Share

Champions Zesco United on Sunday edged Ndola rivals Forest Rangers 3-2 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium to open a six point lead at the top of the FAZ Super Division.

It was a tough Week 21 encounter for Zesco who lost the first round match to Forest at the same venue.

Coach George Lwandamina’s men took a 2-0 lead into the break with a first half brace scored by striker Jesse Were.

Were was on the score-sheet in the 4th and 24th minute before Forest scared Zesco with two goals in the last half.

Forest reduced the deficit to 2-1 with captain Douglas Muwowo beating keeper Jacob Banda from close range.

But striker Lazarous Kombole restored Zesco’s two goal lead with a fantastic solo effort goal in the 81st minute before Arafat Ilunga’s 90 minute goal for forest.

The win pushes Zesco to 51 points, six ahead of second placed Green Buffaloes, after 21 matches played.
