Police retrieve a baby dumped in pit latrine

Police in Ndola has retrieved a still born baby dumped in a pit latrine at a local church in Ndolas’ Pamodzi Township.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanga confirmed the development to ZANIS in Ndola.

Ms Katanga said the incident was reported yesterday to Chifubu Police Station by Eunice Nkandu aged 54 of house number 2138 Nkwazi over-spill who discovered the baby.

Ms Katanga said upon acting on a report the police officers visited the scene and confirmed a still born baby was dumped into a pit latrine at Door of Faith Church premises.

The commissioner said the officers later informed the Ndola Fire brigade who retrieved a dead still born baby this morning.

Ms Katanga said Police have not yet identified the woman involved but the body of the child has been deposited at Arthur Davison children’s hospital mortuary.

  1. But how do they know if it was still-born? There is also a probability that it could have died after being thrown in there.
