to fly to 2016 because to him then it was moving slowly

  6. Anyway if it will bring any benefit to the country, well and good. But I hope we won’t be paying anything for hosting them and that instead they will be paying us.

  7. the WORST ARTICLE SO FAR IN 2018. THIS BOY LOMBE IS A BOOTLICKER LIKE THE OTHERONE WHO IS ALWAYS SMILING IN STATEHOUSE, WAIT HH2021 WILL FLY EARLIER THAN EXPECTED MUZATHAMANGA

  8. We have only $1.8 billion in our reserves and we have more than $9 billion in debts says the Africa confidential report, check it out. In short we are dead broke.

  9. Jay Jay and others please don’t scandalize people if u know nothing of who they are. Chalwe Lombe is a metal in his field and ECL appointed him on merit. Far from a cadre!
He’s among the people when he stands at international podium he brings joy and pride to mother Zambia.
