3rd annual Lusaka July showcases “Colony of Wealth”

Share

The 3rd annual Lusaka July event was successfully held this past weekend (14th july) at Lusaka Polo club under the theme ‘Colony of Wealth‘. The theme was designed to encourage attendants to express the richness and diversity of African fashion and imagine themselves as royalty through their outfits. Some of the attendees admittedly did not understand the theme but came dressed in their most luxurious ensembles nonetheless.

The polo-fashion event had a number of celebrity guests such as Nollywood actress Nadia Buari, Maps Maponyane from South Africa, Dillish Mathews from Namibia as well as Zambia’s Macky 2, Cleo Ice Queen, DJ El Mukuka, Mampi, Bombshell among many others.

Many local fashion designers showcased their latest collections. Some of the designers included ; Nkanda Yaku , Lace by Mwenge, Blink Africa Designs , as well as Mtani from Tanzania. Guests were treated with live music performances by James Sakala and Kuni as they enjoyed the fashion parade.

The Lusaka July was introduced in 2016 by PR Girl Media as a deliberate spin-off the South African horse-racing event the Durban July. Over the years the event has grown to become a “must attend” for A-Listers, socialites and corporates, with its unique combination of fashion, entertainment and the sport of polo.

  1. How Iris found herself there is beyond me.Plus she where is her engagement ring? Overall ladies dressed better than men. Please change to a more advanced venue next year such as Twangale park not mu “horse” polo grill ….

    • @Solye Ubwamba…
You can’t roll a red carpet at a such substandard venue even if its an polo event.Have you ever seen similar events like Met Gala Red carpet, BET awards, Grammys and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).Hope a plane, cross the oceans and see how others do it.No wonder in Zambia you cant bring music moguls or stars like Rick Ross ,Chris Brown,, Florida,Kendrick Lamar, Justin Bieber Rihanna or The Weekend because of jerks like you who end up bringing finished staff like Boyz II Men…

    • What you have said is exactly my sentiment. You are talking about Met Gala, BET Awards etc, yes, those are red carpet and evening gown worthy. When you are talking about Horses, talk about Royal Ascot and Durban July which are actually held at Horse fields. Lusaka July is a copy of such events hence why its at Polo Grill where you have facilities for horses.

How on earth are you going to hold a polo/horse event at Twangale Park? Has your granmother left you a horse track and horses there as opposed to Polo Grill?

I actually agree with you that the dressing/red carpet was inappropriate for the actual event and what it represents, but your argument that it should be held at Twangale Park is equally redundant. Think!

    • yeah I like her outfit too! Iris looks like a high class prostitute. Her dress was for the wrong occasion! She does look beautiful but not for a Polo event…no class! This girl has great potential but she is wasting away. Tasteless! Ubu Hule fye!

    • If you are holding an event in Zambia just invite Iris, this beautiful young lady’s picture gets 1000 comments from jealous women and horny boys/men every time her photo comes up on social media.
I hope this socialite has a savvy manager and is investing in her future….people were expecting her to live under a rock in Mumbwa for the rest of her life but she has proved them wrong.

Actually it’s not bad, notwithstanding the theme is not original but what is in a country like Zambia. I like the outfits and the pictures.

But I was qondering what kind of influence the Chinese would have on the world once they become a superpower and take over from the Yankees… perhaps the next generation as I have a feeling Hollywood would continue to dictate world fashion trends for a long time to come.

  3. This Event was meant for Summer (July) manje mu Zambia we like for copying copying!!!! Those are evening like dresses

  4. Zambians all we know z to condemn instead of advising. The reasons y we r always copying from other countries z bcoz we wait to c other pipo making a mistake whilst those who av beta ideas sit on them and jst wait for mistakes to happen so they shoot now not knowing that that’s being stupid. Let us learn to control mistakes so when the same even cms again those attending will learn from the mistakes nd do the right things. Noti ukulapontafye ifyamungulu kuleni guys. This was a gr8 event naitwalilile. Almost all the ladies looked nice except #2 itanta mwalefumya panse mayo aweeeeeee

  5. @7.3 Iris is picture 21 left, she’s hot but the attire is not right for the occasion. The event is like Melbourne cup day in Aussie. Overall everyone looks good, looks like a function to attend rather than dancing to dununa reverse at a political rally.

  6. the show was awesome I think Zambian people should first understand the meaning of events before going there with wrong outfits. Research and move around the world to see what others offer.
